Not all heroes are good guys. With a body count on his soul and blood on his hands, Killian Nox lived in the gray. Ruthlessly single-minded, if he wanted something, it was his. And when it came to the gorgeous lass with a fiery attitude, he didn’t just want her.He needed her. With southern-bred manners and a snark all her own, Augusta ‘Gus’ Allan was a connoisseur of cheap wine, delicious Mexican … cheap wine, delicious Mexican food, and good TV. Unfortunately, her taste in men wasn’t as well-developed. When her knight in shining armor turned out to be a douche in tinfoil, Gus never expected her real hero to be a sexy-accented, tattooed beast of a man.
But he was exactly who she needed.
Gus had no clue how comforting a monster in the dark could be…
Until Nox.
Warning: Recommended for readers 18+ due to awesome things like adult content and language… wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Until Nox by Layla Frost is book three in the Hyde Series in addition to being apart of the Happily Ever Alpha Series. This is the story of Augusta ‘Gus’ Allan and Killian Nox. This book can be a standalone but both series do intertwine with past and future characters.
Gus is moving into her boyfriends apartment because she needed a place to stay. But when she goes to his apartment with her things he had a ‘sleepover’. Gus goes off on him in the hallway which leads Nox to offer his place.
Really loved this series and this book. Read the whole series into the next day…could not put them down.
I read this book back before I started actively writing reviews, so with the release of the audiobook this was the perfect opportunity to finally rectify that.
Augusta “Gus” Allan was just in the process of moving in with her boyfriend when that was interrupted by finding out he was cheating on her. Lucky for her, Nox just happened to live next door and witnessed the whole scene and gave her an opportunity to stay at his place in exchange for watching his dog while he was gone for three weeks. Apprehensive in the beginning but realizing she was basically homeless she accepts. Even though they are separated for the majority of the beginning, you can feel the chemistry between these two with just the phone calls and text messages. But when he gets back early and convinces her to stay, this is when their relationship starts to really develop.
Until Nox is part of the 2018 Happily Ever Alpha World so we also get see the Maysons in their story. When Gus is notified by Susan Mayson that her Meema is hospitalized, Gus runs back home to Tennessee. It was so great to catch up with the Mayson clan. This move really accelerated Gus and Nox’s relationship, and due to the help of the Hyde clan they give him the push to claim Gus as his own.
I seriously loved this book so hard! Killian Nox is one bada$$ alpha male and the way he is with Gus is so very very swoon-worthy. He is possessive, protective and so dang sexy. Gus was just so hilarious, she is one feisty southern woman with the best comebacks.
As for the audio version, I remember reading this novella back in April of 2018 and kept thinking how sexy the accented Nox must have sounded so when the announcement came out that this one was coming out in audio, I 1-clicked it as fast as I could!! The narrators, Alex Kydd and Lauren Sweet were amazing!!! Their performance completely exceeded my expectations. I’ve listened to it multiple times and still has not gotten old. 5-stars for the book version and 5-stars for the audio version!
4.5 stars. I really liked this novella!! Killian Nox was a super hot, protective alpha male and he worked well with Gus. I loved Gus’s meema; she was a hoot. The pacing of the novella was good, considering there’s always so much to squeeze in to not a lot of words. I also always enjoy having the duel POVs between the hero and the heroine. Loved the Epilogue as well!
Gus had a bad feeling about moving in with the guy she was dating. Unfortunately, she didn’t have any other options for the time being. So when she showed up to move in it came as a shock to find a woman leaving the apartment. When a scene develops in the hallway, a beast of a man steps out of his apartment across the hall. Before she knows why she trusts him, she is staying in the beast, Killian Nox’s apartment while he is away. Can a chance meeting really lead to your soulmate?
Layla Frost is so unbelievably talented, it should be illegal. Nox is off the scales hot with a Scottish accent. I will fight anyone who tries to say this man is not the most perfect book boyfriend ever! He is so protective of Gus, so totally gone over this quirky girl. Gus is a sweetheart, so freaking adorable that I wanted to be her bestie. She is the perfect match for Nox. I literally didn’t want this book to end and yet I devoured it in a day, I just couldn’t help myself. All the stars for Until Nox!
Until Nox is book three in the Hyde series by Layla Frost. I’ve been wanting to read this forever. I had heard so much about it and I have to let you know up front, that it was amazing.
Augusta (Gus) Allen was officially homeless. Gus lived in Boston and was working on her Master’s degree at MIT. Her roommate had moved in with her boyfriend leaving Gus to find a new apartment. But one bedroom apartments in Boston were hard to come by that were in her price range. So she had agreed to move in with the guy she’d been dating for the last two months. Only that didn’t work out the way it was supposed to either. And Gus finds herself in even more of a pickle. Until the man across the hall, a beast of a man who should scare her but actually has exactly the opposite affect on her, offers her a place to stay, and changes her life forever.
