A new constellation of wisdom and healing that is modern and timeless. Word by word, Wendy E. Slater will illuminate a new path for you and the healing of self-blame and judgment. The poetic method and wisdom of her words will radiate into your soul, and liberate you from constraints of self-blame and judgment. Be transformed by these modern mystical poetic formulas and allow the heart-fire of … the heart-fire of her wisdom to take your soul on a journey… to transform, release and transmute you into remembering your authentic self and your inner wisdom.
Let your inner fire ignite and discharge you from your tethers, both known and hidden, so that the true continent of your authentic self is revealed and formed. Be guided through the geology and geography of your soul, as it remembers that the separation of self, love, and Divinity is merely an illusion.

This is my first read by Wendy E. Slater, Of The Flame and she writes poetically story like. Drawing out emotions as she writes about pain, nature, the world we live in, and inspiration. She chooses strong words grabbing the reader to feel “But like being locked in … A strip mall for 7 days… Straight under neon… Lights and bland… Chitter Chatter”
The author is honest and raw as you flow through the words, with an emphasis of self reflection.
“And I so long… For home…In the hearth…And always…Of the flame…
I took from her writing to be honest with yourself and don’t be afraid to be authentic.
This is a wonderfully curated collection of poems. I’ve started a number of mornings by reading one of these with a cup of coffee, and I’m grateful for the insightful mindset it put me in each time. Opening the book at random and reading the first poem I landed on I found to be as equally entertaining as reading through page by page. This collection is unique in its focus and contributes a sense of attending to the real moments in our lives and being present to the human experience. It contains thoughtful, revelatory, and quiet-inducing works to bring us all back to our true selves.
No doubt this will be read & reread over the years to come.
After a twenty-year hiatus from writing poetry, Wendy E. Slater composed 20 volumes of spiritually inspired poetry, which began in 2001 during a mystical sojourn to Scotland.
Her poetry reflects deeply on both the hidden and revealed relationship of nature, the cosmos, humanity and the healing of archetypes both esoteric and known, in the individual and collective psyche.
Her poetic formulas are both wisdom and method; a sharing of words that opens doors for readers and invites them on their own spiritual journey of awakening and healing.
This was a wonderful collection of poems that I believe will serve people on different levels depending on their way of feeling and emotion at the time they start to read. The poems cover a range of subjects from love to anguish to comfort, all of which pulled on my heart strings as I yearned for the peace that this collection of poems provided. After reading I often found I wanted to sit in a quiet place reflecting on my life and what really is important and what really matters. Beautifully written and thought provoking is my opinion, well worth the read.
This is the first time I read a book with poems, and I quite enjoyed it. Personally, I have always liked writing poems and would only read poems if they were assigned to me in literature classes. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see a book of poems that have a similar vibe to my own poems!
The best part is that each reader could interpret it in a different way. To me, I managed to relate it to my own life and experiences. Another good point is that I could literally read this anywhere. I found myself picking it up while I was at the coffee shop, or even when I was feeling a bit down at home.
The author’s writing is absolutely beautiful, and I enjoyed most of the poems. Free-style writing is one of my favorites as I can read it like a story.
Of the Flame by Wendy E Slater
This book of poems starts out with praise from others about the author’s works.
Different angles of love relationships, some are sad, some happy and very deep soul searching.
Very deep and emotional as I can picture the scene the author writes about in my minds eye.
Very inspiring and spiritual.
Received this review copy from the publicist and this is my honest opinion.
This is my very first poetry book, and I really enjoyed Wendy E. Slater’s vision of everyday situations, this is so different, so raw and so intense. There is some symbolism that reflects the world and the fear, the love, the hate every single one of us, humans, have every day. And to be so completely transparent in this way of writing only can deserve respect from the readers. Take a leap and start this different and great poetry book because you’ll find yourself re-reading this, of that I’m completely sure. So enjoy and start a new and different way of seeing life.
Of the Flame: Poems-Volume 15 (The Traduka Wisdom Poetry Series) by Wendy Slater is a compelling collection of poetry. With nature themes, an emphasis on self-discovery, and an interconnectedness between us all, Slater welcomes you to enjoy this energizing, bold, and in-your-face collection. Below is a sampling of her force:
I would never
Build a monument
In your name,
But I will plant
A forest in your honor
To see the love and life
We share
Into all.
With powerful imagery, the poet proposes striving for world peace. The essence of who we are as humans is wrapped up in each other, the world as a whole, as the four elements, earth, wind, water, and air figure prominent in this collection. Riveting, emotional, and engaging, this is the perfect collection to stir your imagination. Highly recommended.
Spiritual poetry that is written purely from the heart, in my opinion can be some of the hardest hitting and emotionally compelling. Author Wendy E Slater writes her poetry in the hope of bringing people together and attaining global peace through her spiritual writing. She believes that we are all deeply connected through nature and I have to agree. Wendy’s poems are concise, very bold and undoubtedly for me hit a nerve giving me reason to sit and ponder the truth of our damaged world. A brilliant collection of poems from Wendy. Well done.
