Another magnificent story by Alexa Ashton! Every one of her books I’ve read has had a detailed, intricate plot, well defined & developed characters, and the warmth of commaraderi derived from a wealth of research. Return to Honor will make you laugh as well as cry through your connections to the characters and possibly even long to accompany them on subsequent ventures. I loved this book, but then I’ve loved every one she’s written. A true page turner you won’t wany to put down until the end. Can easily be read as a stand alone book, however you gain so much preceding history if you are able to read the others in the series.
Jessimond De Montfort is the youngest unmarried child of one of England’s most powerful families. Her sisters and brothers are all married and raising families of their own, and Jessimond wonders each day when she will find love. Her parents and siblings have all found love matches and she feels that it will never happen to her. With her parents’ permission, she joins a mummers’ troupe as a seamstress and troubadour. Also, in the group is Marcus de Harte who has just return from two years of battle for the King. Drawn to each other, they find themselves as friends and becoming more involved than they planned. But as events develop, they discover that the road to love is filled with deception and surprises. Alexa Aston has given us a wonderful adventure that you will remember and hopefully appreciate.
This is the tenth, and I believe final book in a wonderful series by this author.
In this story, Jessimond de Montfort is the youngest in her family, but she is “adopted”. In her day, that means she was found in a basket on her parents property and luckily her parents raised her lovingly as a member of their noble family. “Jess” is the only unmarried sibling and she is looking to find herself. So with the permission of her parents, and a family friend to watch over her, she is allowed a summer adventure with a traveling theater troupe. But Jess tells no one of her link to nobility, hoping to be treated as an equal.
The adventure is filled with colorful characters, interesting descriptions of their lifestyles, and moments of humor as well as a heated romance.
During her season of discovery, Jess meets Marcus de Harte, who is another traveler with the troupe. Marcus is the first man to whom she has ever felt a burning attraction. But is he all that he appears? Can she trust in a future with him? Marcus
says he loves her….
The story also has a mystery or two to solve in the end, which it does nicely. It was definitely a page turner, and I highly recommend it.
Marcus de Harte has returned home after two years bod battle to find out that his mother died shortly after he left. His father never told him. Marcus was so upset and devastated that he turned and walked away the very day that was supposed to be his homecoming. Jessimond de Montfort was found as an infant in the woods and raised by Geoffrey de Montfort and his wife. Feeling that she was missing something in her life Jessimond traveled with a troupe of mummers for the summer to try to find herself. When Jess meets Marcus they have a definite connection. Jess and Marcus both have secrets and will have to overcome some difficult obstacles to be together. This was a wonderful story. I loved the characters and the story. This is a continuation of the de Montfort story. I loved the others and this one was just as wonderful but also a stand alone book. I will definitely recommend this book!
Jessamine De Montfort is the youngest of six siblings. Although she has always been treated exactly like the rest, she knows she was adopted and maybe that’s why she hasn’t found love like all the others. If love can’t find her, she will just have to go and look for it. Returning home from two years at war for the King, Sir Marcus de Harte finds everything changed. He also knows if he stays he might kill his own father. He needs time to come to terms with it all, so he leaves.
Our strong and independent heroine really enjoys her adventure. She finds out a lot about what she is capable of and who she is. Will she find love???
Our hero is a good man with a lot on his mind. Pretending to be just an ordinary man instead of the son and heir of a Baron let’s him relax enough to face what he has to accept.
A very romantic and at times emotional story. It’s part of a series but each book can easily read on it’s own. Every one of them will tempt you to read the rest. I have loved them all.
