They were each other’s biggest mistakes. Hers, for letting him in, and his, for letting her go.Seven years after what was supposed to be the best night of Victoria’s life, she is finally ready to return home and face the memories that she spent so long running away from. She is certain she has moved on, but the minute she sees Gabe Matthews, all of the feelings she repressed come right back up to … back up to the surface. Gabe says he’s changed, but can she ever truly trust the man who shattered her heart all those years ago?
Gabe Matthews was not a good man, but he had spent the last three years doing everything he could to redeem himself. When the only girl he ever truly cared for walks back into his life, he is faced with the ultimate test: do the right thing and let her go, like he tried to do so many years ago, or be selfish and make her his. He wants to be the good guy, but sometimes, chemistry just can’t be controlled, and Gabe will be damned if he lets Victoria walk out of his life a second time.

This book contains mature content and language, including (but not limited to) sexy romance scenes and plenty of f-bombs. You’ve been warned.

Hooked On You is a great debut book by Brittany Anne that I could not get enough of. Her writing was superb throughout and the storyline kept me gripped. I simply did not want to put this novel down.
This story has a very heartbreaking backstory and it plays a pivotal element throughout the entire story. This was a tale of pain, regret, moving on and letting go of past guilt. The emotional turmoil that Gabe and Victoria go through to come out in the end was raw and heartfelt. I found this such a beautiful story, with emotions and addictions both playing a major role. This was exceptional writing from a talented debut author.
Brittany Anne has such a wonderful way with words, the story was well written and it flowed together just perfectly. It certainly did not have the feel of being a debut novel. She has definitely gained a loyal reader in me and cannot wait to read more of her future work.
Victoria has always had a crush on her best friend Amy’s older brother Gabe. When they spend an unexpected night together, he purposely breaks her heart the following day. Fast forward years later & Victoria is now a psychologist who has returned home. Gabe has been leading a self-destructive life but immediately sobers up after a devastating accident. When these two see each other again sparks fly & it’s not the good kind for Victoria. Will Gabe be able to own up to how he treated her, or will her anger cloud her judgment to see he’s now a changed man?
There were some loose strings that I wish we had more clarification on (like the girl in the treatment class – did she eventually open up & talk to Victoria? Did Gabe & his father work things out? Anything romantic happen to Jason & Kara?). This was a good read about a man finally waking up & changing for the better. Unfortunately he had to go through something terrible to change his life for the better.
3.5 Stars
Overall I thought it was a good book. The characters annoyed me many times. While my knee jerk response is to criticize this fact I shouldn’t because they invoked emotion. Something every writer strives to attain. I mean, there are plenty of people in real life who annoy us. The story moved along and few misspellings. I wish we would have had certain things wrapped up before it ended. What happened with Gabe and his parents? What about the kid struggling with the same dependency as Gabe? We know Jimmy was doing better in the end but what about the others. There were some holes I wish we had filled.
I really enjoyed this book, it was my first one by Brittany Anne so i wasn’t sure what to expect, but i was presently surprised.
The writing was very different to what i was used to readin but when you you really got into the story you didn’t want to put it down. What i loved about this writing is you really got to feel and get everyone’s point of view.
Have had been through a lot but he really needed to do something to redeem himself as he was really nasty at the start and i didn’t know how his character would go but i must admit he grew on me and you could see he was really trying to be the best he could.
Victoria was a lovely character very innocent but she really brought some good to the book, i felt so sorry for her and just wanted her to get her happy ending i really enjoyed reading her character.
This book had me reading it fast so i knew what would happen, it certainly gave us some curve balls and surprised us with how the story would unfold.
This book was pretty emotional and it had me feeling sad and hopeful and really brought out that people can change for the better you just need to give them a chance.
A really fantastic book, easy to read and get caught in the story.
