Love’s Red Heart is book 3 from the Future Movers series by Deryn Pittar. In my opinion, this is the best in the series, so far.
Jill Corban is visiting her brother and sister-in-law in Alice Springs and also spending time with her talented niece, Stella. Where she meets Dr Mike. There is an instant attraction between them. She has always felt uncomfortable about her chameleon genes. Will helping him, help her feel more relaxed in her own skin?
Dr Michael Scott has known James and Sarah since Stella was born and being talented himself, he agrees to be Stella’s personal physician, to help them stay under the radar. So he makes yearly trips to see them, check over Stella and then goes walk-about to continue his research. Meeting Jill and the attraction he has to her could turn into something more, but he has a promise to keep to his grandmother. Can he keep it?
I loved everything about Love’s Red Heart. Especially when Stella got to use her talents for good. I love the growing relationship between Jill and Michael and to see how happy James and Sarah are. This series is so easy to read. With each installment the series gets better. I can’t wait for A Stellar Affair to see where the Corban line takes us next.
“How many opportunities for love had he already missed because of his high an mighty opinion? If he let this dazzling creature go, he knew he’d never meet another like her.”
I am really enjoying this series! Each character genetically altered and possessing unique talents, each couple finding love and a connection that only they share, and each book a continuation of the Corban line.
Jill Corban has always seen her “talent” as a burden – an embarrassment. Of course, she has to keep it hidden for fear that the Defense Department will discover her and she’d be conscripted in to their services. Meeting Dr. Michael Scott has turned her world upside down. G-Altered himself, he isn’t put off by her color-changing skin. In fact, he seems drawn to it. But, despite their connection, they can never be together. A promise he made in the past, will keep them from ever having a future. With Defense Department agents close on their heels, will they be able to elude them? Will the combined talents of Jill, Michael, James and little Stella be enough to keep them all safe, and finally open the door to romantic possibilities for Jill and Michael?
Michael Scott has been Stella’s personal physician since she was born. Making the annual trek to Alice Springs to visit her and her parents, as well as to continue his research project among the aborigines, was supposed to be routine. Until he meets Jill. Instantly drawn to her, he must keep heart at a distance to stay true to a promise he made his grandmother. As each day passes, that becomes more and more difficult as they work together on his research project. As unfortunate events befall them, will he finally realize what he stands to lose? Will love win over duty in the end?
I really liked this story. There was humor, danger, love, anger, and just enough steam! I wasn’t a big fan of Michael’s in the beginning. I mean, really? I felt badly for Jill for never feeling accepting of herself and then when she finally lets her guard down, she’s crushed. But, as the story went on, I warmed up to Michael and how protective he was of her. I absolutely love Stella – she’s a sassy one for sure and I can’t wait for her story!
