With dragons like him, who needs enemies? Real scholars know that supernatural beings don’t exist. But the moment I meet … scholars know that supernatural beings don’t exist. But the moment I meet Archer Andras of the Storm Dragons, all my academic training goes out the window. Thanks to Mr. Tall, Dark, And Infuriating, I’m learning that I really should worry about those things that go bump in the night. . . and that dragons like Archer are 100 percent pure trouble.
Now I’m caught in the middle of a war. On one side is Archer. On the other is his twin brother. And I am the key to translating an ancient text that could bring balance-or deadly ruin-to our world. But none of that is as dangerous as the seriously sexy sparks between Archer and me. He’s too tempting to be real. Too gorgeous to trust. And when it comes to dragons, there’s no smoke without deadly fire.
Includes the novel WOLF’S MATE by Celia Kyle: When Abby Carter is threatened by an anti-shifter organization, werewolf shifter Declan Reed will have to convince her that there’s no safer place in the world than in the arms of a big bad werewolf.

I didn’t realize that this was book 2 in this series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone and be perfectly understood. Thaisa has been thrown into a world she knew nothing about and is just trying to understand and make it through to the other side. She is a smart woman but she definitely has hand ups, although I guess after dealing with them her whole life, who wouldn’t? That was my only drawback with this book, she kinda harps on her looks a lot and compares them with Archer. Archer definitely reminded me of this author’s other dragon characters and made me laugh. A lot! And after reading this book I did go back and read the first one to make sure there wasn’t anything I had missed. There are a lot of parts that will make you laugh, there is definitely action, and some suspense thrown in as well. I enjoyed it, I just didn’t like the whole harping on the looks part. The second book is by Celia Kyle, and that is the first book I had read by that author. I thoroughly enjoyed that one! And have since gone looking for the rest in that series and to see what other types of books she writes! So in this one you get a great read by 2 different authors! Well worth it!
YES!! Just what I needed. A little PNR to shake things up. This baby is hit shelves March 5th. It’s book two in the Dragon Hunter series and its FIRE !!
I am an avid fan of MacAlister’s Aisling Grey stories and thought to dive right in on this book, Why, you ask? Because DDDDRRAAGGGOOONSSS! I love them, Lol. In this book we have Archer Andras and Thaisa. I have to say that it took me a while to read this book, there were some lull moments and I just couldn’t get into it, Archer needs help in stopping his brother who is causing all sorts of problems in his territory. He is tasked in finding a scroll that Thaisa so happens to have. Thaisa is a world class linguist and historian, together all with all sorts of other things happening they embark on a journey that will allow Thais to transcribe the scroll, unlocking Archer’s full Dragon potential. I did find numerous parts of the story funny and the sexual chemistry between them was hot! After all he is a dragon, Lol. An enjoyable read, that seemed rushed towards the end and left out parts of the story missing, in my opinion. I liked it, I was just looking for something more? 4 stars*****
****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley*****
Day of the Dragon:
Its a little difficult to describe Day of the Dragon without giving anything away. There are a lot of twists and turns to old tropes that keep the plot moving and fresh. I thought the new twist on the rival dragon clan to be an interesting one. The family dynamic that ran throughout the story was exceptional. i was left feeling a little let down regarding the information provided regarding the hero’s mother. She never became an identity though everyone else did, including the fire. It left me feeling less like she was a woman with her own story and more like she was a convenient plot device. Considering how much I adore Katie MacAlister’s work, that was probably more of a let down than if someone else had done the same thing. The dialogue was well done and at parts I found myself laughing loudly and reading it to family members. The heroine was a delight. I found her very well-developed with a sincere and not overly done conflict with friends and potential glass ceilings within her field while still showing the moral “evil” that some women face as well as humaitys ability to become their own worst monsters. Overall, I enjoyed the book and definitely recommend it.
Wolf’s Mate:
This is the first book I’ve read by Celia Kyle and I absolutely loved it. You are introduced to a mix of shifters working as a military or high end security styled team. The difference between them and your typical group is that the group isn’t made up of your typical good guys. Instead, these guys are ones that were recruited for their skills after they had led a life down a much darker path. Like Suicide Squad, they’re the bad guys doing good that you don’t want to see fail. You cheer for them, love them, and long for them to find their happy ending. It allows them to step outside of the expected since you don’t know what limits they have or how deep loyalty among them when tested. The heroine had a sassy mix of independence, skepticism, and damsel in distress that allowed for humorous and nail biting situations. It was an appreciated combination that wouldn’t allow me to put the book down. This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Katie MacAlister, Celia Kyle, and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read these books and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.
An entertaining, action packed, emotional and engaging adventure filled with danger, mistrust, secrets and passion…. This struggle between the brothers was exciting and heart pounding, the witty banter and comical situations with Archer and Thaisa made this a very enjoyable read.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but it in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also, this author is new to me, but not for long.
