From the USA Today bestselling author, Dani René, comes a dark romance that will leave you guessing until the very end! This is NOT a standalone. You need to read Stolen – The Prequel to fully understand this storyline. My world was hell on earth, son of a man who was evil incarnate.Hate was all I knew. When she was stolen, I swore I’d find her. When I meet her eyes again, I remember what I’m … her.
When I meet her eyes again, I remember what I’m fighting for.
The girl will be mine.

I’ve seen true evil, held captive by the devil himself.
And now revenge is all I know.
Everything was stolen from me. Until him.
When my eyes meet his, I’m caught in his web.
Each moment that passes only confirms what I already know—I’m his.
This is a dark romance. Due to scenes of an adult nature, this book is for 18+ ONLY. That’s the only warning you’ll get.

Ever watch a movie that you want to hide behind a pillow but you just can’t take your eyes off the TV? That is what it was like for me reading this. I couln’t believe it, I was sucked in once again (must read Stolen first) and I couldn’t put it down because the need to know what was happening was too stronge.
This is a very dark romance, with many many many situations not for everyone.
One of my favorite thing is the many Point of Views, even the ones I wasn’t expecting, just pull this story together and gives you the feels and makes that connection drawn between the charatures that much stronger. Ms. Rene has outdone herself with his writing. Oh and the little bonus situations, that I didn’t see coming ..that snuck in just sealed the deal with 5th star for me.
I’m not going to retell or summerize the story. There is just too much and hard to explaine. It’s one of those things that you need to find out for yourself. Well done. Great writing. Dark, twisted story line and so much more.
First Stolen, then Severed, and now I’m shattered! This duology blew me away with its intensity, darkness, and the underlying faint glimmer of hope in the face of hopelessness. The problem is that like the characters, I don’t think I came out the same person I was before reading these books. The sense of reality the author creates with her words will have your eyes glued to the pages no matter how much you want to stop. I was captive to the depraved brilliance and can’t wait for her next journey to the bleak side.
Okay, just to make this absolutely clear, you MUST read Stolen first – Stolen is the prequel, and Severed probably won’t make a lot of sense without it. Well, it would but you’d miss some vital information which is key to Severed.
After the complete mind-blowing experience that was Stolen, I have to admit to being a little hesitant to read Severed. The prequel was…infinitely more darker, in my opinion, and left me blinking at the Kindle screen for about twenty minutes while I processed what I’d just read.
Severed, however, is dark, gritty and bloody but has the wickedly delicious storyline to draw out the utter depravity of the book. It is phenomenal. In Stolen, we primarily dealt with Drake and Caia and the horror of what one did and one suffered through. In Severed, we get to experience River and Dante as well to broaden the view of the Savage empire and the brutality of sex slavery.
The author really has thrown in some epic twists and devious turns, has created a strong and vibrant female character out of the wreckage of a girl who, by rights, should be weak and uninteresting. Instead, Rene has channeled the darkness of this fictional world and an intriguingly dark male main character into Caia and created a goddess built of rage, revenge and life.
The sex is hot, thrilling and generally taboo in origin but so well written and integral to the characters’ development.
An absolutely delightful dark read, one I highly recommend. 5* all the way.
Utterly compelling…
Enter into the world of Severed, if you dare..where the men are mostly powerful and sadistic, the women are mostly broken and abused…and almost all, whether strong or weak, are victims of their circumstance…
This second book in the series focuses on the consequences of the first instalment and therefore cannot be read in isolation… this is a twisted and uncompromising story..the author has skilfully created an intriguing group of dysfunctional and emotionally bereft characters.. even those whose actions are unforgivable are made fascinating and in some cases worthy by her writing..
While reading there were moments when I felt shocked and horrified, but this is also a story of redemption and a beautiful but imperfect love
Brutal, menacing, suspenseful and utterly compelling…I commend this book to all those who like to take a walk on the darker side of romance..I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
We have come to know Dani and her dark and dirty. Well this one is definitely DARK. And I loved it every step of the way. When dark and depraved things happen and you tend to want more, it makes you wonder what is going on. When things should have u hiding in shadows and squirming in your seat yet you keep going back for more. That’s what this book does. You have to remember that the savior isnt always a white knight. Sometimes what comes is a dark horse. Sometimes being saved from one evil only throws you into an even hotter flame. There is something about these characters that makes you want to reach out and grab ahold of them. Cuddle and hold them and hope you don’t get burned. Drake and River are both dark and mysterious. Both dark and depraved in their own ways. Drake has captured my dark heart tho. I can not wait to see what else happens. This book has left me in a state of both shock and what happens next. Dani definitely knows how to grip her readers and hold them captive awaiting her next words!!
Wow! Can Dani out do herself! Yes, this book lets you know how the main characters became who they are. The deceit runs rampant until the truth finally comes out. The lies that ruled their lives are told.
Drake is beside himself since he thought Caia was killed. Dante, his brother and River, his best friend and lover have a hand in all that is happening to get their revenge against all those people who hurt them and other innocents. Drake finds out Caia is alive and he rescues her. They all have an agenda that helps them heal. A very riveting book and not for the faint of heart or those with triggers. I, fortunately was able to absorb this book for what it is. The ending of this book was freakin awesome.
Explosive conclusion!
