Can I just start off by saying that this book was everything and more than what I was expecting!
I absolutely loved the Just Friends series and when I found out we were getting more of Amanda and Tuttle, I was practically jumping for joy.
Now we get the grown up version of these two in You Promised Me Forever and boy oh boy did I absolutely enjoy this book to the fullest.
Amanda felt neglected and left out once Jordan started to get very popular in college and he had bigger and more demands when it came to football, so it’s not that he wanted to neglect or push her aside, but he had to think about school and his career. He didn’t think he was neglecting her, he actually thought everything was great between them, until Amanda decided to break up with him.
As the years have passed, and now Jordan is a professional football player and a player (in all sense of the word), or at least that’s what the media portrays him to be, when he is interviewed and was asked about “the one that got away” Amanda decides to look him up in social media and instantly friends him on Instagram, she sends him a message not thinking he’ll respond back, but boy did he respond back quickly.
From that point on, it seemed like they got back on track. He contacted her and they started talking again. For as much as he wanted to hurt Amanda for hurting him when she left him, he just couldn’t. He knew deep down that he still had feelings for her and he wanted to see where it would lead this time around, if Amanda would actually give him the time of day and let him prove to her that he was in it forever.
The love they had was impossible to let go of, they never stopped loving each other even though they both tried moving on with their lives, but sometimes love is much stronger and no matter what the past holds, there is always room to forgive and forget and that’s exactly what Jordan and Amanda did.
I loved how they came in contact with each other again and how easily they picked up where they left off.
I absolutely love this couple, I think they are my favorite couple of the year!
4.5 Stars!
Sometimes all we need to correct a wrong or heal old wounds, is to reach out. You Promised Me Forever is a perfect example of how it’s done; this beautifully written love story takes us on a journey of forgiveness that ends in an emotional HEA. This book’s main characters were featured in an earlier Friend series, when they were in high school, and this is their story. Told in dual POV, we get a glimpse of their past and the reasons they broke up, only toreconnect six years later.
Amanda ‘Mandy’ Winters felt she had to break up with her best friend/boyfriend, Jordan, when he went off to college. Jordan was a big man on campus, playing football and living the single college dream, while she was stuck at home, going to community college. He was too busy for her, she felt she was left by the wayside, as an afterthought. It’s been six years since then, and she still misses Jordan. They were each other’s firsts.
“There’s a lot of history between Jordan and me. History that I can look back on with a sort of nostalgic fondness.”
She’s working as a Physical Therapist and has dated but never gotten seriously involved with anyone. When Amanda sees Jordan on a TV interview, talking about the one who got away, she wonders if he’s talking about her. When she decides to reach out to him, via Instagram, Jordan contacts her almost immediately.
Jordan Tuttle is living his dream, as an NFL star quarterback, but six years later he’s still nursing a broken heart. When Amanda sent him a text message ending their relationship, soon after he went away to college, he was hurt, brokenhearted and angry. Years later, he can admit she might have had good reasons for breaking up.
“I realized I’m just as much to blame for the breakup as she is. She gave up on me. I gave up on her too. And that’s hard to admit.”
After she gets in touch with him, Jordan’s tempted to see her again; to rub her nose in everything he has, so Mandy can see what she could have had with him. Until Jordan sees her in person and remembers everything he loved about her. He wants to make sure Mandy won’t get away this time, but he’s still a little gun-shy.
“I won’t make the first move.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You. Me. I refuse to make the first move. I’ve done that time and again over the years, and you still ended up destroying me.”
Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith and make the first move. All it takes is that first step for wonderful things to follow!
“What exactly do you want?”
“Whatever you’re willing to give me.”
“Damn. She keeps this up and I’ll give her the whole damn world. Anything she wants. Everything I have. Will be hers.”
There are some amazing secondary characters that I hope we’ll read more about later; this is the first book in the new Forever Yours series. Yaaaaay, so happy!
You Promised Me Forever is one of the best second-chance romances that I’ve ever read. Monica Murphy captures all of the tumultuous, exhilarating and sometimes overwhelming feelings of two people who once loved each other desperately reuniting and trying again. My eyes were glued to the page, my heart was beating loudly, and I was near-giddy with anticipation from the moment Jordan and Amanda exchanged their first direct messages after six years without communicating. I felt absolutely everything along the way and loved every minute of this engrossing, feel-good, steamy and thoroughly satisfying tale of second chances. Romance doesn’t get any more romantic than You Promised Me Forever.

ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
I loved Amanda and Tuttle in Monica Murphy’s friends series. They were one of those couples I was rooting for to go the long haul. Fast forward six years and oh boy, a lot can change in all that time. They are off pursuing their dreams, separately. Amanda or Mandy is in the physical therapy field, and Tuttle is the starting quarterback for the best team in the NFL. So they are both on the paths they always dreamed of, but something is missing in each of their lives. They both still think of one another and when Tuttle gives an interview about the one that got away and Amanda reaches out. They are suddenly face to face after six long years.
When they meet up it’s like nothing has changed, yet everything has. They are both older and wiser and so many years have gone by. I swear the chemistry and the sparks were there as soon as they looked at each other. So yeah, obviously the attraction is there but after all these years could it still be something more?
I loved Amanda and Tuttle when they were Amanda and Tuttle six years ago and I love them now. Yes, I wanted to shake them at times and tell Amanda to wake the hell up but I was totally rooting for them still. Tuttle is a charmer and so sweet. He knows what he wants and lets no obstacle deter him. Amanda knows she made a mistake but can she get past that? If you are in the mood for a great second chance love story you should definitely pick this one up!
Jordan and Amanda were high school sweethearts who promised each other forever. Life doesn’t always keep a couple happy and together, sometimes our own insecurities keep us from those we love. Six years later Jordan is the QB for an NFL team and Amanda has her job as a physical therapist and are single. Fate has a way of bringing together soulmates until they get it right.
I adored how Jordan worked his butt off to get Amanda to fall in love all over again.

You Promised Me Forever is a sweet second chance sports romance that makes you believe there’s always the right time for everything. It’s a quick and light hearted read that is easy to read in one sitting.
Amanda and Jordan were high school sweethearts but when Jordan’s fame started to rise as the star quarterback in college, the pressure just became too much. Years later, during an interview with the NFL, Amanda is left to believe that Jordan may be missing her so she reaches out to him on social media. From that moment on, Amanda and Jordan are relearning not only how to become friends again but discovering how deep their feelings still run.
Sprinkle in a bit of jealously and some crazy media moments that are common with celebrities, Murphy delivers a light and sweet romance.
However, I will admit that while I thought You Promised Me Forever was sweet, I just wasn’t that invested. I didn’t really care one way or the other about either Amanda or Jordan. That sounds harsh. I cared, I just wasn’t invested to where no matter what happened with them, I would have really felt connected. I think I just wanted more character development but that’s a personal preference.
If you like sports and second chance romances that is a quick and easy read then I suggest you give this a try. I think a lot of people will like it, especially as a palette cleanser.
You Promised me Forever is the first book in the Forever Yours series. If you happened to read Monica’s Friends series then you have already met this couple. This is Amanda and Tuttle’s continued story.
Six years. It’s been six years since Amanda broke Jordan’s heart. Over text. They both promised forever but after he went off to college, it got to be too much. He was already becoming a star on the football field and didn’t have time for her. Them. It was now six years later when they reconnect via social media. Are the feelings still there?
Jordan let her go once and he wasn’t planning on letting her ago again if she made the first move. But, will past insecurities, and the more intense fame make history repeat itself?
I loved this story! I have been with this couple since the beginning and so happy that Monica gave us them as adults. It’s brilliant. Beautiful. Sexy. And I can’t wait for what is up next in this series.
Quotes:
“What exactly do you want?” I ask her, my question like a dare.
“Whatever you’re willing to give me,” she answers, her voice soft.
“All relationships have problems, Jordan. We’re not an exception. And we’re definitely not perfect,” I point out.
“Don’t go caveman on me, Tuttle.”
He laughs. “Busting out the last name, huh? Figures.”
You Promised Me Forever by Monica Murphy is a second chance romance. It can be read as a standalone but Amanda and Jordan are characters from the Friends Series. At nineteen Amanda broke Jordan’s heart. Six years later he is a famous NFL quarterback. Despite his successful career, he can’t stop thinking about “the one that got away”. When Amanda contacts him it is game on! Reading this book was like visiting with two old friends. These two are fantastic together. I love a good second chance romance and this book did not disappoint. This is a sweet and lighthearted story that will give you all the feels. I couldn’t put this one down!
This book is really sweet, sexy and very, very refreshing.
You promised Me forever isn’t my first alone time with Monica’s and her work. I’ve read her books a little time ago but I still can say that she’s great aurhor! I’VE read this story in one setting.
In You Promised me Forever we meet Mandi and Jordan. Their story melt my heart, they are soo perfectly together.
I love romances where lovers have common past and meet as adult people. I like in this book also chemistry between Mandy and Jordan. They have history to talk about but I’m giving HUGE PLUS for Monica because she didn’t give them a lot of heartbreaking drama in the background. BUT Their story wasn’t simple, don’t be fulled with my words now.
