What happens when a group of tough vigilantes meets up with a big-hearted family with boundary issues?Reese:It’s supposed to be an easy job. You know, the kind you get after you’ve been gone a while and the boss is unsure of how capable you still are? But then there’s a mugging, an abduction, two thugs, and a blackmail scheme. And smack-dab in the middle of it is a beautiful lost soul who needs … is a beautiful lost soul who needs me. The scared, young gamer-geek pushes all my protective buttons and awakens something inside me that’s ready to dive right in and inhale the man.
But how could I have anything to offer someone like Ben? I’m a mess. Injured, scarred, practically closeted, the recognizable son of a famous man… There’s no way I can ask him to give me a shot at forever. Right?
Ben:
It seems like I’ve been looking out for myself my entire life. Heck, I was even given away the day I was born. And, yeah, maybe if my adoptive parents had survived, I would have had a nice life. But they didn’t. And I don’t. Instead, I’m forced to put up with a hateful, scheming foster parent for the sake of sticking around to care for my little sister.
Only, when a blackmail plan lands little Georgie in the hands of thugs, it’s clear I’m her only hope. At least… until I meet the big, strong bodyguard someone sends to watch over me.
Reese is everything I’ve ever daydreamed about: protective, attentive, affectionate, and dedicated. But he’s hiding something, and I don’t have the time or energy to figure out what. Because time is running out, and Georgie is the only family I have left.
Until the biological brother who never wanted me shows up and turns everything on its head.
After having finally accepted it’s just Georgie and me, suddenly falling for my protector and being surrounded by Griff and the Marian clan makes me question everything I’ve ever known about myself and what defines a family.
Can a guy with a broken past ever build a family with someone who seems too good to be true?
Reading Order Note
CAN BE READ AS A STAND-ALONE.
While the authors recommend reading both the Made Marian series by Lucy Lennox and the Protectors series by Sloane Kennedy, it isn’t required in order to understand the story. At the least, you may want to consider Grounding Griffin (Book 4, Made Marian series by Lucy Lennox) and Unexpected (Book 10, The from the Protectors series by Sloane Kennedy) to get a little bit of background. However, this novel, despite being a crossover, has been written in a way that it can be read on its own.

A gripping and passionate read, I could hardly put this one down. Lots of longing and fiery chemistry melting into a steamy HEA while you ride the thrilling plotline of a kidnapping and hard luck life.

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it’s way less dark than Sloane Kennedy’s Protectors Series but I didn’t mind that and I think that it was a good mix between the Protectors Series and Lucy Lennox’s Made Marian Series. I loved wee Georgie and loved how she called Reese Mr Kitty because his eyes are unique like her tarantula Princess Kitty. Their relationship made my heart melt especially every time Reese would hold her when she was scared or how she’d cling to him. I thought Ben and Reese were great together and I loved seeing their relationship grow and enjoyed seeing them learn how to accept their new found families that surround them as they both are really in need of some more family. Both Reese and Ben’s nervous babbling was totally adorable. I loved how Reese’s team members found an interactive way to introduce themselves to Georgie by creating a treasure hunt of the different bugs living in the vineyard since she totally loves them and it was a way to make her not scared of all the men that are their for her and Ben’s protection but after the ordeal she went through it’s totally understandable that she’d be frightened to see random huge men around their cabin. Man, Aunt Tilly completely cracks me up. I’m looking forward to going back and reading the Made Marian Series again once I’ve finished the Protectors Series as it’s been awhile. I’d definitely recommend this book, both series, both universes and both authors to everyone.
How can you solve a mystery when you don’t know what’s going on?
This is a wonderful addition to both series! It has it all: kidnappings, danger, misconceptions, brotherly love, passion, and the whole crazy Marian clan. Ooh, and adorable kids who love bugs. What’s not to love!
This book follows Ben and Reese as they journey to HEA. The road is long & bumpy. Danger peeks around every corner. A little girl sneaks into your heart & refuses to budge. Loyal friends and loving family pull together to keep everyone safe. You will love this book!
You don’t have to have read either series to enjoy this book. But I recommend reading them.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
This story had suspense, romance and comedy in the form of Aunt Tilly, Granny and Irene. I loved how Reese was automatically protective of Ben and Georgie and how Georgie just took to Reese immediately. I also loved how the Marian’s automatically accepted Ben and Georgie and Reese even though Ben had hard feelings about the family due to the lies he had been told. Everyone got their happily ever after in the end.
Two lost souls who were never able to live their own lives meet and find love. The
perfect Kennedy/Lennox story.
