When angels sin, humanity will pay the ultimate priceHomicide detective Alexandra Jarvis is up against a serial killer unlike any she’s ever known. She has neither time nor patience for the new partner abruptly assigned to her. Especially when that partner is arrogant, high-handed, and intent on getting in her way at every turn. And there’s something about him—something she thinks she sees in … she thinks she sees in him—that’s starting to make her question her grip on sanity.
Aramael is not the fellow detective Alex thinks he is. But then again, Alex isn’t who she thinks, either. Or what. Aramael can’t tell her how critical it is to protect her from the fallen angel she’s hellbent on catching. He can, however, do his damnedest to stop his brother’s murderous scheme.
But the tension flaring between them—along with Alex’s uncanny ability to see Aramael for who he really is–puts his mission in serious jeopardy. Can they find a way to work together to capture the Fallen One? Or will their unholy dance trigger a war that could devastate humanity?

Alexandra Jarvis is a homicide detective who is up against a serial killer unlike any she’s ever encountered and the last thing she needs is a new partner who is hellbent on getting in her way and under her skin at every turn. Aramael sentenced his own brother to eternal exile but now he’s back and only Aramael can stop him.
This thrilling urban fantasy romance keeps readers glued to the pages with a fascinating world and lots of suspense. Both, the main characters and the supporting characters are strong, compelling and easily draw readers into this steady to fast paced plot. The suspense builds throughout and keeps readers on the edge of their seats with exciting and suspenseful events while surprising twists and betrayals keeps readers guessing. The author’s creative workings of the conflict between angels and fallen angels is fascinating and it creates a very intriguing world in which readers can easily become completely caught up in.
There is some wonderfully delicious chemistry that sizzles between Alex and Aramael which creates lots of intense friction between the partners as they try to stop the serial killer but it also creates a lot of conflict and emotional turmoil for these two as well which keeps this relationship quite volatile throughout. I was completely caught up in this story so I was a bit disappointed that it has such a cliffhanger ending which means of course that I can’t wait to read the next one.
I don’t normally read books about demonds and angles, but this one got me hooked. And the world building was spot on!
Entertaing
Unsub (TV) meets Legion (movie) – that seems to best summarize this novel. The author created a thrilling police procedural which is as good as any episode of Unsub or CSI or Criminal Minds and set that police investigation to look into a series of horrific murders committed by a demon. Throw in angels and soulmates for a paranormal romance that is unearthly (no pun intended) and you have a gritty urban fantasy that is next to impossible to put down. If you like John G. Hartness and his Quincy Harker books, you will enjoy this.

I enjoyed this well-written book. Homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis is tracking a serial killer and does not have time for the new partner she has been assigned. Aramael needs to work with Alex to find his brother, a fallen angel, while keeping Alex safe, too. This was an entertaining story and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
This was one of the most solidly written books that I’ve read in quite a while. While it is paranormal, it is also one of the best thrillers that I’ve come across. I don’t give 5 star ratings very often, but this more than earned every star. It starts off with an intense scene and that sets the tone for the rest of the book. It is angsty, ( Is that even a word? Yeah, I’m going with it!) and intense, and while the story ebbs and flows, even in the quieter portions it just serves to ramp up the intense emotions that erupt seemingly without warning. This was a dark and thrilling ride through the darker portions of the human psyche, with twist and turns at every corner. The only small bit of criticism I could give is that when switching from one POV to another maybe add spaces /headers/asterisk to make it easier to differentiate between them. Other than that this is an incredible story and I thank you for the opportunity to review this spectacular gem!
Absolutely awesome!
I would say this is almost good christian fiction. But, language isn’t what I have found in that genre. Also, insinuations of sex, references to hormones are mentioned with some frequency.
If you are open to intriguing story telling that involves angels and interactions on our mortal plane you will enjoy this little story. Forget the detective, look at the subterfuge taking place in realm of heaven.
This is the story of a plot that has been taking place for thousands of years. Is it possible for angels tasked with keeping the fallen from wrecking havoc among humans to be used to start the apocalypse?
Excellent series. Read them all in a weekend.
This whole series is very good, with a new perspective on Humanity, and the nature of divinity. I enjoyed it very much, and wondered where it would lead.
The storyline was different Than I expected but had some truly interesting twists. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading book 2 in the series.
I liked the book.i would suggest it to other people
There is a serial killer at large and detective Alexandra Jarvis has never seen anything like it before. Things get even more difficult when she is assigned a new partner, Aramael, who seems determined to get under her skin and interfere with the investigation. But there are things Alex is unaware of and that her new partner must keep a secret. He is an angel and her own brother the one killing people. Aramael had sentenced his brother to exile but somehow he is back and it is up to him to solve the situation. Additionally, there is a strong attraction between the two detectives.
This is the first book in a series and is a suspenseful paranormal adventure/thriller with a romance included. The characters are well developed with dynamic personalities complete with flaws and strengths. The author successfully weaves all the elements of the mystery, paranormal and romance together to make a suspenseful storyline that keeps you interested until the end. The interplay between the two main characters is great and you want them to develop their relation further. It is an interesting book and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

I could not put this down! This book is absolutely spell-binding. It is also mysterious and full of action as well as completely compelling. Just try to put it down. I have not read this author previously but wow, I will certainly read more!! Obviously, I highly recommend this book.

Sins of Angels by Lydia M. Hawke is the first book in The Gregori Legacy series. This first book introduces the compelling characters of Aramael, an angel who is one of the Powers and his soulmate Alexandra Jarvis, a human homicide detective. Both Aramael and Alexandra are tasked with stopping a serial killer from killing. This book has a compelling plot that is full of intrigue and several mysteries to be solved that only start to become clear at the very end of this book without any sort of final resolution as to who is doing the manipulation of the angels in heaven and those fallen to earth until the very end. This book does not resolve most of the mysteries nor does it provide a happy ever after ending for Aramael and Alexandra. Instead it leaves clues dangling, issues unresolved, and points towards the future possibility of a romantic reunion but leaves the reader with many more questions than answers. I enjoyed reading the part of the story that was there but ending up feeling like something was missing to wrap up this first books ending which is why I gave this book a 4 star rating instead of 5. Sins of Angels is a compelling read full of angelic mysteries.
It isn’t that the author can’t write…but I hated the whole last quarter of the book and the ending! Hated it! Hated it! I like a HEA and this was NOT it. If you like books that tie things up and make you feel good when you reach the last page stay FAR AWAY from this one! Did I say I hated the ending enough? I wish I had never read it. It left me hanging with a nasty taste. Wish I had NOT finished it.
I don’t really like novels where some of the characters continuously do things they know are stupid. Sadly, there is nothing but this type of action in this book. It’s really disappointing because I think there is a good story, maybe even a good series in here. The plot only advances through stupid moves, and I just couldn’t stand it. Avoid, unless you like the James Bond approach to problem solving.
Would have been a wonderful book if it had portrayed Heaven, God, Jesus, Angels and Demons correctly or used some other antagonist / protagonist senario but this total corruption is unconscionable!