Mandi is adorable, she is this kind of character which You like immediattely. I love everything what Monica “gave her”, but sometimes I couldn’t understand her hestiant decision/behavior.
Jared is #DreamTeamBoyfriend… of course I love to read about bastards but even Jared isn’t one if them he’s REAL MAN !!! He’s soft inside like puppy but for sure he can slide underwear with one look from his eyes. He doesn’t affraid take what he want.
Monika has done very good job with You Promised me Forever. Now I want come back to every her book which I read in the past…. coming back to her, feeling like being back in home… AGAIN.
4.5 awesome stars!! This was a very beautiful and fun story. It was raw, heartbreaking and real. Jordan and Amanda’s story is one of love, growth and a deeper understanding. I was hooked from the very first page and was just a little sad that it had to come to an end.
This is one of the best second chance books I’ve ever read! Amanda thought she was over-way over-her high school boyfriend Jordan…until she catches an interview of him on tv. And she starts following him on Instagram. And he follows her back. But all the reasons Amanda broke up with him all those years ago are still relevant, even more so now that Jordan is playing for the NFL. Ah the angst! The drama. Absolutely loved this book!
Omg!!! So it’s been a while since I’ve read a Monica Murphy book, ever since Second Chance boyfriend.
I completely loved You Promised Me Forever!! I didn’t know it was kind of like a sequel to her Friends series. Jordan and Amanda have their own story in that series and this one takes place 6 years after the end of the series.
This was the best type of second chance romance. NFL superstar and the one that got away? Yes please!! This book gave me oh so many feels!!! You could feel the love still between Jordan and Amanda. They did have a few problems and insecurities they had to cover come. But the entire time, you are rooting for them!!
Even those this is a sequel of sorts of the Friends series, you don’t need to read it to enjoy this story. I haven’t had the chance to read that series, but now, it’s defiantly moved up on my TBR.
5 must read stars!!
Ever since I read the FRIENDS series, I fell in love with Amanda and Jordan’s story. We got to know them as teenagers and we all loved their story, but it was not the end of them, the author didn’t finish with them, and now in YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER, we get to know them as adults.
Amanda ends their relationship in college, six years has passed since then and now they have a chance to be together again. Jordan is now a NFL star, a famous one and Amanda did break his heart back in college, he never could move on, she was the one who got away.
Amanda is now an assistant physical therapist. She works in a place that specializes in sports medicine. Somehow she wanted to be close to Jordan, there is not a day that goes by that Amanda doesn’t regret to breaking up with Jordan. She thinks it was an immature decision and definitely a mistake. She’s never forget him after all these years.
This is a “second chance” romance. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was the perfect closure for an amazing couple. They knew since they were little kids, that they belonged together, and it wasn’t fair that they were apart. It wasn’t easy for them, both are hurt and they need to be honest about their feelings in order to find their happiness.
You Promised Me Forever is a sweet second chance love story. Even though Jordan and Amanda met when they were young and became high school sweethearts it took six years of separation for them to find the love and passion that they always had for each other was still present and strong as ever.
And I’m all in for Amanda and Tuttle!! I just can’t get enough of them! #cuddlewithTuttle
At first I was scared to start reading You Promised Me Forever because I’ve been so in love with Amanda and Tuttle (Jordan) in “More Than Friends” and “Forever” that I wasn’t sure if they would still hold my heart in this book, but as soon as I started I couldn’t put it down. Amanda and Jordan stole my heart immediately. Their story as adults is just heartbreakingly beautiful as their love story as teenagers. I loved every second of it.
You Promised Me Forever can definitely be read as a standalone but I’d still recommend you read “More Than Friends” and “Forever” before that – it just gets better if you already know them. And I loved how I could still recognize Amanda and Jordan from their younger days but also got to know the new, adult versions of them. It was so sweet and lovely to read about their feelings and their actions. Both afraid to get hurt again after their “break-up” and repeat their mistakes from their past, yet still so in love with each other.
You Promised Me Forever is a beautifully written love story and it made me fall in love with Monica Murphy’s writing all over again. Amanda and Jordan will forever be in my heart!Full I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
You have to fall in love with Tuttle, there is no other way. It is great to see how these characters have evolved. Jordan is a complete grown up and he knows there is no need to waste more time. Amanda is full of doubt and insecurities but there is no passing an opportunity for a second chance when the pull towards each other is so strong. You will like everything about Tuttle! His determination, passion, attention to detail, his intensity. You will envy Amanda and would want to be in her place. I loved everything about this story, specially how he communicates his feelings without a need to hold anything back. After loosing her for years, he treats her like the center of his universe and makes sure to right away show her how important she is to him. More than anything, he shows her how serious he is about having her forever. I really like that I got to read their story as grownups and that it wasn’t perfect since the previous book. It felt very realistic and charming to read how they learned from their mistakes and how they reconnected. This story is completely swoon worthy!