OMG!!! This story was gr8. I haven’t laughed so much as I did with this story. Thasia is one saucy, strong woman. I love the fact she’s older woman, (ok, thirties isn’t really so much as in old, but she’s not a twenty-something). She made me laugh with her antics and anecdotes. Archer was pretty funny in his way as well, (somewhat old-fashioned). This story also has touch of Indiana Jones\Lara Croft. I truly enjoyed this read. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Also note, Book 2 was Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle and I left a separate review.
Day of the Dragon by Katie MacAlister is book Two in the Dragon Hunter Series. This is the story of Archer and Thaisa. I have read the previous book (and Loved it!) but feel you wish to make this a standalone you can. Thaisa doesn’t have self confidence in her looks due to her unique look which has lead to looks and comments. But what she does strive in and have confidence in is studying ancient artifacts, becoming a scholar. Archer is a dragon shifter who has been at war with his twin bother for several years, each killing or harming the other members of their tribe. Now, he thinks he has found a way to end the war which leads him to Thaisa. Archer never really planned or thought of finding his mate during this time but that is what Thaisa is turning out to be. Thaisa with her low confidence didn’t think someone like Archer would be attracted to her but he is making her see that she is more than she thought. I liked their banter, which kept things somewhat light.
In addition to the great book, there is a 2nd book added called WOLF’S MATE by Celia Kyle, which I also very much enjoyed.
Two full length stories were included in this book. Both were well-written, entertaining and sexy. Day of the Dragon: The heroine is a human, a scholar and a language expert, who does not believe in the supernatural. Then she meets Archer Andras – a dragon?!? The two have amazing chemistry and nothing will be the same for either of them. Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle: Abby Carter is in danger, and werewolf shifter Declan Reed comes to her rescue. But she is not going to just trust him – he is going to have to prove himself. These two have amazing chemistry too, and the fast-paced story kept my attention to the end. I enjoyed these books and look forward to reading more books by these authors.
Back in the day I read all books by Katie MacAlister. Now I ocassionaly pick up one (my to be read list is a little on the long side). Day of the Dragon wasn’t quite up to par with the usual dragon books. I liked the quirky heroine, but Archer was a cardboard copy of most of the dragons we know. He lacked, well… character.
The story itself wasn’t too bad, but it felt really easy. It’s slow going and without a good plot filler. It was suddenly all resolved by the heroine’s smarts. I’ll give the third book a try when it comes out and see if it’s better.
I do like some of the quirky turn of phrases by the author: hats of asses. 😉
Who doesn’t love a good dragon tale? MacAlister delivers again with another gut-busting, action packed dragon hunter novel to add to her back-list. Where book 1 gave us a human thrust into the role of a dragon hunter, DOTD focuses on a dragon shifter and his quest to save his lineage. Under the direction of his wayward cousin, Archer Andras is now on the hunt for a dragon scroll that tells the tale of his birth (alongside his brother’s) and how it split the dragon lineage apart in to two factions that are now at war. The scroll holds the key top unlocking Archer’s full potential as a dragon hunter, one prophesied. But the scroll is in the hands of one delectable human that Archer can’t seem to get his mind off of. Now he’s fighting for more than just his own namesake, now he’s fighting for his mate.
Thaisa, a secretly world-class translator and historical extraordinaire, has some wacky friends. When a much needed girl’s night out leads to dragon and magic talk, she’s convinced she needs to head home. But when she arrives, a man claiming to have purchased a new, rare scroll is there to collect. Dashing and devilishly handsome, Archer talks Thaisa into letting him take the scroll but it’s the biggest mistake of her career. Under her boss’s threat to retrieve it, she has to navigate a new world she’s never even dreamed of. Dragons, fairies, magic, and demons are all a new part of her world and Thaisa is stuck right in the middle of it. All the while Archer is by her side warming her with his dragon fire and tempting her to leave it all behind. Despite the world of magic, in order to save Archer’s people, their future, and even Thaisa’s Gran (threatened by her boss), only Thaisa holds the key to translating the scroll to unleash Archer’s true power.
Filled with the typical wit and humor from any MacAlister book, this fantastical story reminded me a bit of King Arthur. A runaway prince, dreaming of finding his true destiny and a lovely maiden to tie it all together. This is true fantasy wonderfully melded with the modern world. Rocking side hicks, hilarious hi-jinks, and demon battles to keep even the slowest reading flipping the pages faster and faster. Another truly wonderful addition to the massive library that is MacAlister’s fantasy romance come to life!
This is a two book deal. The first story is Day of the Dragon by Katie MacAlister. Archer Andras is head of the Storm dragons and at war with his twin brother Hunter who is head of the demons. They a both looking for an ancient manuscript leaf which once translated will change the balance between the two clans. Archer purchases the leaf and hires Thaisa, a scholar of ancient texts to translate it. Archer must protect Thaisa as his brother tries to get both the manuscript and Thasia. Along the way, Archer realizes that Thasia is his mate. She translates the leaf and realizes that both brothers must come together to create a balance.
