I’ve always hated her. She’s always hated me. We’ve never been friends, just the best of enemies…I’ve hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next door neighbor and number one sworn enemy, she’s the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)She snitched on me when I broke curfew.I snitched on her when she lied … versa.)
She snitched on me when I broke curfew.I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend. We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.
But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until living with her day after day became unbearable, and one passionate argument changed everything.
Well, almost everything.
I’ve always hated her.
She’s always hated me.
I’m not sure what the hell is happening, and I can’t tell if we’re still “enemies”…

** spoiler alert ** Rachel and Ethan have known each other since they were seven. Rachel and Ethan have hated each other since they were seven. Rachel and Ethan have loved each other since they were seven. You get the drift. Frenemies-to-lovers and back again and back…again. They were absolutely awful to each other as children until they weren’t. Their bedroom windows faced each other so she would rat him out for sneaking out to meet girls and he would do the same for sneaking guys in. He saw her dancing around in her prom dress before prom so excited but when her date had played a trick on her and actually had no intention of going with her, “someone” set of the fire alarms, causing the prom to get flooded and rescheduled so Rachel was able to go to the new date by herself. He even took her a silk corsage so she would have one when he told her. They had a standing agreement to bring donuts and coffee to share on their way to school as he drove them and he refused to share with his girlfriends because they were for Rachel and he did not see the issue with that. His girlfriends did, I do. It appears he has unrecognized feelings for her doesn’t it. Hmm. Rachel’s mother always bought her flowers and took her to her favorite restaurant once a month. Rachel’s mother died and that day came up and Rachel was heartbroken. Who shows up at the door with flowers and takes her to her restaurant? Ethan. They have written letters to each other almost the entire time they have known each other. The last year of high school for Rachel, several boys in high school decide to try and sleep with her and talk about it around school. Ethan gets wind of it and goes around threatening the guys to either break off their dates with her or else. Rachel is upset that she keeps getting stood up and keeps talking to Ethan about it. He is her best friend. Its so sad and you can just see the train wreck coming. On one of the last dates, the guy actually showed up to the restaurant so Ethan threatens him in the bathroom. Rachel was in the men’s room because the ladies room was too crowded and heard the whole thing. She doesn’t stick around and let him explain that he was protecting her from guys who just wanted to take advantage of her. She storms out of there and decides to attend college off campus in the semester at sea program but signs up for the 3 year program instead of the semester program and is miserable. Ethan doesn’t see her on campus and asks about her from her parents and gets her port schedule and spends the next three years sending her letters and care packages of her favorite books. When she gets off the ship after 3 years and goes to her apartment, it has been rented to another roommate, which was a blessing in disguise. The ad she responds to for a room to rent ends up being for Ethan’s house. She and Ethan end up falling for each other fairly quickly, which is no surprise since they have been in love most of their life and romancing each other via letters for years. Ethan has been double majoring in creative writing and business and is given the opportunity to do an accelerated MBA in NY but he will have to graduate in December and will be in school most of the day 6 days a week, giving him little to no time to visit Rachel. Rachel has discovered that the semester at sea program was changed after she joined, leaving her potentially a year and a half behind in school unless she goes back on the boat for the semester at sea program in the Spring and stays for the Summer term. She already has offers for graduate school and a late graduation could hurt those offers. Rachel and Ethan do what they do best about the situation, they fight. Rachel gets hotheaded and packs her stuff up and goes off to sea without telling Ethan while he spends a few miserable weeks in NY before deciding to withdraw. He heads back to Rachel only to find her room empty. In port in Alaska, Rachel reads a letter from her Mother telling her that she only wanted her Father to mourn for a year and then she wanted him to get on with his life and gave him a list of women to start dating, one of which was the woman that is now her Stepmother. The letter also talks about how her mother also knows Rachel and Ethan were meant for each other and by now, probably know that. Rachel meets with her Father and Stepmother and makes amends, and Ethan finds her as she is heading back to the boat. She doesn’t have much time so he says he will see her at the next port. On the boat she hears a knock on the door and it’s Ethan at her door and she finds out he has signed on to be an instructor while he pursues his dream of being an author and works on his romance novel called Forget You, Rachel.
