Edinburgh, 1844. Beautiful Aileana Kameron only looks the part of an aristocratic young lady. In fact, she’s spent the year since her mother died developing her ability to sense the presence of Sithichean, a faery race bent on slaughtering humans. She has a secret mission: to destroy the faery who murdered her mother. But when she learns she’s a Falconer, the last in a line of female warriors and … and the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity, her quest for revenge gets a whole lot more complicated. The first volume of a trilogy from an exciting new voice in young adult fantasy, this electrifying thriller blends romance and action with steampunk technology and Scottish lore in a deliciously addictive read.

I just finished reading “The Falconer” by Elizabeth May. I am sitting here more than a little stunned by the ending of the novel. To start with, it took me a while to really become enveloped within the story. It was a slow start but it ramped up so fast. The last third of the novel was packed with action and intrigue. I am still in shock of …
Maybe I should read more gaslamp fantasy. But I tore through this entire trilogy in three days (without calling in sick), and I’m just a little afraid that anything else will be a disappointment.
I’ll admit, I bought this book because the blurb reminded me of A Court of Thorns and Roses, one of my favorite fantasy series. I figured it would be a quick, fun, and fairly predictable fae fantasy, and while parts of it were certainly that, this book also ended up surprising me many times over – I loved the narrator with her need for both …
I loved the entire series
This book is such a good mash up of historical, steampunk, and fantasy. And I cannot believe nobody ever shoved this book in my face and was like hey this book has a broody fae with a dark past and secrets, because it does and that is a thing I very much enjoy. This was a great blend of genres and I thought Aileana was great. I also adored Derrick …
I enjoyed this a lot. It wasn’t at all what I expected as the cover made me think it would be straight up fantasy. As it turns out, it’s steampunk. The characters were fun and the story idea interesting. I deducted the star because the book ends on a cliffhanger and that annoys me. I feel a story should have some type of resolution even if it is …
This was a reread for me and it was much needed. I read the book way back in 2014 when it first came out. In 5 years I forgot a lot! So I am very happy that I decided to read it again.
I know that the title Falconer has thrown off many people. So I am going to put it here sorry if you feel spoiled however most people miss this brief explanation. …
I read the entire trilogy. All 3 books were entaining with interesting. The only downside was a very predictable ending to the trilogy. But, all 3 are good reads.
Good read. This book was a real page turner. It was so good that I started reading the second book in the series.
I have read many books on the Fae. This is not your ordinary fairy tale. I recommend you have all all three books ready before you start reading, because you aren’t going to want to wait for the next one.
There’s a lot of things about this book that are good, but there’s a lot more things that irk me.
Let’s start with the good, shall we?
I love Ailena. She was badass, unapologetic, and vicious. I love her back story, the rage that consumes her for her mother’s death, the crave of death & vengeance. I feel she made a very powerful main character. …
Awesome
This was a book that just did not appeal to me. I bought the three book set and could not get through the first one. It might appeal more to others.
Probably won’t pursue the rest of the series, but it was a quick and entertaining enough read with some interesting characters.
I loved this book; so action-packed and a page turner! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves adventure/action books.
Strong female protagonist, male heros, love triangle, and a cliffhanger ending. What’s not to like?
Can’t wait to find out what happens next!
