“I could no more control who I loved than how I came into this world.”
My existence is illegal.
In a world that is barren
And children are conceived through IVF
Love is forbidden.
Marriage is determined by the government.
And I discovered on my wedding day
That I was conceived naturally.
Now the government wants me dead.
Love Forbidden (formerly “Aberrant”) is an interesting YA view of dystopian future. It contains multiple likely scenarios, but unfortunately also a few unlikely ones. At one point the story seems to be turning into yet another “Hunger Games”, but the surprise ending saves the day.
A great read you won’t want to put down before finishing. The action is fast-paced, with lots of hidden agendas, often leading to surprise situations and leaving doubts as to the allegiances of many of the characters. It definitely leaves you wanting to read more of the series.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more. I can’t imagine living in a world where love and books are forbidden. I applaud Olivia for her natural curiosity about books and feelings. She and Joshua show a lot of courage in questioning the validity of the information their leaders provide. It’s no wonder they willing join the rebellion after all they’ve been through to stay together. Easy reading.

Love Forbidden by Ruth Silver is book one in her Aberrant series. I read the prequel to this series, and honestly, I was expecting this book to start up where that book left off. Not the case. Color me surprised. I was honestly a bit disappointed in this fact.
In Love Forbidden, we’re introduced to all new characters. Apparently, time has moved forward because it seems like this is a new generation at Genesis. We are introduced to Olivia and Joshua. They both are of age now (18) and expected to marry whom it is that they have been matched with. At this point, it seems Olivia’s main concern is not getting matched with nasty Levi who torments her. Surprise surprise she’s matched with Joshua. What happens later that day no one sees coming. Olivia is arrested. Then her mother is arrested as well. With the help of her new husband’s mother, she’s able to escape. Olivia now knows the truth. She wasn’t “sanctioned” by the government. She’s a natural born child. Now the government wants her and will stop at nothing to get her.
Love Forbidden is a YA dystopian novel that honestly, leaves me wanting more. I want more about this place. We get some glimpses when Olivia reads some history books, but it’s just a taste of what all has been going on. The story is well paced and keeps me engaged, but I just feel like the story doesn’t measure up to its full potential. There are some exciting moments in this story, but it seems that most of the story focuses on Olivia and her potential uniqueness.
The story has some minor editorial issues but none that really distract or detract from the storyline. There are some unstable moments with the characters personalities which make me raise an eyebrow. They don’t make a lot of sense. One minute they’re hot and then next they are cold. When it changes like that it’s hard not get a little confused.
All in all, I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. I wish there was more dystopian other than the world is a wasteland. I want more danger. War is coming. The world is supposed to be a dangerous place in the Gravelands, but they hardly encountered anyone (just one). I’m hoping that the following books will explain more about how the world is in this story, and we’ll get glimpses of some of the character’s true agendas as well.

It kept me on the edge of my seat! It was like watching a movie when all you want is for a happy ending but there is danger everywhere they go. I think I held my breathe til the very end.
Olivia and her best friend,Joshua, have been lead to believe they are the only city/town left. The government feeds them, shelters them, provides jobs for them, and tells them who they will marry. No worries right?
Well not exactly,Olivia knows she should care who she marries but she does. She has read illegal books with romance in them so she knows there is more to marriage then the picture government has painted. She knows there is another way of making babies besides a lab, but no one is fertile.
when her mother gets caught in an act of treason,Olivia must flee for her life.
To her surprise Joshua flees with her.But just as she feels she is free from the government’s control, the rebel forces want to control her.She is humanity’s last hope. She has a gift that everyone seems to want to exploit.
After the city they’re in is attacked, they must flee again, into the unknown Gravelands. Can they survive on their own? Will they ever be free to live as they choose?

I read the prequel to this book and I fell in love with the series from that point on. I am so glad I continued reading this series. I fell in love with the strong characters and the story as it unfolded. This has action in it and I loved reading it and can not wait to read the next book in the series.

So I went into this with an open mind, not sure what to expect from this book. I normally read paranormal, shifter, and horror books. When I started this I thought for sure I would be bored fairly quickly. As it turned out I got sucked into Olivia an Joshua’s story quite fast. I can’t wait for book two now!

Who do you love? And who can you trust?
The is a great start to a dystopian, post-apocalyptic series with an emphasis on new adult romance. Heroine Olivia is just 18, and now faces either forced marriage and IVF conception by lottery – or exile (death). Her reluctance becomes outright resistance, and she escapes her city along with her supportive best friend, Joshua. Her parents, his parents, the government – ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY – has lied to her about the circumstances of her entire life, and Joshua’s friendship is all she trusts. Their heading flight from tyranny leads them through danger to what appears to be another tyranny bent on controlling them, and a sadistic test to determine their worthiness to survive. The romance is resolved, but Olivia’s and Joshua’s ultimate fate is left undetermined in a bit of a cliff-hanger ending. It’s well done, but those who hate cliff-hangers had best steer clear. Consistent focus on Olivia’s POV keeps the reader in suspense, knowing no more than Olivia about what is true and who is trustworthy. It would be a rip-roaring page turner but for the slow pacing; as much of the narrative is more repetitive than necessary. Still, for fans of dystopian YA thrillers, it’s a good read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is action packed and full of Suspense. Olive and Joshua are best friends and are trying to find a place to stay where Olive will be safe. What they find is more than they ever could imagine. Just when things seem to be working out everything turns upside down. It does not help when Olive is running for her life and Joshua stays by her side to keep her safe. I Highly Recommend this Book.
