TavinEver since Toben told me to make my first birthday wish, I always wish for the same thing: for us to run away to a beautiful place where they won’t ever find us or hurt us again. He’s the only person in the world who loves me. I love him too. He’s says we’re the same, that we’re halfpeople. He tries to protect me from the monster. The monster does’t love us, but Toben says we don’t need him … him to. Toben is all I need. He’s the reason I keep waking up every morning, in this scary life, praying for the day my eyes stay closed. TobenTavin is the most precious thing in my life. She gives me a purpose. I love her more than the air in my lungs, and it’s because of her that I’m able to hang on to some semblance of who I once was. His sinister cruelty has taken its toll, causing something to change inside of me. She can’t ever know the things I’ve done. The things he’s made me do, and the things I’ve done because of my own darkening heart. She wouldn’t understand that I did those things for her. Everything breath I take, every soul I crush is for her. It’s all for her.Trigger Warning: This novel contains drug use, explicit sexual content, violence, extreme child abuse, and sensitive subject matter which may be triggering to some readers.

I am so glad that the author included this in the trilogy. The first two books told such a complete tale that she definitely could have just concluded the story there, but this last book gives you Tavin and Toben’s story from the beginning. It just completes it, and as dire or ghastly that the account of events are, I think it is essential in understanding who Tavin and Toben really are and how they came to be. This recount is done from Toben and Tavin’s perspective, starting from the very early age when their nightmare began.
The love and the bond they shared was deeper than any other I have seen because of what they endured together bringing understanding; empathy; a connection. They knew first hand of the pain and immorality that happened as they experienced it together. We have experienced the tragic and repugnant events in the first two books but this segment just opens the wounds wider and illuminates the vile that slithers in the dark.
Bravo Charity B!! A stellar premiere introduction to you as an author and you’re impressive talent!
So I decided it was time to finish Tavin and Toben’s story which actually took me back to the beginning to when they were just kids. Charity B. ripped my heart out, stomped on it and kicked it to the curb. I fell in love with Toben all over again because of his love for Tavin, then hated him and then went back to loving him. I think Logan caused me a temporary eye twitch.
Cupcakes and Crooked Spoons is the conclusion to the Sweet Treats series. Just like the first two books, don’t be thinking about a sweet story with sunshine and lollipops. The candy being handed out here is from the one house when you were a child trick-or-treating that everyone told you not to go to. Cupcakes and Crooked Spoons is deliciously depraved. The trigger warnings at the beginning can attest to this. What kept me grounded throughout this series was Tavin. “She’s my purpose, my joy, the only thing beautiful left in my so-called existence. She is love.”
I just finished and I’m suffering a very ugly cry at the moment
This is the true beginning, though it is also the ending
This is Toben’s version, in a way I feel for him but I don’t know if I forgive him -Cupcakes is the final book in Tavin and Tobens story , it is their story from Toben’s pov -it takes us past book one all the way to the beginning – how it all started and it walks us through the darker areas that we have yet to visit in books one and two and provides us with a bit more background and answers as to how the events unfolded.
Cupcakes is a detailed and graphic look at the horrors that exist behind closed doors – the truth behind the long sleeves – Be prepared for a very painful and emotional journey that will drag you to the darkest depths of depravity, suffocate you, then suddenly shoot you to the surface leaving you gasping for a breath of happiness
*Note this is a dark, dark story- for some this may contain serious triggers
This took an unexpected turn to what was already dark. I wasn’t expecting to read about what happened with the other lotuses and it totally blew my mind!
Perfect saddening ending to the trilogy! One thing I absolutely loved about this third story was that besides it being toben and tavin’s POC, it shed light to the parts of the story we’ve read before without actually being repetitive. Ohh Toben… the darkness in him I never saw before. Kyle’s last message almost makes me wonder about him but im totally satisfied with it all
The third book in the series, but it is actually the prequel of Tavin and Toben’s story. In the other two book we got glimpses of what the enduring during the time with Logan, but in this book we get the whole story.
It is heartbreaking, dark, depraved and very very sad. It is not an easy book to read and i can’t you the things i wanted to do to Logan and the so called parents and clients. What kept me going was the ray of hope and joy Tavin was sometimes able to find.
I am not sure how I feel about Toben. I am very conflicted about him and what he did.
This book is not for everyone, but if you enjoyed the other books in the series then this is a must read.
