Spencer Graham had been trying to get a hold of Jason Crosby for weeks, but he didn’t seem to answer emails, mail or the telephone. She had an idea that would make them a great deal of money, but she needed him to invest in her project before it was too late. So, barging into his home at 4 a. m. was the only solution as far as she was concerned. She didn’t, however, expect him to answer the door … door naked and proposition her as soon as she walked in the door. Spencer did the only thing that came natural to her, she knocked him on his ass….
Jason Crosby was nearly two thousand years old, and in all his days as a vampire, he’d never seen anyone quite like her, not that he thought that was a good thing. He didn’t. She was his mate, and he was only going the tolerate her because he had to….

‘Jason’ is Kathi S. Barton’s first book in her “Sons of Crosby” series and what a delight this one has turned out to be. It started off with Spencer Graham just needing to talk to Jason Crosby about helping her finance a building the city was putting up for auction. She’d tried calling. She tried sending e-mails. The man just plain wouldn’t answer her and time was running out. That’s when she showed up at his house at 4 A.M. knowing one way or another she’d have his undivided attention. Well, he got hers when he answered the door in his birthday suit and a snarky attitude. Spencer wasn’t having it and after one insult too many, she decked him and he landed on his backside; not from her strength but from catching him off-guard. Intrigued? Yeah, you should be. Two strong characters, both opinionated, a loving family on one side, a blight on society from the other, faeries and their Queen, oh and did I mention our Hero and his family are Vampires? This was a terrific story. I can’t wait to see what happens when Chase finds his mate.
Loved it
Great start to a new series. Crosby is a born vampire. A widower with six sons. All gifted with the ability to walk in the sun. All Crosby wishes to do is join his mate. Jason is the oldest. He is a srude businesses, and jaded by life. When his mate literally knocks on his front door, he is not happy. He will claim her, but doesn’t want her.
Spencer Jewell Graham, has a great idea for a business, she just needs a financial backer. Jason Crosby has pushed off her requests for a meeting. When she is out of time she ambushes him at his home.
Jason is a jerk. Jewell is kind hearted, but no push over. It takes a lot to bring these two together.
A fun, fast paced and steamy read. Can’t wait for Chase and Emerald’s story.
Oh what an awesome start to what I am sure is going to be an AMAZING series!
Crosby and his six sons are vampires who have been granted the ability to walk in the daylight. After living for more than two thousand years with just himself and family, Jason has no need or want to find a mate. After living for years watching and listening to his father whine about wanting to die to be with his mate, he hopes to never find her.
Spencer Graham is a woman who just wants to fulfill her ideas and make the planet a better place. She has many great ideas, but needs the funding and help from Jason Crosby. When she is finally able to get a minute of his time she realizes his arrogant ways are more than likely to make her want to kill him if she works with him. From the day she was born she’s never had it easy. But she doesn’t let anything stop her or turn her into a bitter woman.
These two have so much to overcome. Jason has lived and watched what losing a mate has done to his father’s will to live. But what he doesn’t notice is that she’s not only his mate, but she’s his father’s salvation. The more you dive into Spencer’s history the more I’m amazed that she turned out to be as loving and generous of a woman as she was.
