Neil is the new firefighter in Shady Piers and he is quite smitten by Charlotte.
Charlotte had a rough time after her mother died. She had to protect her little sister from their father and she did it asking for full custody of her. Now, after 4 years away from them, her father appears again in their lives.
I like the development of the characters. They are very likable, good people and hard workers. They fight for the people they love.
I like how Charlotte takes care of her sister, how she works so hard to provide for her.
The scene of the fire is very emotional. I recommend this series. Alicia Best is a new author who has a lot of potential to become a great one.

Good quick read. Enjoy that her plots are realistic and current topics.
Charlotte has been there for her younger sister for years and that’s not going to change, just because Jeremy, their dad, shows back up wanting custody of Penny. Neil is the new firefighter in town and Charlotte has caught his attention. Will she give him a chance or is she too caught up in her custody battle? I love this short read about family and the lengths one will go to make sure they stay a family. Grab your copy and fall in love with the town and residents of Shady Piers, Maine.
A wonderful read for a rainy weekend afternoon, suitable for all ages, with strong characters and showing the value of persistence.

This is the second Shady Piers book I’ve read and I’ve loved them both. Alicia Best has a knack for making characters accessible and you feel immediately invested in them. Charlotte has been raising her younger sister for four years, ever since her drunken father disappeared. Making ends meet is tough but they’re getting by until a fire at their apartment building. Charlotte is rescued by Neal, the new firefighter. When her father shows back up things get even more complicated and Charlotte and Neal work together to resolve things. This is an amazing story. So many emotions flow through this book. Abandonment, fear, desolation, anger, protectiveness, love – this encompasses so much more than I can say. Life Saver is all of these and so much more – happiness, joy and security. It is a wonderful book.

this is a story of two sisters.the older one is raising the younger one. there is a fire and other problems that effect them. there is a father that is not nice and one nice guy I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review
This is a clean stand alone novel that is so much more than just a romance. This is an awesome story about a sister’s love. The characters are all well done and realistic. The plot will keep you turning pages. I finished it in one sitting. I highly recommend this book.
A suspenseful, clean romance, Life Saver highlights the bond between sisters, as Charlotte does everything she can at the tender age of 18 to take care of her sister in the face of an abusive father. She discovers that as hard as she tries, she is still stymied at every turn, until she reaches critical mass. However, the worst day of her life is the one when her existence takes on a new dimension, adding fire fighter Neil to the mix. Just when Charlotte feels that the universe is against her, she discovers that there are people willing to stand by her and protect her. While her problems are not solved over night, she does find that she is no longer alone. There were a few holes in the story that didn’t entirely make sense, but it is nevertheless an enjoyable and an entertaining read. Although the book is part of a series and characters from other stories appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a stand-alone and comes to a satisfactory conclusion.
Clean Fire Fighter Romance
This short novel is part of the shady Piers Clean Romance series. This story involves a fire fighter and a young woman who is barely making ends meet for herself and her young sister who is her ward. The story is well written with several layers of plot. While the characters are believable, the younger sister acted much younger than 11. I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading more of this series.
