He’s the most beautiful monster she’s ever seen
Emmy Atler is desperate for a job so she can help her grandfather with his increasing medical bills. She even applies to be a maid for Jason Belmont, recluse writer, who’s known more for the murder of his cheating wife and her lover than his popular thrillers. He may have gotten off on a technicality, but everyone knows he’s guilty. Just because … he’s guilty.
Just because he’s quiet and awkward doesn’t mean he’s actually innocent. Just because he treats Emmy with warmth and respect doesn’t mean he’s not capable of killing her with his bare hands – especially considering the fact that he lives in a secluded cabin in the woods of Lake Tahoe. Emmy can scream and no one would hear.
Now, with her grandfather’s health on the line and the risk of debt closing in, Emmy must do her job and ignore her growing attraction for her employer – especially if she wants to avoid risking her life for a man both brooding and fatal.

Good read but not very special.
What I liked in this story was the last sentence and the ending. I liked the hero and heroine but I couldn’t find what I was looking for in this story based on the blurb. I was expecting more twists and turns in the plot and more darkness, suspense and mystery. There are some good moments in the story line that are openings for something more to happen but somehow then the thread is just broken. I kept reading to see where would be those steamy, forbidden, dark and suspenseful moments but really couldn’t find them. I give three stars for the last sentence. Good read but not very special.
This is a new author to me, and I really like her writing style. This book has a great plot that held my interest throughout, it has drama, intrigue and romance. The main characters work well together, and the author has written some wonderful dialogue between the two of them. In normal circumstances the two would never have even met but life threw them together out of each of their own needs. It’s a really great story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I quite enjoyed this story. I loved Emmy’s drive to be independent and help her grandfather with his bills. Jason is the epitome of handsome and brooding. I do detect a flair of Wuthering Heights here along with the Beauty and the Beast themes. I really enjoyed the way the mystery of whether or not Jason got away with murder or was actually innocent played along in the background of the story. The ending really came out of nowhere and didn’t feel completely connected with the rest of the book. That last line, though. That was priceless.
This was a story about a woman falling in love with a murderer. Good idea, but there just wasn’t enough to the story. Got tired of the heroines redundant thoughts. Had to struggle to get to the end
Awful, random plot points and simply not coherent
The ending of this book came out of left field. I really wanted to like this, but I just didn’t like how it turned– rather ridiculously– at the end. I wanted to solve the “mystery” of Jason, but there were too many questions left unanswered.
Read about two chapters and had to put it down. Writing very juvenile. Terrible
