“Watch your back!”
Two convicted murderers have escaped from the Treasure Cove Penitentiary. Sabrina and her husband, Detective David Carlson, put them both behind bars so the odds are good that they are out for revenge. The stakes are high and every minute on the case is critical. This is the hardest case they have ever worked on and they cannot afford to fail.
The story does a good job of interleaving Sabrina’s desire to solve the case with her concern about how her sleuthing is affecting her daughter. Balancing family and work is a real-life concern many people have and it makes the book very relatable. This series just keeps getting better!.
Format: audiobook
This one has been my favourite so far. Instead of the exact same plot of the others this ones has the husband and wife team looking for escaped convicts instead of investigating a recent murder.
This is a fun cozy series. The storyline moves at a quick pace but there are several twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing and entertained. The characters are likable but I don’t see a real-life detective carrying his wife along on his investigations if she isn’t a police officer too. Even though I didn’t find this aspect realistic the book is still a read.
.
The book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery but reading the books in order can help you understand the backstory of the characters a little better. I recommend this to cozy mystery fans.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
This review is for the audio book.
This was a fun light hearted book. It was a little bit short for my liking as I thought the write could have made more of the escape but still a good listen and a guess if you have a short journey it is perfect.
Sabrina and David are facing a difficult case when two prisoners escape jail as they were instrumental in putting them both behind bars and the convicts have sworn revenge. The leads seem few and far between but with there family’s life on the line the pair don’t give up.
I liked the narrator as she has a nice easy voice to listen to.
The Story line was good but the dialog has a lot of “he said” & “she said”. This novella was good but needs more details about each character regarding their jobs and how they are relating to each other in the story.
Not the usual cozy story. It was intense and scary at times with a ending that left me wondering if Treasure Cove would ever be peaceful again.
The town of Treasure Trove was peaceful for a while. Sabrina and David are jilted out of their routines when two convicts break out of prison. The characters in this series are great. The town sounds like a place you want to visit, minus the murders of course. This was a wonderful story. More intense than the previous books due to the ‘revenge’ factor. Love how the story evolved from the start of the series. Sabrina and David have a daughter to protect now and that adds tension to the story. Love Ms. Potts books and looking forward to the next and the next…….
When two dangerous murderers scale from Treasure Cove’s jail, Sabrina and Davis knows that they are in danger, so they will do their best to find the fugitives. Good audiobook.
cozy-mystery, suspense, revenge, escape, short
Treasure Cove has a lot of friendly and interesting people in it, but in this short book there are more uncooperative ones and two prisoners who escaped from the penitentiary. One of them is a real sociopath who not only murdered Sabrina’s sister, but blames the pair for his conviction. Scary thought!
Carrie Burgess is the energetic narrator once again.