This was a great book. They were the screaming kids next door who were the epitome of “he is mean to you because he likes you.” They were so naive. They were best friends. Absolute frenemies. They went to each other for just about everything, and all of their justifications of why they did things for each other seemed completely reasonable. It’s just Rachel. That’s Rachels. Ethan absolutely didn’t recognize his feelings for her even when he was refusing his girlfriend a donut or neglecting to buy her a donut because he only did that for Rachel. Setting off the sprinklers so she could go to prom without being embarrassed and buying her a corsage was so sweet. I actually embarrassed myself and said “Awe!” out loud in public. and if anything proves that Forget You, Ethan actually means I Love You, Ethan and that they put time into that friendship, take a look back at those cups that are strung up between the two windows so they can talk to each other, the white boards big enough to read the writing between the windows, and Ethan making sure she can see and hear the TV after he got her grounded from watching hers.
Forget You, Ethan is an enemies to lovers story form one of my favorites, Whiney G. Told from dual POV with letters filling in gaps, I was instantly intrigued from the blurb and excited to start.
Overall, it was a fun and easy read. At times it slowed for me, but I read the whole book in a sitting unable to put it down. Whitney G. is always witty and exciting and once again her writing style pulled me in and even though the parts that slowed a bit for me, I couldn’t put it down.
If you are looking for an easy beach read then this is one for you to pick up! I do look forward to seeing if there will be more books in this series.

Just the book I needed right now. Forget You, Ethan was funny, sweet and emotional book.
Rachel and Ethan were both such funny, hotheaded and sexy characters. I loved the sexual tension between them, and their banter. Their friendship, or rather enmity, was so sweet and funny to read. I loved how they hated each other, yet were still some sort of best friends and always there for each other. Their connection was just special.
This story was really dear to my heart, I could really connect with Rachel and Ethan and what they were going through. It’s just a perfect friends/enemies to lovers romance.
Gosh! We’ve waited FOREVER for this book! Was the waiting worth? I don’t know if my answer is unbiased, it happens I love Whitney writing, once I start reading any of her books, I end up loving them all. That is why I always one clicked all her books without hesitation.
FORGET YOU, ETHAN is an enemies to lovers story (one of my fave tropes). The book got me smiling from the very first page. Ethan and Rachel’s relationship is not conventional, they call themselves enemies since they’ve met, but there is more than that (you’ll understand when you read it). We get both POV’s and I love the way Whitney mixes the present with the past in order to understand how their friendship (or “bickering”) developed.
I had been utterly intrigued with Ethan Wyatt’s story ever since meeting him in SINCERELY, CARTER. I’m glad we get to know him well, he is a very kind guy and very smart, he was meant for Rachel, there is no doubt now. I really don’t want to give too many details about the plot because I don’t want to spoil the story. The author wrote a witty story with a lot of funny banter, which makes an engaging story that is hard to put it down. I wish it would have been a little bit longer, but that’s purely because I need more of them!! If you’re a reader that loves a quick and enjoyable story that will make you laugh, then this book is for you.
Can’t wait to read FORGET YOU, RACHEL (the epilogue)! Please Whitney, don’t make us wait too long!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I know I would because the blurb really drew me in, I just expect how much I loved Ethan. Yes he could be a jerk but deep down he was such a sweetheart. There wasn’t a lot of push and pull, but it kinda had that slow burn feel that I love. They had to work for their HEA and it was well worth it. The banter was great, the flash backs were fun and enlightening, but above all…… it was a unique story with a unique friendship. I really enjoyed it. 4 stars #2OCCJD
This book left me floating… I just wish I found the link to the epilogue Forget You Rachel…
I love Whitney G! Her stories are like crack romantic saps like me are addicted to… this is probably my 3rd or 4th ARC from her and I’m just so honored and happy.