Killian Nox wasn’t a good guy. But he wasn’t a bad guy either. He sort of lurked in the gray areas of life. Killian always got what he wanted. And he wanted Gus. She was his obsession, she was his fantasy, she was the pulse that kept him going each and every day.
Killian and Gus begin their relationship as roommates, then as friends. Killian doesn’t let on that he feels more, that the wanting he is keeping inside him is killing him. But once again, Gus is dealt a blow. Only this time, Killian is there to catch her.
There are things these two need to talk about, though, before this can go any further. Killian has to tell her about him, his past, and what he does to make a living now. Will Gus still want him when she knows the truth?
First of all, let’s talk about Killian Nox. Killian who is half Scottish, half Irish. Killian who has a drop dead sexy accent, especially when his emotions, either lust or anger, are heightened. Killian who is all alpha, you’re mine mentality, who you know could easily kill a man, but treats you with the utmost of care and decency. And there is Gus, who might seem fragile, but is a tough, independent woman who is everything Killian has ever wanted.
This book was perfection. This can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series. This author just does it for me. I love her characters. They are tough yet vulnerable. These two were perfect for each other and the epilogue gives us some adorable glimpses into their future. I look forward to much more by this author!
Awesome story of Gus and Nox! I love that Nox had a dark side to him and I can only imagine what his voice would sound like in real life – SO SEXY!
Meema was a GREAT character add. I loved her personality and whit throughout the book.
I enjoyed the how the characters from ARR’s Until Series came into play aswell.
All in All, I thought it was a super HOT read and will definitely be reading more from Layla! 🙂
I fell absolutely head-over-heals in love with this story!!
Low on drama/angst and overflowing with heart, Until Nox gave me many of the things I desire most in a story: a hero who’s a modern day outlaw-ish good guy (maybe? maybe not? oh, that bad boy thin line he rides!), a heroine who’s your every-day kinda girl, strong, but yet soft and sweet, a insta-love story that feels real, and a couple who’s basically together from the get-go and can (gasp!) communicate (haha!).
Killian Nox won me over with his attitude, his alpha-confidence, and his respect/consideration of Gus. How he took care of her and respected her just melted me! I’d say more, but, you gotta experience Nox for yourself! *swoon!*
Gus was so stinkin’ awesome — I love her confidence, her determination, her loyalty, her sweetness, her sass, her maturity, and her openness. She made me fall even harder for the story.
Together, they were perfect!
I loved how this tied into the Maysons in Tennesse (ARR’s Until characters) and we got to see some sweet, beautiful moments with them.
This is definitely not a story to miss out on!! Totally gave my heart all the feel-goods and made it to my favorites shelf. I can’t wait to revisit this story!!
Loved this book!! Why did it have to be soooooo short. Could not get enough of everything in this novella.
4,5 stars
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
(This book was part of the Kindle Worlds.)
From the moment that I read about Killian Nox in the book ‘Best Kase Scenario’ (the second book of the Hyde’s series) I was looking forward to reading his story. So when I discovered that the next book of the writer Layla Frost would be Nox’s story, I was very happy and excited about it. And just like her other books I enjoyed this story from the begin until the end. You don’t have to read both books in the ‘Hyde’ series to read this book. The story is a novella book with both POV’s in it.
Life can be full of surprises! That was what Augustus Allan (but her friends call her Gus) discovered on the day that she would move in with her boyfriend. The last thing that she expected was for a strange woman to open the door of her boyfriend’s apartment! Or that her boyfriend’s neighbour (or more preciously her ex-boyfriend’s neighbour) Killian Nox would suggest, after witnessing their ‘fight’, that Gus would move in in his apartment! Did she made the right decision to accept his offer?
The fact that she’s taking care of his dog while he is away is, is making everything alright and safe, isn’t it??
Nox may be far away but that doesn’t mean that Gus doesn’t talk to him. No, they are talking to each other through the phone and through text messages and soon Gus is realising that although Nox looks dangerous (and okay maybe he is dangerous!) but that doesn’t make him bad on the inside. But just when Gus thinks that there could be more between her and Nox a family emergence calls her back to her home town. And just when Gus accepts that this mean the end of ‘them’, she will discover that Nox may not look like a white knight but he sure is acting like one. And some dreams can come true.
From the moment that the story started I knew that I would have fun with Gus. She’s a very likeable character (she’s intelligent but also what naïve) and then you have Nox! A hot, tattooed guy with a Irish accent who looks dangerous (and yes he can be dangerous too) but he’s not all bad. He’s very good to Gus. I love the combination of them both and the side characters were also very great. Especially Gus’ grandmother was such a fun character! She had me smiling a lot.
Although ‘Until Nox’ isn’t a full-length book, the writer really wrote a wonderful story. The story had everything I could hope for in it. I never had the feeling that the story was rushed or that it missed anything in it. It was a very pleasant read. I’m already looking forward to the next book of this writer.
