Well sh*t… This prequel gives you a dark taste of what happens if you are stolen. This short read won’t leave you warm and fuzzy. It might even make you slightly uncomfortable. That’s what makes it a fantastic dark read. There is no limits to the depravity and the gore. Drake and Caia are two complex characters that hold so much promise. I can’t wait to see how their story will conclude in Severed.
Stolen sets the tone for this evil, sinister story. Caia is caught up in the Devil’s snare, and Drake must find a way to keep her alive. The nightmarish plot sucked me into this hell that has hold of Caia. Drake doesn’t know if he has it within him to stand up to his malevolent, self-serving father. It’s a thrilling start to a darkly exciting tale!
Wow! I haven’t read many books like this, but I loved it. It was fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. I need Severed now, so I can see what happens. The characters are so complicated and twisted, but I was still rooting for them. Dani did an amazing job with this story, and I know that Severed will be just as amazing!
Ok wow what the hell have I just read? People talk about Dark genres and I love Dark but there’s Dark and then there is… There isn’t a genre that fits this one as this was beyond dark. Like what the actual hell? That’s all I can say!! I’m sat here in a daze. I absolutely loved this story I’m not sure what that says about me but honestly I have never experienced what I’m feeling ever. This story isn’t your classic fairytale this is gruesome, terrifing and equally compelling story. Readers should take heed of the warning and triggers due to the nature of the story. I genuinely can’t wait for the next story in this series and I have high hopes and I have no doubt there will be more darkness to come for these wonderfully characters.
*This is an extremely dark story with numerous triggers, please be warned. Due to scenes of an adult nature, this book is for 18+ ONLY.*
Please take note to the warning. This book is a prequel to Severed and it is a DARK read! If you think for one minute you can’t handle this book, then you probably can’t. But if you can….HOLY COW!!!
Drake has grown up in hell. He has seen things that no one should ever see. He has done things no one should ever do. But he does them for a reason, the two people who mean the most to him, his brother and his best friend. To keep them safe.
“And he made sure I’m as cold as he is, but what he doesn’t know is I still have my heart”
Caia has no idea what she has gotten herself into. Taken and drugged, she wakes up in a place she doesn’t know. When she meets Drake she knows he’s not there to save her, but there is something about him that gives her comfort.
What happens when Drake has to do things to Caia he doesn’t want to do? Will he protect her or will he do what his father wants?
This book does end with a cliffhanger and I am DYING to see where the story goes!!
This book was dark and bloody and WONDERFUL!! Dani has a way of writing that makes your brain go places you never thought it could go.
Awesome job!
Um, well. I’m just going to be utterly blunt here. I am glad I read this dark and depraved little thing just now and not as part of the anthology. To know there’s more to come about Drake and Caia just gives me enough comfort to deal with the sickness and darkness of it all … not to mention that freaking ending! I read dark and gore – things you can barely call a romance, let alone healthy anymore, but this one pushed some of my limits. It’s stuff out of the most horrific nightmares. Pure evil and brutality and … well, gore. I’m not even sure to call what Caia and Drake shared any type of relationship. There’s something between those two, but it’s not really explored in depth in these filthy pages. This is the setup for an awesome gruesome dark and depraved new series set in an unforgivingly sick world, intended to shock. Any boy, did it shock me… There’s nothing gentle about anything of it. At. All. You are thrown right into it – like Caia, who wakes up abducted and drugged. You don’t get to know much about her, only that she’s valuable and that her father’s as much of a monster as Drake’s. Same with the whole nightmare Drake was born into and its purpose. I have so many questions left I want answered – or not, because, honestly, I’m terrified of the things Dani René might come up with… However, I’m ready for more … I think. Gulp.
“Extremely dark” is an understatement!
This is so well written and sent cold shivers down my spine while reading. I don’t normally read the dark DARK stuff, but this really does suck you in to a pit where nightmares are real and all those bad things your mother told you about talking to strangers is written in black and white. Despite my uneasiness about submerging myself completely in the darkness of Dani Rene’s twisted mind, I cannot wait for the full-length work to come out so I can find out what happens to two very memorable characters.
If you don’t like distressing scenes with blood and twisted darkness, this isn’t for you.
If you like reading hardcore darkness, dive right in!!
Oh Dani what are you doing to your readers??? This book is so dark and delicious, Drake and Cain’s story is only just beginning in this prequel and they have already weaved their selves into my heart and mind. Can’t wait for more!!
Serisouly, what did I just read????? It has taken me a few days to write this review because I need time to process. One statement that comes to mind is holy mind _____!!!!. Being my first introduction to Dane Rene writing, I don’t know what to do, run and hide from bad people or turn the next page!!! I will be turning the next page, I can’t wait for the book to come out. This prequel has sucked me in and taken over. I couldn’t turn away.
Ms. Dani warning is : This is an extremely dark story with numerous triggers, please be warned. YOU SHOULD BE !!!! But it was so good.
It is dark, twisted, graphic, horrid, and yet a love? Is book 2 out yet?
Amazing well written, being sucked into this dark place so fast and so quick and the story just runs so smoothly.
This is not your average story, not what I normaly read, but I am so hooked I can’t wait for more.
Holy! Loved this book, and can’t wait for more. They shouldn’t want each other but they do, they shouldn’t feel warmth where there is only darkness. Drake doesn’t know what love is, doesn’t know anything but dark sadistic ways. Caia is meant to be broken, but her will to survive is unlike anything he has seen. He wants to keep her as his pet, he wants to take her far from the dungeon but that’s impossible.
S-H-O-C-K!!! I am still in shock; and still trying to process everything that transpired in this gripping book by Dani René. Stolen is definitely a page turner. My mind will not stop spinning. The people you will meet in Stolen are gut wrenching. Somehow, I fell in love with them. I need the next book A.S.A.P.
This book was beyond dark. I’ve never read anything this dark and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely love Dani’s magnificent mind and how her words are like music to my ears. There is a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for #2.
Stolen is a very dark read with an amazing amount of triggers please take note of this !
If like like ur books dark and twisted then this is definitely the book for u ….
She has been drugged and stolen ….
He has grown up in hell …..
What can or will happen is anyone’s guess another intriguing book by the one and only Dani Rene …
I can’t wait to see what happens next !
GODDAMN IT!!!! Dani René!!!
Whyyyyyyyyy?
This book was dark, sadistic, gruesome, so much gore… EVERYTHING. My jaw is currently laying on the floor collecting drool. I can’t close it!
Drake and Caía… WHAT DID YOU MAKE ME READ?!
Oh, man. This is such an awesome novella.
Don’t dive in expecting hope to save you, that shit was left at the door and doused down in gasoline and a match thrown in.
Now, if you’re ok with reading a book that doesn’t have a happy ending—don’t worry, it’s just the prequel—and are aware of the sensitive subject matter AND can get past that, then this book is for you.
Caia is a girl that was stolen from her regular life and brought the “the Devil’s lair.” Where her captors try and try to do what is needed to completely break her down.
Whatever you’re imagining, it’s most likely that x100000000!
If I could’ve shoved my hands in to save her, I would’ve, but I kinda also wanted to keep reading, so I didn’t.
I want both Drake and Dante… I don’t care who is worse, who is better. Can I change my name to River?
Talking total nonsense, but my mind is so jumbled that I don’t know what to say.
READ THE FREAKING PREQUEL! It’s amazing! Ends on a BIG cliffhanger, but the next book is literally right around the corner!
Gaaahhh… I need a minute.