“She promised me forever until forever got too hard and at nineteen, she dumped me. By text.”
You Promised Me Forever (Forever Yours) is a spinoff/sequel from the “Friends” series. It features Amanda Winters and Jordan Tuttle. The Friends series is filled with so much YA/teen/high school drama. And Monica Murphy nailed the whole high school drama thing on the head!
You Promised Me Forever brings us into the adult world, six years later. Life became busy as Amanda and Jordan became adults. Choices were made and consequences followed.
“He was totally my first.” Not my last, though. He promised me forever and that didn’t happen.
I really enjoyed Amanda and Jordan’s “grown up” story. It was fast paced, right down to business. Although it is not necessary to read the previous Friends series, it would definitely define the characters and give you the bigger picture.
I loved how true the characters stayed. Although they are adults, their insecurities are still there. They still have that connection and chemistry. And I must mention that the adult versions of them are HOT & STEAMY!!! There was no fast pacing the sexy times! **fanning self**
“She’s my Mandy, all grown up. But not my Mandy anymore.”
Thank you Monica Murphy for giving us this grown up version! Really a fun read. I would love to see more of the high school gang as “grown-ups”! And, (hint hint) maybe a box set of the Friends series so everyone can get to know the crew!

A love in transition equals a heartbreak on the horizon. Can Jordan and Amanda forgive the mistakes of their young love and take a chance on building something new? Nobody does the angst of teen aged love like Monica Murphy. You Promised Me Forever takes a detour on the highway of regret and pain before it reaches the ramp of goodbye. It’s hard to appreciate what you have until you lose what you always wanted. A life lesson hard earned, but that we’re so much better for. What started with a sweetness ends with drama. A bond severed by neglect. Can the damage be repaired by a little time and distance. From lovers to friends then back again. Murphy puts her heart in this tale of second chances.
YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER is the first instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, adult FOREVER YOURS erotic, romance series- a spin off from the author’s FRIENDS series. This is twenty –five year old, NFL star quarterback Jordan Tuttle, and PT assistant Amanda Winters’ story line. We were first introduced to Amanda and Jordan, high school sweethearts, in Monica Murphy’s young adult series FRIENDS. YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER fast -forwards the couple’s story approximately six years. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s One Week Girlfriend series with the mention of Drew Callahan. You do not have to have read the FRIENDS series to follow, but for back story and cohesion I recommend checking it out.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Amanda and Jordan) YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER focuses on the rekindling romance between twenty –five year old, NFL star quarterback Jordan Tuttle, and PT assistant Amanda Winters. Six years earlier Amanda Winters broke Jordan Tuttle’s heart by walking away without explanation or cause-a break up text that left our couple destroyed and floundering for years to come. Jordan’s college football life gave way to loneliness for Amanda, loneliness that pushed Amanda out of his life. Fast forward to present day wherein Jordan Tuttle is now an all-star quarterback in the NFL, and Amanda Winters works as a physio-therapist’s assistant. A recent television interview with Jordan revealed that he too, hadn’t stopped thinking about the ‘girl’ that got away, so our heroine decides to reconnect with the man that she still loves. What ensues is the rebuilding romance between Jordan and Amanda, and the potential fall-out as Amanda struggles with Jordan’s fame and the paparazzi nightmare.
Amanda Winters hasn’t stopped loving Jordan Tuttle but destroying his heart meant humiliation and potential grovelling for a second chance. Jordan knows that Amanda is the woman for his happily ever after but proving she is worthy takes a special kind of overture for his ‘pretty woman’.
The relationship between Jordan and Amanda is one of second chances with limited conflict or accusations; an emotional reunion fraught with sexual tension, and years of pent up pain and anger for our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters include Amanda’s co-workers Cade and Lena whose friendship with Amanda falters in the face of Jordan’s return; Jordan’s best friend and fellow football player Cannon Whittaker; and Lady Susanna Sumner. I am hoping for a story line between Cannon and Susanna.
YOU PROMISED ME FOREVER is a story of friendship and love; second chances and romance; forever and a happily ever after. The premise is spicy and sweet; the romance is sexy and sassy; the characters are animated and enchanting
