Alex Pierce needs Laney Winters to help him prove neither of them is responsible for the millions of dollars that went missing after Laney arrested him for bank robbery five years ago. Besides Laney not believing he truly repented in prison, there’s the problem of the real thief trying to kill her and the police department treating her like a dirty cop. With the possibility of another crime being … being pinned on them, Laney finally teams up with Alex to save her life. If only she could trust him with her heart, as well.

Where do you put your security? In things, people or circumstances?
This is the hard lesson Laney needed to learn because she had placed it in the wrong people and things, now she was seeing how very wrong she was.
Laney thought if she was a good cop and catch the bad guys then everything would be good. Yet, everything unraveled for her and now she’s just trying to pick up the pieces of her life which lay shattered all over the floor.
Alex is trying to do the same thing after he realized his life was following the wrong path. Now he just wants to prove he’s innocent of some of the things others believe about him. Unfortunately, that means having to come face to face with the one person who doesn’t believe he’s changed or innocent.
Angela Ruth Strong has a wonderful way with words and action. This story was packed with action, drama, suspense and fun bits of romance. It was a non-stop story which held me captive until the very end!
If you get a chance I highly recommend you pick this book up.
I received this book from the author and all opinions are my own.
Another laugh-out-loud suspense by a favorite author
Laney was astonished to find out that Alex was opening a security business in her town. The ex-con had been in prison, after all! Was he trying to lure unwitting business owners to trust him so he could then rob them blind?
With the quirky, over-the-top, laugh-out-loud humor and unexpected twists that I’ve come to expect in stories by Angela Ruth Strong, False Security led me on a merry chase with Alex and Laney as they sought to prove their innocence regarding millions of dollars that had been stolen five years earlier.
Yet, as with this author’s books, the story was not just fluff and ridiculous antics. Underneath the madcap adventure was the story of a woman who had been broken. First by a father who had been deceitful and caused her great pain. Then by a broken engagement. Despite the fact she was secure in her salvation, she didn’t feel worthy or lovable. And she had a great deal of trouble trusting, especially trusting the handsome ex-con she had sent to prison five years ago. The one who was trying to compete with her security business. (Yeah, I didn’t catch that until I started writing this review. “False Security” – security business – who could she trust? Cute!)
There are so many things to love about this. It combines the right combination of dry wit (which I adore), adventure and spiritual journeys. I appreciated the crafting of the sections that alternated between Laney and Alex’s narrations so the one part would end with one of them having a thought and the next would start with the other countering that thought in their head. I have to confess – this is one of my very favorite styles of writing. I imagine it takes much more effort than simply continuing a narrative and I appreciate authors taking the time to do this.
If you enjoy lighthearted suspense, romance with plenty of chemistry even if it isn’t filled with kisses, and changed hearts, you will love this book.”

‘Where was her Glock when she needed it?’
When ex cop Laney Winters applies to be security for a company, she discovers that Alex Pierce is also applying for the same position. The same Alex Pierce that she arrested for bank robbery and sent to prison 5 years ago! He has gotten out, claims Christ and wants to turn over a new leaf. And to beat all, he wants her to help him find the real criminal who stole the 9 million dollars he went to jail for!!! Talk about nerve. He’s the very reason she is no longer a cop! Well, he talks a pretty good game and after some advice from friends, she decides to help him. They team up to prove who the real thief is and as soon as they do, both are nearly killed. Not once, either.
This little novella hooks the reader at the beginning and keeps holding on through till the last page. Strong has created some very likeable characters who interact great and also has created a good plot. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
