River & Rose These two were made for each other. Doesn’t water, from a River, make a Rose bloom? HEAs they always get to me. Another lovely, quick read with romance, new relationship struggles and hot lust from my binge of Frankie Love. Mountain Men are the best book boyfriends
Hmmm… What Just Happened?
Overall, I’d say that I liked this story. Sure, Ryder has a LOT to learn about how to treat a woman, especially the one who has taken his name. Signing him up for a Miss Manners class or some sensitivity training wouldn’t be out of line but once Rose realizes what’s afoot, she does a decent job of taking him to task.
Ryder’s rude behaviors aside, I am troubled by the last chapter. The story went from zero to 200mph and back in the blink of an eye. Of course, I expected some drama beyond the trials of a new relationship but I didn’t expect it all to start and end in a couple of quick pages.
Ignoring the last chapter, it was a good read with a cute and fitting epilogue. As usual for a Frankie Love novella, things also got steamy in the bedroom and beyond and there’s plenty of chemistry to support it.
With a writer’s block that has lasted two years, River knows that something drastic needs to be done. He works with a matchmaker to find a mail-order bride and when Rose arrives, he becomes obsessed with her. They may not have a typical relationship but when it becomes necessary to protect her, he does not let anything deter him.
River needs help to overcome is writer’s block ergo the mail order bride. Rose is looking for a place to tape her yoga videos so she takes the plunge. River thins that Rose is everything he is looking for and more but someone is after Rose. Will River be able to keep his new bride safe? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
The Mountain Man’s Muse is book one in A Modern Mail Order Bride series by Frankie Love. I’ve been wanting to read a mountain man romance and decided to go with a familiar author to me. I really enjoyed this. It’s a short, sexy, sweet story that was perfect for an afternoon read.
River Ryder is an accomplished author. But when his ideas ran out, he decided he needed to get out of the rat race and start fresh somewhere quiet. So he moved to Alaska and is living a solitary life. Only it didn’t work. He stares at his keyboard, and nothing. He needs a muse. So why not a mail order bride?!
Rose lives in Los Angeles and is a yoga instructor on her You Tube channel. But she’s just getting started, she’s broke, in debt, and unsure what to do. When her neighbor suggests becoming a mail order bride, she decides that it would be a fresh start, just what she needs.
Rose and River’s first meeting might have started a little rough. But the initial chemistry was there like crazy. One look at Rose and River knew his writing block had lifted. His new wife was also his perfect muse.
“I’ve never met her, but with one look, I already know she is mine.”
I did enjoy this. River and Rose were cute as they navigated getting to know each other. Poor River. He didn’t know how to act. He’d been alone so long. He was overcome both by Rose’s beauty and sweet nature, and by the inspirational flood gates that suddenly opened up in his head. And Rose, coming from Los Angeles to the wilderness of Alaska, adjusting to a new life being married to a reclusive mountain man, is daunting. But she is determined to make it work, no matter what. Even if danger has also followed her to Alaska.
If you enjoy a sexy, short adventure for an afternoon of reading, then this book is definitely for you!
This story surprised me with the depth of emotion I felt for Rose. She may be naive, quiet and a beauty but, don’t be fooled, she is also full of determination, heart and spunk. I love how open and honest she is with River. And, River screws up here and there with Rose but, his heart is always in the right place.
I really enjoyed this romance and it’s happy ending.
