In the sixth installment of the Rocking Racers, Breaking Free by Megan Lowe, we finally get the story of Parker!!! Don’t worry you will get to catch up on all the previous racers we have grown to love also. One of the aspects that I just loved about this story is the multiple point-of-views, even the ones I wasn’t expecting that just made the “feels” of this story that much more. My heart reached out to all of them.
Even though at times I wanted to slap these characters and ask them “what are you thinking?!!!!” I chalked that up to great writing that evoked strong feeling while reading. Along with the story line of “self” feelings that everyone deals with at times.
Parker and Halliday grew up together, did everything together until one night things changed, feelings changed and then poof, a life changing choice is made.
Ashton loves Parker and believes he is the one who got away, until a second chance happens and she won’t let him get away again.
Halliday is back after years being away. But what she comes home to isn’t what she was expecting.
Parker who sternly believes in the family curse and karma, doesn’t ever want to bring anyone into his cursed life. Now he has not one but two women vying for his attention, but will his curse end up leaving him lonely?
Great story line, with a lot of “stuff” inside that I don’t want to give away. Well written, the story just runs so smoothly that the next thing you know its over (insert sad face now).
This is the sixth book in the Rocking Racers series, and for anything to make any sense you should read the previous books before this. We have heard all about the curse that the Ryan men seem to have, but the others overcame the fear and let love guide the way.. but the others hadn’t already lost the one they loved, not like Parker has. For Parker his life now is very different from his past, now he works the diner and takes care of his son, Chris. Parker tried to have relationships before and knows all to well how the curse works, so he avoids any type of relationship, and friends with benefits is his thing. When the first love that broke Parker’s heart comes back to town to stay, can he avoid the feelings she stirs? What happens when he suddenly has two women from his past vying for him? Will Parker let the fear of the curse keep him from moving forward in his life? Which woman will he pick?
This was a really good story, and I don’t normally like the love triangle trope, but this was written very well. With the push and pull drama, I was really glad it was nothing over the top. Add in some really good sexy time scenes, and some funny side characters, and you get a very entertaining story. I give this 4 stars.
Wow!! Just Wow!! This series just keeps getting better and better and that’s hard to believe as I have loved every single one of these books so hard!!! And what?!?!?! Parker and that dirty little secret that you have been hiding!! Gimme some more of that hot stuff!!! Blew my socks off with that!! These Ryan men I need them in my life! The triangle that was so obvious with Parker, Ashton and Halliday was so heartbreaking. But when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be and there is nothing you can do to change that and someone is really going to be heartbroken. And Christian love his little heart! I was so excited we got to see a lot more of him in this book. I think he is one of my favorite children in a book. He will have you laughing and crying in this book and I really want him to have a book too!! I actually don’t want this series to ever end!! I highly highly recommend this book and this series!!! – By Tina
