My name is Abigail Summers, and I’m an addict. My addiction? Sex. An endless cycle, I need a man to take my body on a daily basis. It’s the only thing that keeps my head clear and numbs the unbearable pain of withdrawal. I don’t know why I’m wired this way, I just am. I know what some people say… what they think I am. But they’ve never been in my shoes, never tried to tame this beast inside me. they’ve never been in my shoes, never tried to tame this beast inside me.
I gave up trying to control the cravings a long time ago, now I embrace them. It’s why I don’t do relationships.
Then he came along with his wicked smile and captivating blue eyes and screwed everything up.
For the first time in my life, I find myself wanting more from a guy who looks at me like he wants to claim me. A man who most definitely will not be okay with sharing.
I want him over and over again, not because my body demands it, but because I can’t live without him.
I have a new addiction.
Colt Maverick.
Will he be enough to satisfy my sex junkie desires?

Holy sh!t!!! This book has left me speechless!!……this book!…….this book! Let me tell you……when I saw the cover and then read the book….never has a cover fitted a story so well! Wow, just wow! Protective, sexy and dominant all in one!
This book gripped me from the start and not just because it was hot but because it dealt with a condition that most people probably wouldn’t see as an issue or may be not have a lot of empathy for.
Alex wrote it in such a way that you felt every bit of emotion that not only the two main characters felt but also those of the secondary characters felt (the circle of friends).
There were times were my heart was literally on the floor and times where I nearly threw my Kindle, as if I thought that would stop Abby making some of the decisions she did……..and Colt?……..Oh my! That man! Please, please, please, go and one click this book!!!
Abigail ( Abby) is an addict. She must have sex or she suffers horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her whole life is worked around her finding her next fix. Her friends help her, but she can’t see a end to the endless one nightstands. She can’t have a relationship or get close to anybody, as they wouldn’t understand…
Then by chance she meets Colt. He’s everything she’s ever wanted in a man. He makes her want to fight her addiction. He makes her dream of a better future…
Can Abby fight her addiction? Will Colt save her from herself?
Omg! This was one of my favourite books of this year. It was so good!
Lots of hot and steamy moments. I was totally glued to my kindle wondering what was going to happen next with Abby and Colt. Liked all the side characters too. The story in itself was an addiction….Love Alex Grayson’s books
Sexual addiction.
We hear about it, but do we really think it is possible to be addicted or do we as a society think it is excuse to lead a promiscuous lifestyle? I have read about sexual addiction in a story before and I loved how it was done in that book and this one. Alex always leaves me wanting more with her books. She has a way with her characters that make you attach yourself to them, make you feel everything they feel, even making you empathize with them.
When she writes about Abby’s physical pain, you can wrap your head around what she is going through. She is in a constant battle with her body.
“She may be addicted to sex, but I’m addicted to her, and I don’t want to be cured of it.”
Colt has his own addiction. He cannot get enough of feisty Abby in and out of the bedroom and he is going to prove to her that her addiction does not define her or her future.
Abby doesn’t know if can commit to one man, but Colt is just the guy to prove her wrong.
Another addicting read from Alex.
This book was so good I have not read a story like this before.
Abigail Summers is a sex addicted she craves it, she needs it, by day she works a normal job but by night she needs to go out and pick up random men to feed her addiction, if she doesn’t have sex she gets cramps and shakes I suppose it’s like being addicted to drugs and going through withdrawal she struggles daily with it.
She doesn’t do relationships although that is what she would like and one day have a family too. But with her addiction she fears she wouldn’t be able to be faithful to one guy.
She can’t control it, it isn’t her fault.
Enough to be able to be together.
I really felt for both Abby and Colt how hard she fights I really loved the connection they have.
Will Colt be enough for her? Has she found her new addiction…
She has tried therapy and talking to Doctors but nothing has worked for her.
Until Colt, can he give her what she needs to satisfy her uncontrollable desires?
I read this book in one sitting, I kept having to turn the pages just to see what would happen next.
I have to say I was nervous before I started this book. It’s odd but in a world filled with “slut shaming” and ridiculously one sided views on sex, I was worried I’d be judgy (totally a new word. Webster’s will soon be adding it). I don’t know whether I’ve read too many naughty romances or what but, I was empathetic not judgemental.
To most people the idea of sex daily is pretty awesome. ( My hand is totally raised on that one.) However the difference between wanting and needing is very different. To be physically dependent on another for release or suffer horrific withdrawal…Yeah, that makes me and my whining about wanting it more often sound completely juvenile- it is but shh, I’m trying to make a point.
