For the last few millennia Barakel has been lusting after his best friend, even protecting him for their whole sentence in hell, but now back on earth he must face reality and the reality is that Sahariel doesn’t feel that way for him. To make matters worse Barakel has to live with a beautiful demon that he can’t get his mind off of, but after his time in hell he’d never let himself touch someone … someone so evil.
Philotanus has made a living by leading men into temptation, a path he began long ago to exact revenge for how he had been treated. But having sought the protection of the angels in exchange for a scroll means learning a different version of his own story. Could he be ready for a new path or is he just setting himself up for another heartache?
With a baby on the way it is more important than ever for our favorite angels to find and eradicate the local demon horde, but can they do it in time? Will this baby be their salvation or annihilation?

One thing I like about these books is that I can read one in 2 days (train journey to and from work). One thing I don’t like about these books is that I can read them in 2 days. It means I have run out. Book 6 is not available yet. I am NOT happy.
Having read the synopsis, I wasn’t sure I was going to get on as well with this one, but I loved the others so had to give it a go. I really enjoyed it. The parts I thought I would be put off by were well written and focused as much on the emotional side as the physical side. It was well worded to make it detailed but not explicit. Overall this is a very very good book.
This book is a if the chain. It’s filled with all different types of emotions, unrequited love and longing. I love and adore how much Philotanus and Barakel are so much alike that it took a break for the to come to that ah ha moment. I love the instancts to protect each other in the face of danger. Above all I just love how everyone around them know that they were attracted to each other long before they were able to voice their love.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
** spoiler alert ** Philotanus wonders if he will ever be acknowledged for more than his past. Barakel is struggling with his new roommate. Will they be able to overcome their pasts?
This is the first in this series that I have read and I will definitely be going back to read the others. I loved how both characters had their struggles and how when both acknowledged them, they became determined to work towards being better. Loved the chemistry between these two. Good read!
I had read Sahariel’s book several months ago, and wasn’t impressed. Then, as I started reading this book, so many things were familiar that I knew I had to have read one of the prior books, but couldn’t place which one. This book was much better than the previous one in the series.
I liked both Barakel and Philotanus, and enjoyed seeing them come together. Both characters had serious issues that they had to overcome to even begin to form a healthy relationship. Before this book started Philotanus had already begun the work of healing, but Barakel had to do all of his growth in this book. I loved the moment that he realized his choices had led to sin (i.e. knowingly disobeying God’s will) and that he had held the guilt of being responsible for his best freind’s fall, as well as his own. He could have broken in the face of that realization, but he turned toward God and received hope, forgiveness, and comfort.
While Tanus didn’t have as much growth within this story, he still had to face his fear to allow Barakel close enough, and Barakel certainly didn’t make that easy. I liked how we saw Tanus grow from slightly risen demon, to fully realized raised being – which begs the question; is he still immortal? does he retain his venom? or will his powers evolve to something more angelic as time progresses?
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I will say that I haven’t read any of the other book A in this series but it doesn’t matter because it’s great as a standalone and you don’t get the feeling of being lost. In the most of hunting down a demonic horde, Barakle works closely with the demon God of sodomy, Philotanus. The two of them are attracted to each other but they both carry a weight of emotionally scarring baggage that causes plenty of drama and arguing to keep from getting hurt. There is plenty action and humor that keeps the story flowing, along with a few twists you won’t see coming. Will the angel and demon let their walls come tumbling down and give love a chance or will it all be for not? Buy this one and find out. I highly recommend this one!
What an amazing read! It burned me to cinders!
Light and darkness meet. The good, the bad and the sizzling.
I loved the gay angel/demon angle and how Barakel and Philotanus circle around each other. They are funny, different and attracted to each other. The bonus is how the author is able to weave great dialogues and make the plot progress in a way that make you devour the book. A fantastic read.
