I enjoyed this clean historical romance. I voluntarily chose to review it and I’ve given it a 4.5* rating. This is not a super long read, just right for the weekend. Not a lot of action but it still drew me in, kept me turning the pages to find out what happened next. Really enjoyed the ending.
Sweet story of second chances and redemption. We could all strive to be more like Delores O’Hanlon finding the good in people and understanding their weaknesses without judgment. I recommend this book especially for fans of historical Christian fiction set in the “Old West”.

I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up this book, and it’s my first by Annie Boone. It’s well-written, with a realistic setting. The characters are engaging with deep flaws and painful memories. I really like the owner of the boarding house, and think of her more like an angel. She’s an inspiration, that we can all do better serving others.
This was a great read!! Kept me wanting more!
This is an unusual tale about someone who really shouldn’t be in the west. He meets a woman who makes him feel alive, but she costs him his job. Sophia is colorful and outrageous, but thrown to the streets after her parents died. She steals to eat and make her way to Mexico. With the help of the boarding house lady, these two try to make a life for themselves. For me, the whole thing is wrapped up too tidy, after all the damage has been done. But the story in itself is fun.
Defending His Love
If you are a fan of “It’s a Wonderful Life” then you cannot but love this somewhat improbable tale of loss and love. Substitute Dolores for Clarence (although she is much more on top of her game and clearly the centerpiece for the series–this is book one), and enjoy the magic.
This is the story of Stanley an introverted accountant who heads west to find action and adventure. Sophia, a beautiful Mexican immigrant who lost her parents at a young age ans was forced to live on the streets and steal to survive. She wants to go back to Mexico in search of family she may have there and Dolores, a boarding house owner with a big heart who sees the best in everyone. With a little help from Dolores Stanley and Sophia find the courage to stand up to the rumors that have been spread about them and realize their true love for each other. This is an enjoyable read by Annie Boone.

A clean, sweet romance that was a quick read. He is trying to overcome his shyness. She is trying to overcome her past, less than stellar. In comes an older woman who likes to help lost souls.
