Sexy, British celebrity chef Lucas Nash is bringing the heat. I just hope I don’t get burned. When I won the Southern Baking Championships right out of high school, I never imagined how far that success would take me. The first season of my baking show was a hit, and I love what I do. I’m almost twenty-one, not a teenager anymore, and as it turns out, my agent thinks my girl-next-door image needs … turns out, my agent thinks my girl-next-door image needs to grow up a little, so she sends me on an audition for a new show.
When I find out that I’m auditioning to co-host with the sexy British celebrity chef I’ve admired for years, I can’t believe my luck.
Lucas has had a lot of trouble the past couple of years, though. A nasty divorce. Binge-drinking. Partying. We won’t even talk about those pics of his impressive package that were splashed all over the tabloids.
I’m supposed to be the solution to all Lucas’ problems. Meeting him, though, is just the start of mine.
When we set off on a European filming tour, sparks fly.
Lucas is definitely bringing the heat.
I just hope I don’t get burned.

If you love cooking shows with a side of angsty romance, this book has got it. A few laughs, some good one-liners, a bit of steam, a dreamy guy and a cute southern girl made this worth reading. Love a book with a different idea and this one totally has it.
What a beautiful romance! I really enjoyed the story and the characters. There was potential for the story to take some drastic and devastating turns but, Jennifer Woodhull kept the drama from overwhelming the budding romance between Georgia and Lucas which, I truly appreciated. It is nice to read a simple love story of boy meets girl and after spending time together they fall in love and have a happily ever after.
Jennifer Woodhull is a new-to-me author. Her writing is easy to follow although there were numerous errors that were not caught in editing. Those errors were few at first but increased as the story went on to the point they became annoying. I truly don’t think it was due to Ms Woodhull’s writing getting sloppy. They were common errors that auto-spellchecking would insert and just weren’t caught. If you can overlook that, this is an entertaining story. The characters are very different but blend well together. There isn’t a lot of depth or complexity to this story. It’s just a quick and easy read that doesn’t present anything out of the ordinary. It was OK.
Sweet Promise is my first book by Jennifer Woodhull and I do look forward to reading the remaining 2 books in the Graham Family Series.
Sweet Promise is the love story between a young all American, southern belle Georgia and Lucas a man 8 years older and a successful British chef.
Georgia is a true family girl, who loves to bake and is just finishing up her début season of her baking TV show, when an offer to co-host a new food and travel show lands in her lap. When Georgia finds out her Co-host is going to be one of her cookery idols, she has to prepare herself to stand firm against his cocky, flirtatious, womanising ways to do the job she has been hired to do.
Lucas is a suave English Gent and a successful British chef and TV personality. Lucas has recently gained a name for himself as a womanizer after his wife was publicly caught having an affair. When Georgia catches his eye during their screen testing something changes and he is transfixed by this southern belle.
Their story is a sweet slow burn, with little elements a trouble getting in their way as they find themselves falling in love. The Author gives us some strong secondary characters in John, Celia and Rome. and I look forward to reading more about them in the future.
One thing I admired was the Author’s use of English nuances throughout the story. Being from the UK I found these pretty spot on and liked the authenticity it brought to Lucas’ character. Overall a very sweet read, with a touch a drama that has family at the heart of it all.