I can’t tell if my history and views of self worth make me more sympathetic but I really enjoyed this book. But not for the reason you might think. Don’t get me wrong, hot sex is…well, hot. But Always Wanting is a different kind of book. Sex wasn’t for the sake of sex- it was clinical. It was a medicinal act.
Without giving away the entire story, know this…
Sometimes we can overcome things that tear us apart. Sometimes we need help. Other times we just need love and support. But don’t let my philosophical ramblings mislead you, not everything has a cure.
Always Wanting is a unique story about a real problem. I think it’s well and tastefully written. I really enjoyed the gamut of emotions and feelings it draws out of the reader. It makes people more aware of a complex addiction. I truly enjoyed the story and I hope we learn what happens to the rest of Abby’s support group/friends.
reviewed for the Sweet Spot Sisterhood
I enjoyed a new take on a romance novel. I have to admit I have never read a book about hypersexual disorder before Always Wanting.. I loved the uniqueness of the story and how respectfully the author handled such a sensitive subject. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters and the secondary characters that I hope will also have stories.
I loved it every bit as much as the first time I read it.
Yes, this book is that good – it’s a re-read. Especially as I’ve just discovered the second and third books in this series.
I was totally enamoured with Abby and Colt, and my heart was in my mouth as Colt hung in there, even as Abby overcame what must be the most heart-breaking of all addictions that I can imagine a partner to have.
Even harder, he knew the score going in, and he went for it anyway. This man is a true hero, and his name gives true meaning to the words ‘unconditional love.’
As for writing a review, I can’t add any more than has already been said regarding the plot, except to say that Colt and Abby are such an amazing couple, and had so much to overcome with her addiction. I highly recommend this book as a beautiful and disturbing read, even as it was as hot as it was heart-warming. 5 Stars
This was my first book by Alex Grayson and I have to say what an introduction to her work. If this is what I can expect then count me in because this author is one that I will be keeping my eye out for. This isn’t usually a topic people talk about and it is one that a lot of people judge, especially if that person is a woman. The whole double standards and all that. Alex did a great job showing us what someone who is affected by this addiction could go through and what would be running through their minds.
Abby suffers from Hypersexual Disorder, which means she goes out and has sex daily usually with different men. Ok, I know what you may think, ugh I don’t want to even read this book but you really, really need to give it a chance. Abby doesn’t enjoy this disorder, she has tried to stop but she suffers greatly when she does. Anyways she meets Colt one night and he captures a part of her no one else has. She wants more with him but doesn’t think she could ever have a normal relationship. Colt wants her heart and a normal relationship with her and is determined to get her to see it can work. There is a niggle of fear in the back of his mind that he won’t be there for her when she needs him but he is going to do whatever it takes to prove to her they can make it work.
Will he be able to show her? Will Abby be able to not cave when the need arises? Will the withdrawals be too much for her too bare? Will they be able to find a happy ending?
I highly recommend this book. I fell in love with these characters and can’t wait for more by Alex Grayson.
A Relentless, Emotion Pounding Dive into Hypersexual Disorder…
I have long had a relentless obsession with all things misunderstood, abhorred, or labelled taboo. It was what led me to study sociology and anthropology in college. It is what led me to work in clubs, bars, and “alternative” parties, and it is what continues to drive my interests all these years later that I still voraciously read, write, and observe all that I can. I am at home, residing in my truest self, when surrounded by (and learning from) things most feel should be hidden from view or react to with disgust. Why? Because I am endlessly curious why people fear and ferociously judge as “improper” aspects of sexuality and sexual expression outside the realm of societal norms. And let me tell you this story, “Sex Junkie” by Alex Grayson, felt like coming home.
I had previously read Grayson’s book, “Hungry Eyes” and loved it, but upon realizing it was the last in her “Consumed” series, I stopped in my tracks and went back to the beginning. Unlike other series where books throughout can be read as standalones, that is not the case here, and I highly recommend you read them in order so that you glean the full understanding and appreciation of all the characters presented on the story world canvas in order to better understand the characters and scenarios within.
This first installment is the story of Abby and Colt, Abby being a young woman sexually abused as a child by a classmate, and then plagued in adulthood by sexual addiction. A woman desperately longing for a relationship to cherish and call her own, to be able to give and experience love fully, but instead trapped by an unwanted affliction so physically debilitating, so mentally draining and all-consuming, her life is held hostage by her body’s craving demands. And Colt Maverick, a dark and brooding business mogul who comes to see Abby for whom she really is beyond the veil of her addiction. A man determined to show Abby the woman he sees, loves, and is determined to spend eternity with despite the difficulties her condition presents.