After reading Stolen I was a freaking mess waiting to read Severed!
Severed was everything I expected from a Dani Rene book but she gave even more!
I loved seeing the journey and the more in-depth look into the lives of
Drake,Dante,River and Caia. Yes I said seeing because Ms. Rene’s words come to life and pop out of the pages creating an experience I can practically feel!
This book is told in several POV which was outstanding because I got to know what’s was going on in everyone’s head and their thought process.
As far as the characters go I loved them!
For me there was no way not to love the three main men, especially Drake, even though they did horrible things. They were brought up to be desensitized and to have no shock value.
They are what they are because of the people around them. They are the product and the equation of what their environment taught them.
And the women omg they are some rocking ladies!
Caia is one tough strong determined young lady,I absolutely loved her!
Outstanding story of dealing with and overcoming the impossible!
WOW! *jaw still on floor*
I am terrified right now. This was such an intense book. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. So of course it’s a must read! I feel as broken as the “toys” Dani Rene writes about in Severed . . . I was engulfed by many of the depraved scenario she created. I am blown away by her mind with this series. Well done!!!
Severed is the second book in the series and must be read after STOLEN. This is an action packed dark/disturbing book about a group of friends whos lives have been really messed up. There are triggers in this book, so be warned. If you love dark, depraved storylines then this book is for you!!! Dani Rene’ you are a genius.
There is a prequel story called Stolen that must be read prior to this is nothing will make sense. I like my dark reads just that dark and disturbing, maybe it’s just me but i didn’t find this as shocking as the prequel. There are so many neuonces to this story, the relationships that develop and secrets that are exposed. I’ve really enjoyed these two books they appealed to my dark heart.
5 bloody stars!
Let me start off my saying you have to read the prequel Stolen before even considering starting Severed. When I first heard about this author wanting to go dark I never expected any of this, this story swallowed me whole and I couldn’t to put my kindle down. The multiple POV’s provided throughout this book have you connecting with the characters more then you thought you could. Caia is a girl, a woman that is strong and a fighter even after all she has been through. Drake has been forced into a lifestyle that he cannot change yet is determined to fulfill his promises. The events that occur will leave you cringing and heart pounding all while having to turn the page to see what happens next. The details have the words jumping off the page and playing as a movie before your very eyes. Seeing where not only Caia and Drake but also River and Dante started to where they end goes to show you that there are things in life you need to accept and others that can be altered for you to continue forward. This story is not for the faint of heart and as the warnings have already been said I will reiterate once again, there are multiple triggers throughout so if you have limits make sure to take this into consideration before reading. I hope this isn’t the end for these dark and gruesome reads from this author. I hope there’s more in the future. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
If you haven’t read Stolen, you will not understand this book. Drake and Caia. Caia and River. River and Dante. These 4 had my head spinning. Dani lured me in yet again. Hook, line and sinker.
Wow, what an amazing read. I was hooked from Stolen, and I knew this book was going to b be the same. I love everything about this story, I love the characters, and how they are with each other. I love the plot, and all the twist and turns.
Severed is a dark romance, that gives you a grimly hea. It expose you to the life of six people who are entwined more than they know. Their lives are so messed up with all that has happened to them, but with what they decide all six will have the grimly ending with a smile. Dani, knows how to deliver her books with a bang. She keeps her readers always wanting more.
While dark and disturbing and extremely intriguing I didn’t find this book quite as dark and shocking as the prequel Stolen. It will stillrip you up
That being said this is still a puch to the gut, violent, depraved, dark, heartwrenching but with a hint of light and peace….or is there
After reading the prequel, Stolen, I couldn’t wait to read Severed. I am in awe of this author. This book, while definitely dark, absolutely blew me away! The continuing story of Drake and Caia is not for the feint of heart, but it will definitely keep you entranced from the very first sentence. Drake and his brother and their childhood friend have had an incredibly hard upbringing. Some day they all want justice but aren’t sure when that day will come. When Drake sees someone from his past, he feels it in his bones, that this might be the time for vengeance. I don’t want to say anything further so no spoilers will be given. All I can say is if you like dark, twisted, Page turning, can’t put down, incredible stories, then this book is for you. But you need to read Stolen first so that you can understand Severed. A definite must read! Unreal!
****Please read Stolen before you read this. You will understand the back story of these characters and how they got to where they are. It makes for easier reading. Keep in mind Stolen and Severed are dark books. Be prepared for many dark elements in them.****
This book is about, darkness, greed, lies, deceit, lust, revenge, redemption, and love.
This is oh my Gods epic!! I can’t even. I am blown away with this. Again it’s a dark book, but beyond that it is so totally amazing, you will devour every single word. I can’t even adequately put into words how good this book is. From start to finish it’s a never ending ride.
What a fantastic story, I was hooked from the beginning and had to finish before I could go to sleep. I don’t think I should be rooting for people who have done such heinous things, but I did. Right from the beginning there was a glimmer of goodness in Drake, Dante and River and my faith was rewarded as they rid the world of the scum that trade in children.
This book consumes the reader without painting a pretty picture. There is total redemption for Caia, Harper and Rayne, thanks to the love that Drake, Dante and River didn’t know they had to give. There is a huge twist at the end that makes perfect sense after it is exposed and gives the plot much greater depth. Not a book one would expect to like given the subject, but I loved it.
