Action is the Antidote to Fear
We tell ourselves we are too busy to pursue our dreams. But what if the real reason we’re putting off our goals is FEAR?
The fear that we’re not good enough, not smart or talented or capable enough. It’s the fear that others might laugh at us, or that we’ll get hurt or be rejected, or that pursuing our true potential will be too hard. The fear that we’ll fail.
But courage doesn’t mean we are never afraid. True courage means taking action, despite the fear.
That’s why in Do It Scared, you will:
- Identify your own unique Fear Archetype™ – the specific type of fear that keeps you stuck – and learn how to conquer it.
- Dare to start thinking bigger about your life and your goals while you also create a concrete plan of action for how to get there.
- Learn how to foster accountability in order to stay motivated and accomplish big things.
- Embrace a new set of core beliefs–the Principles of Courage–that will allow you to push past fear in your own life.
- Learn why the most powerful secret to success is already in your grasp–you just have to know how to use it.

A really inspiring book on how to tackle your fears and go for your dreams. A great read for the new year! It inspired to go for the new year!
Fear has played a big part in my life. At the age of eight, I had my first panic attack. For many years, the fear of not being perfect or not living up to people’s expectations ruled my life. So much so that for a while I couldn’t leave my house. Even though it’s been years since my last panic attack, those feelings are still there, lurching underneath and waiting to come out.
Recently I was asked to present my artwork at a local church. It was a great opportunity and one I didn’t want to turn down. But all of that paralyzing fear, anxiety, and dread came rushing back. The only solution was to “do it scared”. Which I did! Yah!
As a student of Ruth Soukup’s Elite Blog Academy, “do it scared” has been our motto for a long time. And because of my anxiety disorder, it’s something that resonated with me right away.
If you haven’t “met” Ruth online yet, her style of teaching is personable and casual. When I watch her videos, I always feel like I’m having coffee with a close friend. In Do It Scared, Ruth lays out the different Fear Archetypes and gives you practical advice to overcome each one. I learned that I’m a Self-Doubter. But I think my favorite advice is to celebrate the wins along the way. Cuz, honestly, I forget to do that and just rush into the next thing on my to-do list.
I highly recommend both “Do It Scared” and one of Ruth’s other books, “How to Blog for Profit without Selling Your Soul”. I bought that one when I started my blog and then joined Elite Blog Academy a year later.
If you’re feeling stuck and thinking you’ll never overcome fear, read this book. I think you’ll be inspired to Do It Scared.
