The perfect man for me is the one I hate most. #gofigureDating is hard.Dating in your thirties is even harder.Dating in Chicago is harder still.I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, but in the age of swiping right and Netflix and chill, I’m wondering if everything is as temporary as my marriage turned out to be.Truth is, there is one guy I can’t get my mind off of.Roarke Baldwin … get my mind off of.
Roarke Baldwin has salt and pepper hair I’ve dreamed of running my hands through and I’m pretty sure that if I checked he really does have a six pack of abs underneath his suit. And I’ve always wondered what that stubble on his face would feel like between my thighs.
The problem? He’s the one man I hate more than my ex-husband…
His divorce attorney.

I knew Piper Rayne was going to pull it off I just didn’t know how. Getting little tidbits of Roarke from Hannah in the previous books I knew it was going to take a lot of convincing for me to like the guy. Well I was in for a surprise because it was rather easy to like the guy once Hannah gets to see the guy behind the lawyer. He has so much swoon worthy materiel, but the clincher for me was his pet. I knew right then Piper Rayne didn’t have to do much more for me to be won over by Roarke. Now for Hannah it’s a different story because their past has set a one heck of a hurdle for Roarke to win her over. I highly enjoyed this one as I do any book by Piper Rayne. You can never go wrong with one of their books. I also loved the set up for Piper Rayne’s next series. I can’t wait for it!
4.5 stars
This is the story I’ve been waiting for and it didn’t disappoint.
Hannah is disillusioned when it comes to love and relationships. She is determined to stay away from them both after been hurt in the past but her ex husbands divorce lawyer is just as determined to change her mind. Lawyer Roarke is yummy. There’s nothing about this man I didn’t love. Knowing how skittish Hannah is, he has his work cut out for him just trying to convince her to spend time together. Coming up with a plan, he goes out of his way to prove to her that he’s not the man she thought he was and slowly sets about changing her mind on the possibility of ‘them’.
I’ve read every book by this author duo and I’ve loved every one. The characters all have traits that are easy to relate to, the banter between them is brilliant and offers a few laugh out loud moments, the chemistry is exactly what I wanted and there’s plenty of sweet moments to make you fall for Roarke. Another sexy, sweet and funny romance from Piper Rayne.
Piper and Rayne always seem to keep the best for last with these three book series. Even Hannah said it of herself and Roarke, lol. But, it’s true. Victoria and Reed were a fantastic start in Manic Monday, then Chelsea and Dean took up the torch and carried it proudly into an Afternoon Delight, leaving Roarke and Hannah with Happy Hour.
Roarke didn’t start out in the best of lights in Hannah’s eye, what with him being her ex’s lawyer and all, but once he decided that he’d given her enough time to get over her anger at him, he made his move.
The intensity that Roarke brought to the table was felt even through my kindle. This man is hot with a capital H. Volcanic in fact, and Hannah matches him with her own fire. Their banter lit up a room and the sexual tension just bubbled under the surface.
When Roarke comes up with a devilish plan for them to get to know one another better, Hannah wants to say no, but with the Gala hanging in the balance she has to give him a chance.
That’s all Roarke needed, one chance and boy did he make good on it. Hannah got to see the real man behind his tough, no nonsense mask and it brought her walls down.
The push and pull between them kept the story moving forward, Hannah is quite the match for this sexy, cocky man. She’s her own woman and knows she doesn’t need a man, but she can want to have one. She still needs her friends though and seeing all three together is like watching family get together.
I do wish that Piper and Rayne would write these books in dual POV, it would be so great to get to see what Roarke was thinking. But, still, this was a fabulous read and I can’t wait for the Bianco brothers’ stories that are coming next.
This is the last in the Charity Case series. Hannah has been through a nasty divorce. The boy that she grew up with and married ended up being a cheating scumbag who took her to the cleaners in the divorce. Roarke is the best divorce attorney in Chicago and represented Hannah’s ex in the divorce. Hannah hates Roarke because of his part in her marriage ending. When Hannah desperately needs a venue for her charity’s fundraiser, Roarke obtains one for her on the condition that she gives him five favors. Roarke hopes that through the favors, Hannah will be able to get past how they met and see him as worthy of dating. This is a nice enemies to lovers romance.