This is an awesome example of an enemies-to-lovers story… There’s so much anticipation and you just can’t help but get so anxious and excited for the characters…
We all know how this will turn out in the end, but the journey to getting there was very worth the time. There’s also a dash of drama and a spoonful of comedy!
I love it! And I cant wait to read more of the Author’s upcoming books.
If you want to read something very swoony, with stubborn lead characters, then this is the book to pick up next!
I enjoyed the back and forth between these two,but somehow I didn’t feel that they had any chemistry between them.
I liked reading about how their ‘friendship’ started from when they were 7years old. I loved both these characters. Rachel was funny in a weird way, it’s
like she was delusional in thinking she had friends and Ethan kept on reminding her she didn’t.
And Ethan was seriously a jerk most of the time, but even though he was he always seemed to have her back when she needed it
An enjoyable, entertaining and definitely frustrating read…
Whitney is one of my all time favorite authors. The first book I ever read of Whitney’s was Turbulence and I feel in love with her writing. I have yet to read a book by Whitney that I didn’t love or thoroughly enjoyed. I absolutely adored Ethan and Rachel’s story.
I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. It’s fun and romantic. Rachel has some childish antics and has a lot of growing up to do. I loved Ethan. I really loved them together. Their witty banter is fun, and I loved the way the story flowed, the angst, and how it came together. I also really enjoyed the flashbacks and seeing how Rachel and Ethan’s relationship grew, even if they didn’t want to see it. I laughed and smiled and enjoyed their journey.
“Did you keep a copy of my list?” “I didn’t have to,” he said. “I’ve always remembered it.” “Well, why did you tell me all the things I wanted were unrealistic?” “Because they are.” “With anyone else who isn’t me.”
So freaking cute!
I haven’t read many Whitney G books but when i do geez does she win me over with her stories Sincerley Carter is one of my all time favorite books and Forget You, Ethan is right up there with it.
I’m not sure if it’s my emotions or I’m hormonal but god this book made me have all the feels and then some, i have never met two characters who taught with each other but had this connection that was so strong they fought against that but really at the end of the day they were the most loneliest people i have ever read and it really upset me lol.
Rachel just wanted friends she wanted to be liked and my heart absolutely broke for her. Her character was so engaging and i couldn’t understand how she tried so hard to get friends or tried to date and no one wanted to show her any thing, the one person who had her back pretty much hated her but there was so much more to it.
Ethan was just your typical boy, not wanting to show his feelings but at certain times you could tell he had a big heart, he was a bugger of a guy and i really did love the hate banter and emails written between him and Rachel.
The thing i loved about this book was we never got the full story behind these two characters past but surely chapter by chapter we were finding out little things and it made me not want to put he book down whatsoever. I haven’t had a book keep me up past my bedtime in a long while.
Absolutely loved this book if your a fan of college, enemies to lovers, with all the feels and such feelings coming from the pages then this one is for you loved everything about it.
A massive 5 forget you Stars
An oddly endearing rom com with wonderful writing that’s a quick and easy read. High marks for infusing some originality into an often used enemies to lovers plotline. The characters are terrific. Their first meeting was classic! The ugly duckling to swan use for the transformation of the hilarious odd duck Rachel not overdone. Her fight and fighting (literally) was great. As well as high school hot jock to college bad boy Ethan. I loved the way they signed off in their letters and the fact that they wrote letters at all and were a source of many laughs and was a mode of getting to know them. The slow build from frenemies to lovers was marvelous and when they finally went there is was hot. They turned into a sexy couple with so much history it made their connections a thing of beauty. Great read from a great author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
This was fun and entertaining. I liked the way Rachel and Ethan loved to hate each other. They caused each other some misery while growing up, some of it even made me chuckle. In a weird twisted way, they have a great friendship and it was cute how they looked out for each other. I wish it were longer, only because I wanted more of these two.
