Excellent read
I liked this book. It says something when you feel bad about the Jewish girl and until the end of the book the Nazis
This is a wondreful novel for lovers of WWII history and the realistic dangers encountered by Jews in a hostile enviornment.
This a great book, I wasn’t able to put the book down until it was finished.
I couldn’t put this book down. Wonderful. Highly recommend it. A real page turner.
So many novels are predictable. You can see where they are going and can predict the ending. Not so with this one. When I was 3/4 of the way thru, I stopped to consider what would happen and there were so many possibilities. The ending is not one I considered, and it is far from an “ending.” Much is unresolved. Having read so many WWII …
This is a drama filled story that grabs you as soon as you start reading. It definitely shows just how dire and desperate so many people were during WWII. I admire anyone who survived those harrowing times. You’ll find it hard to get to a stopping place while reading. If you’re like me, you want to see what happens next.
I could not put down this book. I admired the main character in the book, Emma (Anna) for her strength in an unbelievably difficult time and her compassion for others. The strengths and resistance that many of the Jews in Poland during WW11 had to face leaves me wondering if I could do what they were called upon to do. Anna faced a very personal …
pretty easy to read, not bad at all.
I can’t speak for the historical accuracy of this book, but I really enjoyed this story. It was engaging and moved right along the entire time. I found most of the characters likable or sympathetic, even some that surprised me. The was a part toward the end that even made me tear, which almost never happens to me! I also liked that it made me …
To be honest, I was reluctant to read The Kommandant’s Girl after reading reviews that it was predictable and not worth the time. Yet, I gave it a try and absolutely loved it! While I didn’t much care for Anna, I did love Georg Richwalder since he was kind and sweet and willing to take care of Anna, despite knowing little about her. I would …
Love reading WWII fiction so this was a natural pick. The book kept me interested from beginning to end. I liked it so much I have purchased other books by the author.
I missed Emma/Anna after I was finished.
Shows the hardships of civilians during war
Assuming this was a fairly accurate historical novel, I learned a lot about Germany in WW2
Again you wonder how people survive wars. Well written, believable characters that draw you into the book.
A book you will remember long after you have read it.