Happy Hour…oh HOW I LOVED Happy Hour! Piper Rayne is a FABULICIOUS author. Her characters, her funny and sinful romances make for some of the most glorious and entertaining reading experiences I adore. Yet somehow, I find myself saying that with Happy Hour, it was even better than her previous stories. This was a sizzling HOT, crackling with delicious tension romance with one mighty sexy silver fox of a hero and a heroine who makes him bring his A-game!
This book was AWE-FREAKING-MAZIN! Lots of fun, lots of seduction and sexiness, plenty of heart and a hell of a satisfying plot! Hannah and Roarke’s story is just THE BEST and is my favorite. I can’t imagine the next book topping Happy Hour. This had EVERYTHING and THEN SOME. I just can’t stop gushing about it! So if you haven’t picked up Happy Hour yet, RUN and scoop it up TODAY. You do NOT want to miss it!
Happy Hour gets a WICKEDLY DELIGHTFUL FIVE GOLDEN STARS!
I just love smart and funny romances that remind me of a Golden Era Hollywood movie and Happy Hour is a perfect example! It could’ve easily been a golden oldie that starred Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn, with incredibly witty dialogue, and told in a fast paced and hilariously funny story line. It’s not all laughs though, there’s some drama to make us feel a little emotional and keep us on our toes. This gem is a Standalone, told in alternating POV, and it’s the third book in the Charity Case series, it’s the perfect summer read!
Hannah Crowley divorced her cheating husband a year ago and despite their prenup he was able to keep half of what Hannah’s grandfather left her in his will. All thanks to the divorce attorney he hired; one of the best money could buy and someone she should’ve hired, as Hannah’s father told her more than once. She’s still a very wealthy woman and runs a charitable organization that helps women that relies on galas to raise funds. When the venue for the upcoming event cancels on her on short notice she forced to find a suitable location to host her event as soon as possible. Hannah and her staff have exhausted every option, without success, and she’s at her wits end.
Roarke Baldwin is a very successful and in demand divorce attorney. He was attracted to Hannah when he represented her husband in their divorce and knows that she doesn’t think highly of him, especially after she lost so much in the settlement. He did his job; he’s told her repeatedly, something he was paid to do. When Roarke finds out she’s in a bind he offers to help her out, on a condition. Or rather he’ll do it in exchange of five favors, all so Hannah can get to know the real Roarke, as he so eloquently pleads his case to her.
“He thinks that by the end of this period, court will see his side of this case.”
“What could that possible be?”
“That Roarke Baldwin really is a good guy.”
As Hannah agrees to Roarke’s conditions, and starts to get to know him, we’re in for a huge surprise when he slowly reveals his true self. As he tells her:
“I’m not only the callous, unfeeling man you see me as when I’m working in the city. I’m the boy who got his heartbroken at a young age that defined his jagged line of thinking when it comes to trust.”
I love this thoughtful, self-made and amazing man! He’s much deeper than what he projects and Hannah is drawn in; hook, line and sinker. And this epilogue had me happy sighing at the end!
Wonderful, entertaining and fun to read! The silver fox was a really yummy character, so sexy and arrogant, yet when we get to really know him, he’s a regular guy with his vulnerabilities and a golden heart. Hannah is everything we already knew about her, a millionaire heiress who wanted to empower young girls. In this book we learn her reasons, very altruistic. She grew up with money, he made his own money. We learn in this book that it made a difference.
Roarke Baldwin wants Hannah. Hannah hates him with a passion because Roarke was her ex-husband’s divorce attorney and she feels she took too much from her in favor of the cheating jerk. They keep meeting at the Trellio club and he keeps needling her. When he discovers that she needs a venue for her non-profit gala and can’t find an available option, he offers her the solution, but it comes with a price: five favors, to be determined by Roarke. Once it’s made clear the favors will not be of a sexual nature or demeaning to Hannah, she accepts the conditions and the game is on.
