She’s burdened by guilt and tragedy. He wants to help her, but he has secrets of his own.Madisyn Steele graduated college with no job lined up and no income of her own. She returned to her childhood home where her wealthy and overbearing father won’t wait for her to get her life in order. He’s continuing his domineering pattern and ruling her life, even going so far as to ignore her wishes by … wishes by trying to arrange her marriage to Reese Rutherford, a man she despises—just to solidify his business prospects.
Nate Roberts is barely making ends meet. Despite his hardships, he plans to make it on his own and never return to the home he ran from years earlier. He’s begging friends for food the night he has a chance encounter with Madisyn and everything changes. First he’s willing to go back to Enchantment Bay and earn an honest wage for her, then he’s ready to chance hauling illegal contraband just to make the kind of money she’s used to.
Madisyn doesn’t care about material things. She only cares about Nate. But her father’s plans and Reese’s schemes threaten the future she and Nate are trying to build. Can they reveal their secrets and work through all the issues keeping them apart, or will they ultimately push each other away?
Bayside Opposites was previously published as Love’s First Kiss. It has been revised to become part of the Hunters series and has one new chapter added. Otherwise, it is essentially the same story.

I have been provided with a copy of Bayside Opposites by the author for an impartial review. This book used to be called Love’s First Kiss and was a part of the First Street Church Romance Series and has since been taken down and has been updated to fit in the Hunter series. If you have previously read Love’s First Kiss the only difference I noticed when I went through it was some of the details have been changed to fit more within the Hunter’s world and an extra chapter has been added about halfway through with some of the Hunter characters. The majority of the content is still the same as it was in Love’s First Kiss so unless you would like to read the entire book again which you can if you want because it is such a good book really the only thing you will miss is the one extra chapter. Ahhh this was just such a sweet book. This book was such an easy and quick read and I absolutely loved getting to see how Madisyn and Nate come together. I hope I see them in other books in this series. I can’t wait to read more from this series.
Madisyn and Nate were best friends and in love when they were younger. Then life took them apart. But when they meet together, Madisyn back home width a degree but without a purpose in life and Nate trying to right all that has gone wrong in his life, they feel the old connection again. But Madisyn’s father had other plans for her daugther, to marry Reese Rutherford, son of his father’s partner. Can they have a chance to be together coming from so different backgrounds?
The Hunters Boxed Set – All the stories of the Hunters Series are good. I’ve read several more of the eight besides the boxed set.
Seaside Surprises #1 – Pleasant surprise! Since this was my first book by Ms. Claflin, I was surprised. The author did great job with her writing, characters, and plot, which immerses the reader into the story. It’s refreshing to read a decent book without explicit sex and profanity and stupidity. I’ll be reading more of Ms. Claflin’s book. She ranks with Maeve Binchy.
Seaside Heartbeats #2 – Intriguing. Another well written, funny romance with heartwarming characters that are real and a twisting plot giving suspense to the story. The Hunters are a good family and each story is fresh, no repeats.
Seaside Dances #3 – Little sad. A well written, intriguing romance with a couple of not so happy characters and all the rest of characters in this series. The plot twists from a sad, slow beginning into fast moving happiness. Not my favorite book of the Hunters series, but still an interesting read.
Seaside Kisses #4 – Heartwarming. A well written, interesting romance with well developed characters with realistic dialog and a good plot. The Hunters’ stories may end the same way, HEA, but getting there is different for each Hunter and soulmate. Ms. Claflin does not disappoint the reader with these eight books.
Seaside Kisses – Unpleasant surprise. The author did a great job writing this book until the main characters went stupid. Why do many authors have their main characters stop believing the people they love and trust the word of people they don’t know personally and know those people are usually scum/trouble? It was an unpleasant surprise, when one of my favorite authors did this near the end. A smart, successful woman goes stupid and insecure, instead of doing the right thing. But Ms. Claflin did take the heads out of the nether regions and put them back on the shoulders of the woman and the love interest. This was still a good book and the author is still one of my favorites.
Bayside Promises #8 – A heavy but with humor story. A well written, intense romance with interesting, believable characters. The heaviness of the father’s destructive behavior towards his family damages his daughters, but they still have a sense of humor, although love is difficult. I didn’t like the father, because of his destruction, but not everything is sunshine and roses. This book is kinda like watching Die Hard when it first hit the screen, it involved your emotions too hard when the causes were exposed to the girls’ thought processes. It is a good story and worth reading.
Bayside Destinies #9 – A heavy but heartwarming story. A well written, intense romance with an intriguing dilemma for the main characters. The characters, all known to us from the rest of the series, are still interesting and appealing. The dialog is realistic and the plot immerses the reader fully. The book is full of humor, even with the dark subject material. Another hard to put down book by an author who can write an interesting story without vulgar language and sex.
Bayside Opposites #10 – Heartwarming romance. A well written, lighthearted romance with two wonderful characters, actually three including the great state of Texas. The well thought out plot and developed characters keep the reader in suspense until the book ends, which is way to soon since the story is so good. Ms. Claflin never fails to deliver a good story and I look forward to reading more of her books.