I liked this story. I especially loved Bree. She was a riot throughout the story constantly confusing Thasia with the things she says. There are other secondary characters that add to this story and make it interesting. There is a twist towards the end of the story that explains the conflict between the brothers. This story can be read without having read the other Dragon books. I look forward to more books in this series.
Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kyle is the second story in this book. Abby Carter is a cougar shifter who is an accountant. While doing the books, she stumbles on information that the corporation is supplying funds to an anti-human organization. Now her life is at risk as they try to get back the information she downloaded and how much does she know. Declan Reed is a werewolf who works for the Shifter Operations Command. They too are watching the corporation. Declan realizes that Abby is his mate and does everything he can to protect her from the organization.
I enjoyed this story. It was suspenseful and the characters interesting. It was a quick read and I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
Ok so, this was my first time read by Katie MacAlister and I’m still trying to sum up thoughts towards this book. I’m such a sucker for dragon shifter reads, so it was a no brainer to give this one a try. I so, soooo wanted to like this, but there were some things that just wasn’t work for me.
For me, it started off a bit slow and it didn’t seem like it was going anywhere. Between Archer and Thaisa, I liked Archer slightly a bit more. I couldn’t quite pin down the kind of character that Thaisa was, she kind of read to me like a very young and sometimes immature heroine and other times, very much like an adult. However, I really loved what her job was and the fact that she knew many languages, which served up some hilarious moments with Archer was speaking a language he didn’t think she’d know!
Archer is every bit of an alpha and can’t take no for an answer. He’s bossy to a fault, which can be a hang up for some readers, but it wasn’t a huge issue for me.
There’s definitely a lot going on in this story and it constantly felt like I was being ping-ponged across a table and I wasn’t exactly sure what direction it was going. Things definitely pick up in the end, but I was hoping for a bit more fine tuning with the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed the steamy scenes between them both, we see a different side to the both of them especially Thaisa. The way she was with him during these moments were very different from her everyday character.
Thaisa is every bit a quirky character, but her heavy doses of word vomit seemed to happen at the most inconvenient times. I wanted to connect with her more, but just couldn’t.
For the most part, I was enjoying some of what I was reading, but there were things here and there that just threw me off and found it hard to recover. I don’t want to give up on this series because it could definitely develop into something amazing!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM FOREVER. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR CONTENT OF MY REVIEW**
Loved this story! It was scary heartwarming and sometimes just plain funny. You can’t help but love Thaisa and her attitude with Archer she is smart funny even a little hard on herself but it makes the story that much more. Archer is a gorgeous man who never thought he would find a mate much less be amused and in awe of her brains. When Archer comes to retrieve the page he paid for he is attacked buy a woman he would never have paid attention to but her fieriness makes him look a little deeper.
You also get an additional book with this called Wolf’s Mate
Abby just wants a simple life after what she went through as a child at the hands of Unified Humanity hiding after they killed her parents. Working as an accountant is about as quiet as it can get until she stumbles on a discovery of money being wired to the Unified Humanity. With that discovery she has tipped off the owner and the SHOC who had been watching them for weeks but something about Abby intrigues DeClan and he is gonna save her.
DeClan feels such a connection to Abby that he is defying orders ,saving her and hiding her. Everybody wants her but not like DeClan does his wolf wants her cougar and the attraction is mutual. Abby and DeClan are fighting against the world but when they hid out at his brother Pike’s house someone rats them out. Now that Abby is missing DeClan is gonna pull out every stop to find her no matter what.
This story is full of danger and passion and of course shifters, Abby and DeClan are both tough and brave hopefully they will let down their walls for each other.

Wow what a fantastic book. It told us of 2 brother who hated each other but never really knew why. It was told that one day things would change but they never fully understand how. In the process Archer found his mate and they began to pieces the puzzle together. This story made us give in to our imagination and took us a that magical journey. This is a must read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
*4.5 Stars*
“I love you. I don’t know how it happened so fast, but you fill my heart, and I will love you from this moment until the time when I draw my last breath.”
Historical scholar Thaisa is out with friends enjoying a drink and girl talk when in walks Archer. Tall, dark, and oh so over the top smexxy, Thaisa knows she doesn’t stand a chance. But no one is more surprised than she is when she finds herself abducted by his twin brother Hunter and then rescued by the object of her lust. And if that wasn’t terrifying and exciting enough, they just happen to be dragons! Toss in a mouthy sprite, demon summoning, a mystery to solve, and a lot of verra hawt dragon sex, you get a quirky fun read that is almost impossible to put down! Highly recommend and look forward to more of this series!