The chemistry between Roarke and Hannah is hot hot hot, and Hannah is having a hard time resisting. As she gets to know the man behind the arrogant attorney façade, her resistance starts to melt. Roarke comes from humble beginnings, his childhood is the reason he doesn’t believe in love, yet, he wants to come home to a woman, share his mornings with a woman, and the only woman who fills that desire is Hannah. His courtship of Hannah is romantic. relentless, and so very convincing. Once Hannah sees the vulnerable man, she’s a goner. However, the damage done to her soul by her ex-husband’s cheating makes it difficult to trust any man. When the man is as handsome and successful as Roarke, it’s even more difficult. Even though he assures her she’s the only woman he wants, she still doubts and sees problems where there aren’t any. They have a lot of growing together to do!
Chelsea and Victoria also appear in this book, and they are true to form. Chelsea is pregnant and hormonal and crazy. Victoria is the voice of reason, responsible and sweet. Another friend also appears, Gwen, a former college roommate.
The pace of the book was great, it was funny, romantic, a little bit angsty, and very passionate. Lots of sexy and sweet times!
* MUST READ ALERT *
GAH!!!! The Charity Case series are over and I have to say my friends, Happy Hour slayed it with the ending. I loved all three books. I love how Piper Rayne adds the “extra” at the end to start the introduction for their next upcoming series. With that said, I will forever by a fan of Piper & Rayne!!! #unicornpower
Happy Hour as you know is Hannah’s story. I love that it can be read as a stand alone, but believe me when I say it would be great to read the other two books first. You will understand the three strong and amazing women better. Now let’s talk about Roarke. I was not on his side from day one *previous books*. I was #TeamHannah all the way. In Happy Hour, wow did this guy pull out the works to win Hannah’s heart. I mean from the first moment he told Hannah he wanted her, my walls crumbled and I happily went to #TeamRoarke.
Now there is a lot of drama and a whole lot of chemistry with these two. Hannah does her thing because of her past and pretty much wrecks the future she can have. I have faith in Roarke and could only hope for the best. I had a lot of laughs and a lot of “Uh Oh” moments with this series. Piper Rayne works perfectly together adding there uniqueness to their books. I am so excited to see what new characters they will bring us next for me to fall for!!!
NO SPOILERS!
Happy Hour was a sexy, funny, and highly entertaining standalone romantic comedy in the Charity Case series, and I absolutely loved it! The storyline and characters were phenomenal, and I loved Piper Rayne’s writing style and sense of humor. I’ve truly enjoyed every book I’ve read from this amazing author duo, but Happy Hour has definitely been my favorite so far!
The storyline was incredible. I honestly didn’t know what to fully expect with Roarke and Hannah’s story, but it was even better than I ever could’ve imagined. It was a sexy, sweet, and fun enemies-to-lovers romance, and had everything I wanted, needed, and so much more. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end, and couldn’t get enough. Piper Rayne completely knocked it out of the park with Happy Hour, and I truly couldn’t have loved it more.
The characters were fantastic. Roarke and Hannah were even better than I hoped they’d be, and I completely fell head over heels in love with them. I loved their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. Roarke had many layers and was a lot different than I thought he’d be. He was kind, compassionate, and handsome, but a sweet/dirty talker too, which was a huge bonus. Hannah was strong and independent, but also kind and compassionate, and I felt an immediate connection with her. Roarke and Hannah were both stubborn at times, but they truly were a perfect match for each other, and I adored watching their love story unfold. Even though Happy Hour was solely written from Hannah’s point of view, I still felt a strong bond with Roarke. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve loved Happy Hour even more from both of their perspectives, but Piper Ranye still won me over, and I absolutely loved the conclusion to Roarke and Hannah’s story.
Happy Hour was a sexy, hilarious, and utterly addicting standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and the rest of the Charity Case series! Piper Rayne did an outstanding job with this book, and it has been my favorite one from them to date. Happy Hour was excellent from start to finish, and I was ecstatic with the outcome to Roarke and Hannah’s story. Piper Rayne has done a fantastic job with the Charity Case series, and I can’t wait to read their next one, the Blue Collar Brothers series!
Charity Case #3
Just when I think this charismatic couple of writers can’t possibly come up with a better story than the last, they blow that thinking right out of the water!
