Storm Princess was unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Utterly unique and intriguing. And elves!
I’ve been on a quest for current romantic fantasy reads with an elf main character. I was so thrilled to see Jaymin Eve come out with this new series at the end of summer.
Everly Frost is new to me but after this book, I will checking out what else she’s written. Meanwhile, on to book 2!
Jay mom Eve and Everly Frost team up to give us and action packed new story! This was so much fun to read! I can not wait for the next book. This story was so unique in nature. It’s about a young girl who is chosen to be the “mage” (best way to describe the role) of the storms. She has the power to control these overwhelming storms that overtake their world. Without her their world would t survive. This particular book goes into how she got this position and delves into her personal relationships with the women and more around her. You will not regret picking up this book.
Wow, this is a great book! I’ve read several books of Jaymin Eve, but this was my first book of Frost’s and I was pleasantly surprised. I was shocked at how hooked I was even from the first pages. The plot is deep and twisting, and the Storm Princess’s magic and daily battle with the Storm gives it a sense of urgency that’s maintained until the very end. Marabella and Baelen’s relationship is just plutonic and deep on so many levels. The ending has a massive hook making you immediately want to jump into book 2 which I can say I love when there are several books in the series already published. I’m very excited to say this is my next binge read.
The Princess Must Die is book one in the Storm Princess Saga that’s is co-authored by Everly Frost and Jaymin Eve, and what a team these ladies make.
In an Elven city beneath the streets of Chicago, the perfect storm rages, kept under control only by Marbella Mercy, the Storm Princess. Now she is of age, champions from each of the elven houses will play a game of wit and strength to fight for her hand – and for the chance to control the forces of nature.
Baelen Rath, a warrior and leader of the feared House of Rath, is the only male Marbella has ever trusted. He’ll risk everything to be her champion. But what he and the others don’t know? The princess is fighting too.
Because she’s discovered that the winner is cursed to kill her, not marry her, and the only way to save herself is to win.
But Marbella is fighting a power greater than herself, because someone believes that the perfect storm should be unleashed and for that to happen – the princess must die.
Elves and Gargoyles use to have a treaty and moved there civilizations to safety in a magically created world under the surface of the earth. But something happened and caused them to become enemies, causing the Gargoyles to send a magic storm to wipe out the Elves. But one young woman is chosen by the Storm to be the Storm Princess, the only being able to sustain the power of the Storm and subdue it. But being the Storm Princess isn’t all glory, there are rules about how she lives, and interacts with others but a big no no is she can’t ever touched by anyone. Until she is married and even choosing a husband isn’t as easy as it sounds, there is a tournament where each house has a representative to be Champion. The Princess knows that a curse has been cast on the tournament that will compel the winner her husband to kill her, so she enters the tournament as her own champion.
Marbella Mercy is a kicka** Princess she is strong, loyal, protective and willing to do whatever it takes to fight for what she loves, even if that’s to sacrifice her own happiness. Her characters strength grows and flourishes as the book progresses and it a sight to see.
Baelan Rath is my current book crush, he is loyal, stubborn, determined and damn sexy. What he went through is amazing and he’s come out of it stronger and more determined than ever to go for what he wants, and he is totally bada**.
The secondary characters deserve a shout out as well, the Storm Guard are nothing short of bada**, the are what every girl needs in a group of friends. They are bound by duty but they are more than her protective guard. Sebastian, Jasper and Macsen are a great combination of friends to Bae, their he’s loyal and trustworthy mates, that literally risk their lives for him.
I really enjoyed this book, Ive read other books by Jaymin Eve and I love her style, but this is the first for Everly Frost and I can honestly say I look forward to reading her other works. Interesting lore surrounding Elves and Gargoyles, I’ve never read anything like this before. I’m ready to learn more about the Gargoyles, and can’t wait to see what happens in The Princes Must Strike.
I had no idea what to expect out of this book other than the name of the title and and the cover. I was surprised at how well the book came together. The authors give you info about the Princess Marbella and her troupe. Y’all her troupe is badass and so is Marbella. This book was so intense and I absolutely loved the fighting scenes as well!! Marbella is a great heroine and I truly enjoyed her story, her world. The world building in this book was great. I absolutely loved Baelen. #Swoonworthy
That man will do anything for Marbella. Loved it. Looking forward to reading the next book.
I listened to the audiobook and I thought the narrator was great. I felt like she portrayed the characters in the story well.
This was a wonderful book!!! Marbella had me trapped in the storm of her life from the beginning. This was such an interesting story of duty verses making your own path. The story keeps me guessing as the trials change and you struggle to determine who is good and who is evil.
This book caught my eye, as I’ve read several series by Jaymin Eve that I’ve thought were incredible (Secret Keepers, Curse of the Gods with Jane Washington, and Hive Trilogy with Leia Stone). At this point, if I see she’s involved, that’s good enough for me to give it a go. I hadn’t read anything that Everly Frost had written or co-written before The Princess Must Die.
This story is incredible. The main character is a strong, take-no-prisoners type that has been forced to live a lonely life, and she doesn’t shy away when life gets hard. I felt it was really well written and developed. If I had any qualms, it’s not the authors’ faults by any means. The novel seems to be getting grouped in with a lot of the reverse harem genre (perhaps because of Jaymin Eve’s collaboration on Curse of the Gods), but this story isn’t a reverse harem to me. There’s a strong female lead and a lot of male characters, but only one male love interest. Jaymin Eve often has that type of scenario – it happens in Secret Keepers and The Hive. That’s not to say that this book isn’t brilliant; it definitely is. However, if you’re looking for a true reverse harem, this probably isn’t it (it’s also slow burn).
Unusual world and interesting characters. It’s by Jaymin Eve, so you know you’ll get a good story and a well-edited book. It’s not my favorite of her novels, but I liked it enough that I’ll pick up the next book in the series.
Great news series and such a rich new world. The second book in the series is even better so I can’t wait for the conclusion!
The Princess Must Die a five-star read that will stop your heart. This is my first read by Everly Frost but I will be checking her writing out as this was great, I know Jaymin Eve co-wrote it but I already know she’s amazing as I’ve read everything she has published I think. What a story, I want to go to Chicago so I can go digging to see me an Elvan city, this story sucked me in so badly I was sobbing and I didn’t even realise. The world building s second to none, they really blew me away, you could see sunrise and feel the wind blowing, see the artificial sky and stare in wonder. The Storm Princess will blow you away with more than just the wind, they way she interacts with her Storm command will make you wonder and the passion she feels for Bae will melt your heart like a warm sunny day. There is plenty to keep you hooked in this story and the twists will keep you guessing all the way through. The Princess must Strike can’t come quickly enough.