It is a beautifully graphic and heartfelt portrayal of the physical outcomes deep seated trauma can affect upon a life. A profoundly provocative portrayal of hypersexual disorder, an affliction for which the validity and basis are furiously still debated about within the medical and psychiatric communities, a disorder as misunderstood and dismissed by professionals as it is judged by everyday folk.
Here, Grayson’s vivid illustration of Abby’s struggle to live her life amidst her body’s overwhelming demand for sexual relief will cleave itself into your chest and leave you aching on her behalf. You will feel every ounce of pain she endures. You will mourn her losses with her, cheer her victories, and feel her longing deep, deep within your soul. You will also see those around her, the reactions to her, and the barriers present in her daily life with new eyes as you discover how the very fabric of our day-to-day lives are fashioned in a way that prevents true discovery and functionality to individuals existing beyond the very narrow veil of “normality”.
This is a brave portrayal of something many view as “just being in your head”, something often viewed with scorn or labeled as “just an excuse” to be licentious and depraved. It is a refreshingly serious take on a disorder that afflicts many, and delves into the meat of how such a thing can come to be. It is a gorgeously written story, one that has made me a huge fan of this author, and easily makes my list of top reads for 2020. I highly recommend this series!
Always Wanting by Alex Grayson
Abby Summers is a sex addict and needs to have sex on a daily basis or she gets in extreme pain and has trouble functioning. She was in a support group but found it didn’t do anything so she and her close friends Nathan and Tegan formed their own informal one with support from Abby’s best friend Ava. Abby finds it difficult to get close to anyone with her addiction as she knows people judge her and have no idea what she goes through.
Colt Maverick is attracted to Abby the moment he meets her but is somewhat surprised when she kicks him out after a night together. Yet Abby can’t get too far away from him when she discovers his niece attends the daycare she works at.
With Colt wanting a relationship with Abby will she try and keep him at a distance, so he doesn’t find out her dark secret?
Alex Grayson is one of those authors that I love to read as nothing is ever the same and this book is no exception! I really wasn’t sure what I was even getting into at the beginning as I need to read books by Alex but this one did not disappoint.
Abby is such an interesting character as I personally have no idea what she is going through but when she tried to abstain she was in so much pain. I found it sad though that she had detached herself so much from sex in order to have so many random partners and only turning to one of two people if she was absolutely desperate and couldn’t find a hookup.
I thought Colt was a great character and I wanted him to be the one to help Abby but I could tell right from the beginning how jealous and possessive he was and I knew that would not be good. He had his own family issues but I knew he would do whatever he could to help Abby but I knew there was bound to be a slip up somewhere.
There was so much chemistry between Colt and Abby was intense and it was obvious that the sex between them was amazing for both of them! I think that’s why Colt was so shocked and hurt after the first time and Abby making him leave and being so cold to him. I laughed so hard when Abby saw him again and figured out who he was.
I was shocked at how stubborn Colt was with Abby and how he kept refusing to let her go as he didn’t want to give up on them. I understood why Abby felt like she had no choice. I liked seeing the two of them work out a plan and try and figure out some sort of compromises in certain situations.
The ending was awesome and made me so happy!!
I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series!

This was a very powerful book that left me thinking about what I would do in Abby’s shoes ….
I really enjoyed this book it was very sexy with a lot of hot sense but it wasn’t just that, that got me hooked it was the powerful story that went with it ..
Amazingly written which I have come to expect by Alex Grayson ….
I’m looking forward to the next book in this awesome series!
I find the blurb interesting, I have never read a book about a sex addict.
To be honest I never believe anyone could be a sex addict I thought it was just an excuse to sleep with anyone you wanted and not have repercussions.
So I decided to go into this with an open mind.
The condition she has ‘hypersexual disorder’ I have never heard of so I thought it was an interesting topic. Abigail is a sex addict and it comes from a sexual assault she suffered when she was younger. She needs to have sex (not wants to do, huge difference) or she gets cramping pains and the shake like you would with anything you’re addicted too but can’t have. Extremely hot sex scenes then she meets the one.
I adore the love story with her and Colt, what man would put up with a girl being a sex addict to the point if he’s not around she will fuck any other male available. He loves her and was willing to help her in any way he could.
It’s a different story to anything you will ever read.