With Happy Hour, we get the final story in the trio of friends with Hannah and Roarke. They have been simmering in the back stories of Manic Monday and Afternoon Delight just waiting to have their story heard.
I absolutely love Hanna, she is the definition of classy, sassy and a little smart-assy! She is poise and grace, but has principles of steel when it comes to what she believes in. And sometimes that can backfire on her. She also has a vulnerability that she doesn’t like to show especially when it comes to Roarke.
Roarke, what a silver fox, what a silver tongued devil. He receives the wrath of Hannah because of the past and his part in it. But he proves he is a fighter. He is relentless in his pursuit of Hannah and it’s swoony to read! He too takes some missteps in the relationship he is trying to build. But the way he proves his feelings to her is brilliant! As a vintage gal myself, I love to read about older characters, who have more experience in the world.
As with every other book by Piper Rayne, you get a fantastic vocabulary entry into the dictionary of Piper Rayne! I am not gonna spoil it, but when you read it, you will know!
The epilogue was fantastic! What dirty, dirty teases that the duo of Piper Rayne are! Cannot wait to see what they come out with next!!
This is one of my favorite books by these authors. I couldn’t put this book down. This was such a great well written story.
The Silver Fox is an apt description for Roarke Baldwin. His commanding presence is reinforced by his good looks and his ability to get what he wants both in and out of the courtroom. Hannah Crowley isn’t unaware of Roarke’s appeal and despite disliking the man who represented her ex-husband during their divorce, she can’t deny her physical attraction to him. But Roarke is the enemy! He helped her ex get more than his fair share in their divorce settlement! It was HER money and property that SHE inherited or earned and her cheating Ex didn’t deserve any of it! So a year later when Roarke offers Hannah a solution to a major problem she turns him down flat. She doesn’t want his help thank you very much!! But Hannah’s back is against the wall and she is desperate. All she has to do is grant Roarke 5 favors. It’s a win-win!
Leave it to Piper Rayne to create an interesting and unique plot where the reader is drawn towards falling in love with Roarke as he collects on his 5 favors and in the process reveals his true self to Hannah. A true self that becomes irresistible to Hannah. As this story unfolds Hannah has Chelsea and Victoria, her employees and friends who had their own stories in the Charity Case Series, to support and commiserate during office hours and over cocktails. Their interactions are hilarious and it was fun to catch up with the girls and their hotties! This reader thoroughly enjoyed Happy Hour, especially the way Roarke’s true character was revealed as the story progressed. His hotness factor grew when he took Hannah to his hometown for his sister’s wedding, exposing his real self and vulnerabilities to Hannah. The real dilemma becomes whether or not Hannah can let go of the past and ever trust a man again.
Hannah Crowley is an independent and happily divorced woman with an unadmitted crush on the one man she despises more than her ex.
Roarke Baldwin is a sexy silver fox that always gets what he wants and he has his sight set on Hannah.
When Hannah finds herself in a tight spot, Roarke will come to the rescue by way of offering her a solution to her problem in exchange for something relatively insignificant that will make her see him in a whole different light.
Once again, Piper Rayne delivered a clever, fun and sexy story. This time we have an older couple who briefly crossed paths during her divorc. Two people who have deep ingrained trust issues, never want to marry and that will struggle to come together.
I loved the characters especially Roarke and how he is so different from anything one might expect. The banter with Hannah is great and the way he weaves himself into the fabric of her life even better.
Happy Hour is a great ending to the Charity Case series and I can’t wait to meet the Bianco Brothers and their HEAs!
4.25 firecracking stars
I could give this book more than five stars, I would. It is that good. This is the third, and final book in this series, but you do not have to have read the other two books, to enjoy this one. Hannah is the beautiful, but strong woman, that is still angry over her divorce a year ago from her cheating ex, that carrys over to his attorney, Roarke, also known as the “silver fox”. Along with her anger at him, she is also very attracted to him. What develops from there is a very fun book, that will keep you laughing. You will also love the sweet, hot romance that develops between them. Once I started reading this book, I had a really hard time going to work each day, because I wanted to keep reading. I loved this book from beginning to end, so I highly recommend it.
