There were parts of this book that had my stomach and knots and my literally jumping when the sounds around my home coincided with parts of the book. Dang that was intense!! Awesome!

Solid 4.5 star
Olivette and Penn had been friends forever, every month they went to Concord with their Mums and while their Mums get pampered they visit Oski to hear tales of the past that would scare any normal child but they loved them. Unfortunately the pressure from her Mum to be the golden child leaves her and Penn at odds and she cant tell him she really doesn’t want to do all the things her Mum makes her do. Olivette doesn’t need to worry about that soon as someone has summoned Bloody Mary and she and Penn have to stop her but wow there are some twists that you don’t see coming and tense times when Mary comes to visit. I just loved this book and reminded me why I love books about myths and how you can put a great twist to them and give them life again!

What an awesome horror story! I loved the first book in the series, Becoming Bloody Mary, that was this author’s version of the Blood Mary tale. Now the second book continues the story perfectly. It is present day. First I want to say that Olivette and Penn are the coolest kids ever. They are neighbors and childhood besties that are into urban myths and scary stories. I wish I had them as friends! Now they are in high school and no longer friends. Penn is still the urban myths nerd and very anti what’s cool and normal. Olivette has given into whatever everyone else wants her to be. She is a cheerleader, girlfriend to the high school football star, popular and miserable. This isn’t who she is. But she is trying to make everyone else happy. Penn and Olivette miss each other but refuse to admit it. Then classmates are dying in unexplained ways. Suddenlt the stories that they loved to read and research about aren’t looking like just tales anymore. As they work together with some friends to stop the killings by Bloody Mary, they are in for the shocks and adventure of their lives.
This book had me hooked from the start. At first I was so invested in the relationship of Penn and Olivette. I wanted them to stop being stubborn and be friends again. Actually I wanted them to be more. They are perfect for each other! Then as the horror story of this book unfolded I was unable to put it down. When I thought I had the story figured out…BAM! Plot Twist! This was the perfect scary story. I hope in the future we hear more from Penn and Olivette. This is a definitely a book that should be on all horror fans favorites shelf.
