Laura Baker is an EMT and part of the Baker family, a known crime-solving family residing in New Orleans. You could call the Bakers celebrities but only when it comes to catching bad guys.
One night, a dying man, who has a thing for blondes, give her his Mardi Gras beads. Laura has no idea these beads will change her life.
Archie is in New Orleans searching for something he thought he lost. He needs to get close to Laura Baker if he’s got a chance to get it back but his attraction to her catches him by surprise. Before he realizes what’s going on, killers are after them both. Can he save them from certain death, or will it all blow up in an inferno?
Worry Beads is a humorous mystery romance set in New Orleans with the Baker clan center stage. Witty, smart and can hold her own amidst the Baker men, Laura is a quirky character who I fell in love with instantly. The sparks fly between her and the mysterious Archie. Is he hero or villain?
Plenty of action, twists and turns, you’ll whip through this mystery at a non-cozy pace. The ending shocked me, though I should’ve known Pauline would throw in a doozy plot twist. I was sad when it ended and can’t wait for the next installment in the series.
Favorite Character/Quote: Laura. Having read a few of the other Baker siblings in previous books, I found her to be refreshing. She’s an EMT so it was fascinating to see what life is like for an EMT. Her inner dialogue kept me laughing, especially when it came to Archie.
My Rating: 5+ stars
When a dying man gives Laura a strand of Mardi Gras beads all hell seems to break loose!
It’s so fun reading about Baker family. Each book is a different sibling’s story. It’s so unique that way!

Our heroine learns something on her latest emergency call which just might make her a victim instead of a responder. Maybe our hero can help her solve the mystery before she comes to harm.
This is book four of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a cozy mystery with an excellent cast of characters and a fast paced plot that is full of twists and turns which keep you guessing. I was sucked into the story right away and I had a hard time putting it down to eat, sleep or go to work. I loved both of leads and enjoyed watching their relationship developed throughout the story. Overall, an excellent read and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended.

A dying victim gives EMT Laura Mardi Gras beads. It appears many people are interested in them, including her mysterious blind date. New Orleans comes alive in The Big Uneasy Mystery Series and I enjoy reading about the big, chaotic Baker Family.

Laura had seven brothers and five sisters. At thirty something she was the second youngest. Her father Zach had buried three wives – so far. His current paramour Becca went to high school with him. Law enforcement, medical examiner’s office, EMT – her dad a retired cop.
Archie read as some kind of cop, his deceased brother ex military with a security firm
When a roadside hit and run victim gives EMT Laura some old looking beads, Archie isn’t the only one to come looking to see if they are part of a mystery tangled up with the ashes of 9/11
Live, deep family domineering and romantic loves – as well as deep betrayals
Intense action and psychological drama

New Orleans: Laura, an EMT, trying to make a dying person happy takes his beads and puts the on. Beads get caught on TV and lead to chaos. Archie sees beads and wonders if…. Need to read story, but heads to New Orleans to find out.
Never find out if Archie is good guy or bad guy till near end of book. Definitely not his career till end. Will have to read next one to see what happens with them after this adventure.
This might be book 4 in a series but is my first in the series and by this author. It said romantic suspense. I think it could also fit the cozy mystery genre.
It is a fast and easy to read. Definitely stand alone story. Can be read in one sitting easily.
Have feeling books in sereis deal with different siblings. Just my guess at this point.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