Vermont poet Wendy E. Slater is a follower of Traduka – defined on the website as healing sessions that are designed to release and re-pattern energetic blockages that are constricting the electromagnetic frequencies of life force energies, subtle energy protection, clearing, repatterning, and recircuiting of the energy fields to re-harmonize and realign the heart, mind, body, and spirit through in-person or virtual healing sessions, customized alchemical body sprays and modern mystical poetry. She combines her clinical background, education, training, hands-on healing, intuitive insight, alchemy and healing poetry for unique solutions to healing the inner self. OF THE FLAME is her fifteenth volume of poetry.
Wendy is that type of poet who opens our eyes, our hearts, and our minds with a warm arm around the shoulder, a sympathetic and empathetic delivery that instantly binds the reader to her. These poems, quite simply, are eloquent, not only because they are offered with a desire to invite us to join her on the path to enhanced perception of the world and our place in it, but also because she manages to infuse that sense of spiritual respect that is so often absent in contemporary poetry.
A sample of two of the many moments of insight and support her poems offer follows:
I cannot wait to see,
Truly sense with my eyes
Ears and tasting
The vibrant flame
Soon to be back
Home again
Roaring and blazing
Coursing and climbing
And receding
But always
Forever
Present in my exhale
And inhale.
Inspiration has arrived
And the purring return
To home and hearth
To ground into flame
The passion
Of life’s purpose and journey.
Spend moments with Wendy’s poetry and sense the awakening she invites.
This is intelligent poetry—of mind, heart, and spirit. Every person who reads *Of the Flame* will take away something different. Each person who delves into these poetic lines will draw from them what they need—a healing of psyche, a consciousness of existence.
Here is an example of my understanding of Wendy E. Slater’s dramatic work. She uses repetition for emphasis as is 1501-1502 the line: Where are you? Her question begs the answer, a need to discover not just the physicality but also the emotionality in time and space of the person she is seeking and also her own inner being. Her question is not merely directed to an external someone, but also internally, as when a poet speaks to his/her own self.
Her line breaks enhance and enforce her lyrical, luscious language! In 1507—the poet gives us the whimsical, but in 1524 we are faced with the sublime, supreme, and sovereign declarative of divinity.
This is my body,
My terrain,
My home of worship,
Do not postulate
Nor impose
What is best,
As if a superlative truly existed,
For my body
Knows exactness
Not as a location in times and space
With boundaries and constraints
But as an always
Comfort, home, hearth
Of mine.
I read and continue to read these verses before I write fiction. What a gift of a mindset! Poetry is the language of the sages, the language in which we speak to God and the deific in ourselves.
In these pages, Wendy E. Slater renders us a painter’s palette, replete with colors that can be drawn into stunning landscapes to traverse with infinite care! Here is a score of music, rich in rhythm and balance. Her linguistic paintings are an entire sketchbook that poses yet also responds to soul-searching inquiries. This is not a facile collection to be read in one sitting, but to read and to savor many, many times over.
Of The Flame: Poems-Volume 15 by Wendy E. Slater is part of her Traduka Wisdom Poetry series that continues her journey of awakening and healing. Her verse takes you on a journey that has many levels of implication, keeping you engrossed throughout the book. Thought evoking verses that brings new ideas and direction the way you think of things. Not all the poems spoke to me, but several gave me a different insight.
My favorite poem in Of The Flame would have to be “I would never”. Wendy E. Slater honors a loved one in a way that allows them to continue giving to others, even after death. It is a beautiful memoir and dream to give tribute to one who has passed by planting them a forest, a tree, wild flowers, and inviting life to congregate out of reverence.
A collection of poetry that will move you. These spoke right to my soul, my core. Written as part of a spiritual journey, it feels as though you are peeking into Slater’s very being as you read. The themes are varying, and each is as deep as the last. I cannot recommend this enough for anyone who loves poetry, or is on a spiritual journey of their own.
In the world of free publishing and poetry, it is hard to run across a poetry book that is not only good but that I connect with. I must say Wendy Slater is someone I hadn’t heard of before, but look forward to reading in the future. Not only or her poems touching, but summer fun and some are just plain out there. This is a book I highly recommend to those who love poetry and semblance. I loved it!
Of the Flame, Poems – Volume 15 by
Wendy E. Slater
I received a copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The second in the series of spiritual poetry by Wendy E.Slater who has succeeded in creating beauty with words, using language to convey meaning and feelings, finding the temperament that suits.
The words are written with the intention of reaching out and connecting to the reader.
“ What is between us
And within is inexhaustible , “
The phrases are relateable, allowing us inside the thoughts of the author. In my opinion, poetry should alter who you are after reading it and evolve with you. Each reader takes something different out of each one and makes a very personal inspiration to each expression.
The high ratings and reviews already present for this book are not surprising as the talent is detectable in the context of the words.
“ The resilience is alive
At home in my tender heart “
There is charm and appeal expressed in the prose, giving it a powerful impact, the rhythm generating different levels of emotions. We can justify our emotional reaction in response, not by the author who has created this work, but of the discovery of ourselves experiencing it.
Of the Flame is an engaging collection of insightful, moving, and rather beautiful poems, even when the subject matter engages on a darker and more sorrowful level. I found Slater’s structure to be well-crafted and cleverly put together, and certain lines kept coming back to me long after I closed the book. Although I’m not a frequent poetry reader I feel I will now begin seeking out more poetry in between reads of my more regular genres.
