I liked it but it was a romance disguised as a fantasy. which is ok but it was too predictable to really get lost in it.
.
I like the book but I won’t be reading the next one …
I liked the story so much Bought 2 and 3 !
It kept me glued to the pages. When I finished I went straight to the next book in the series.
This is a fantastic read. Mai Fairchild, and her sister ate living under the disguise of being human. She gets an offer to basically have a step up in the World. This is a fantastic read of the Supernatural and Magic. I also love the humor. This read grabbed me right away, and kept me on the edge wondering what was going to happen next. Its fast paced and action packed. This is definitely a must read.

OMGosh!!!! This book hooked me from page one until the end and I’m ready for more! With the secrets, the kiddo who is so like a true tween, the “what is this thing going on” and the sword play… It was a great story. Loved the characters as well as the story plot. Can’t wait until the next book to come out!! This is a truly must read book!!!
I’m giving a true and honest review of this book.
When I started reading this story, I couldn’t put it down. I read the book in one day. This author is an awesome writer. I cannot wait to read more of their books. Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
“I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.”
Though young MC she doesn’t come off as childish. The story Immediately draws you in with feeling and detail. There’s enough danger and feels to make me finish in one night! Though it does leave a few questions open, as if it was not done, and in a way that is true It’s a three book series. I can’t wait to go on!
The only downside was the book ended too soon, a little on the short side but still great!
I really enjoyed this story of a Japanese Fox Shifter and her sister. The magic was somewhat unusual and intriguing enough that I am looking forward to following these characters and finding out more about how it works and hearing more about Mia’s ghost mother.
Aimee Easterling is a writer who produces books that are consistently great in my opinion. Her Wolf’s Bane (Moon Marked Book 1) is a perfect example of why. Not only is the urban fantasy part perfectly crafted, and the story full of adventure and thrills, but the characters come across as genuine. Even stripped of all the fun stuff the story of Mia, elder sister dealing with her own pain as well as the guardianship over her younger sister Kira (appropriately pre-teen in how she deals with her own loss and issues) is recognizably real. That shows true craftsmanship in storytelling. When added to the exciting plot, the strong world-building and great cast of supporting characters the result, a truly enjoyable book, is virtually inevitable – and most definitely achieved. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Very good book. I like the way Mia can take care of herself and her sister. There is a lot going on. Exciting and also a mystery to solve. I don’t understand why she is afraid if someone knows she is a Fox. Maybe I will find out in the end. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
As always, Aimee Easterling reliably delivers fun shifter stories with exciting plots. This book was suspenseful and so much fun! It features one of my favorite paranormal creatures (one that doesn’t get very much attention) as well as Ms. Easterling’s delightful take on shifters. This is the first book in the new Moon Marked series, and I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series, but this book ends on a satisfying note, so don’t be afraid of cliffhangers.
This was a relatively quick read that started with a great hook and effortlessly captured and held my interest. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Mai struggled to protect her sister from an increasing number of threats while also trying to track down a serial killer.
I really liked the characters in this book. Mai makes some frustrating decisions at times, but you can understand why she acts the way she does. She’s under a lot of stress but remains quite likable. Her sister Kira is adorable, and I loved Gunner and his pack. I look forward to getting to know these characters better in subsequent books!
I volunteered to review an advanced reader copy of this book provided to me by the author. The version I read was neatly formatted, had no significant editing problems, and few typos that I can recall. If you like urban fantasy or paranormal mystery/suspense with a hint of romance, give this series a try.
Wolf’s Bane (Moon Marked Book 1)
Action packed book
What a fun and great read. Mia and Kira are fox shifters and has always been told by their mom to stay away from werewolves as they will kill them. Mia cage fights to keep food on the table as she has to take care of her 12 yr old sister Kira after their mother dies/disappeared. So in the next cage fight she come up against 2 werewolves (Gunner & Ransom are brothers) she is supposed to not win. So she doesn’t and they know she threw the fight. So that starts the I guess relationship between Gunner and Mia. So much more action happens in the book. Is there a serial killer on the loose? Who is behind the kidnapping of Kira? I guess we will find out in Book 2 SHADOW WOLF.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is an awesome start to a new series. Mai is a kitsune (magical fox shifter) who is taking care of her mischievous tween sister after the death of their parents. She struggles to support and protect her sister while staying off everyone’s radar. Why? Because her kind is hated and feared by all. Drawn in despite her reservations to a nefarious play that pushes her into more danger at every corner she struggles to keep her secrets and sister safe. Did I mention the dangerous wanna be neighborhood werewolf pack or the sudden appearance of the true Alpha of the area and his nosy aggressive brother? Can’t wait for the next installment
I have read most of Aimee’s series at this point. This one is a good start to a new series, but I did feel like there was some gaps in the story and the character development. For example, I never did understand why the wolves brought the heroine in to investigate in the first place. Maybe I missed a sentence? Hopefully, by the end of the series that will all be filled in. I did appreciate the female character not being a damsel in distress, and being conscious of her responsibilities.
Amazing start to a new series!!!
EASTERLING HIT SOLID GOLD AGAIN!!!
No surprises here. Easterling rolls another one right on out. Fast paced, action packed, nerve racking, nailbiting tale that just keeps it going. Smooth flowing with every nuance in perfect sync. Characters were extremely relatable with the personalities fitting the situations. Following the characters along fascinated as they grew throughout with all the charm, charisma, witt and intellect that pulls you into the world Easterling has weaved around you so realistic and believable until everything else ceases to exist except for whats right in front of your eyes. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. I was hooked from the first paragraph until the very last word. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next time. Phenomenal job Easterling, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.
Here we are at another series by an author I really enjoy reading. Yes, as always, I was hesitant to read this because I’m always, always afraid a new series won’t hold up to the other series. Yet again, I was proven to be worried needlessly. This book was great! Ms. Easterling’s great writing was showcased perfectly, her great way with characters on full display, and I enjoyed every minute of this book. Mai was a very interesting protagonist, and I can’t wait to find out more about her, her sister Kira, and Gunner. The book was action-packed fun, and if you enjoy this author’s book, this one will not be an exception. If you enjoy urban fantasy with great action, I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
