Chase Crosby didn’t know what he wanted right now. He was trying to get a grip on who his new mate was. He was told she was an ice dragon, but that wasn’t right either, she was a protector of the ice dragons. He had so many questions, and all he could do was sit there while she was locked away in his freezer to recover from her injuries.Emerald was a warrior, and she had no idea what she was … she was going to do with a mate. Even though the vampire appealed to her, she was worried the people chasing her would hurt him or his family to get to her, and she couldn’t allow that.
A Homeland Security Agent had gone rogue and he was after Emerald. He didn’t know exactly who or what she was, but he was going to prove she’d been around for centuries, and it didn’t matter who he had to go through to get to her.

‘Chase’ is Kathi S. Barton’s second book in her “Sons of Crosby” series and I have to admit, it was a fun one for me to read! Chase is so easy going with a heart of gold. As a matter of fact, Killian, the Queen of the Faeries considers him her favorite even though she loves all the Crosby men. And then there’s Emerald, an ice warrior and dragon protector. When she passes out from injuries she’s received the faeries inform Chase he needs to put her in the freezer to heal. Yes, you read that right. As soon as he picks her up, he knows she’s his mate. This book has so many twists and turns but there’s a humor to this one that I so enjoyed. Emerald is being chased by a rogue Homeland Security Agent and has been for years all because he saw her in a photo from centuries ago. Now he’s determined to find out who gave her the formula to live forever so he can not only take it himself but become famous from the glory of his discovery. We have dragons and their King and Queen, faeries and their Queen Killian, brownies, wolf shifters, and of course vampires in this story. This one just made me want more from the series to see what is in store for the rest of the brothers.
Loved it
Chase is easy going with a big heart. Emerald is a warrior, a dragon protector. A decree made long ago has come to light, masking Emerald and Chase the queen and long of dragons.
Homeland Security is still tracking Emerald. When an agent comes to town with his pregnant wife, Emerald and Chase decide to confront him.
they are supposed to take a liking to Jamie and his attorney wife Kristy, so much so that they hire them both.
Jamie’s boss isn’t giving up and comes to town to do what his subordinate failed to do.
A fun, fast paced and steamy story.
At the end of Jason’s book, we learned that Chase had just found his mate, but she’s not someone he would thought would exist. Emerald was running from some persistent people who would do just about anything to get their hands on her.
**”I want to tell the world that I have found not just love, but everything that goes with it. Happiness, joy, companionship, and so much more that I’m sure there are no names for.”** — Chase
In order for Chase to keep Emerald he must first prove to her that although she may be an ice dragon warrior he is a vampire who would protect those he loves with everything he had. Even if the people chasing after his mate were the government themselves.
**”In this moment, Emerald took him to her heart, where he would remain forever. She was his, he was hers.”** — Emerald
My only complaints about this story, I wish the author would’ve given us a brief explanation of how Emerald’s picture came across Bates desk and why he became so obsessed with her.
Chase was reading about the woman in his freezer. A better start of the book couldn’t be there. It pulled my right back in to the story. Who can forget the woman that was put in the freezer not me! So much magic and fantasy. It makes my heart sing!
The people that really stole my heart in this story are Jamie and Kristie. What a great people and characters. I Really got nothing bad to say about this book. I can honestly say it fascinated me and kept me reading. There is no dull moment in this book. So read it and enjoy it as much as I did!
I volunteered to review this story for my honest opinion
