A lovely romance. We got to see characters from book one and watch these two turn into more. I loved the teenager aspect. This book really was well thought out and I loved it.
He has always love her––from afar since she fell in love and married his best friend.
When she was widowed he continued to look out for her, never trying or more while she grieved.
An innocent conversation leads to them meeting up for dinner… Is it a date?
Is she ready to “date”; would her son be OK with her dating?
The characters are well done and the story well paced…
The dialogue seems realistic.
It works as a stand-alone, but you really do want to read the series.
This is a sweet, clean romance that is the epitome of a forever love. Janey is the girl that got away from Adam when she fell in love and married his best friend Matt. One the day of Janey’s and Matt’s wedding, Matt asked Adam to watch over Janey if anything should happen to him. A promise that he would would keep when Janey was widowed before her son was born. Adam has carried the torch for Janey since his early school days, feelings that he has been unable to share. However, that is about to change.
Elana Johnson has written a beautiful love story. Her words come to life on the page as she slowly leads her readers into the lives of Adam, Janey and her son Jess. The relationship plays out against the backdrop of a small town where every person seems to know everything about everyone. As the relationship grows, old fears intrude, until a single moment changes the course of their HEA. Janey must work through her feelings and fears before she can risk her and her son’s future. Janey, Jess and Adam find their HEA in this 5 star book!
Oh, the drama and the angst! This pair nearly had me tearing my hair out. They also made me want to cry myself silly. Adam had a crush on Janey for as long as he could remember, but the fear of revealing his crush meant that his best friend got the girl. Adam’s not going to let his fear stand in the way this time. Janey’s fear of losing another love just might make everything impossible, though. Their story was so sweet and filled with so many wonderful funny and emotional moments. And where Dixie stole the show in the last book, Jess ran away with this one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
I enjoyed the book and liked the well-developed characters. Elana Johnson has a writing style that really works for me. I wanted that HEA for the characters and got a sweet one. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
loved the book if you like second chances in love you will like the story,
Adam, the Chief of Police has had a crush on Janey for a long, long time. But his best friend married her and was killed in a ferry accident early in their marriage. Janey and her son Jess have been on their own ever since. Adam has secretly watched over them all this time, but still wants a relationship with Janey. I love the story – especially the way Adam interacts with Jess.
In this gentle love story, there is unrequited love, fear of losing love and the need for love. Janey has been a self-sufficient widow with a young son who is hitting puberty, with attitude. After 12 long years, she is finally getting to the place where she is once again willing to consider getting back into the dating pool. Adam, on the other hand, has had a crush on Jamie since they were in high school together, but when his best friend marries her, he takes a step back. However, in all the years of her being on her own, Adam has hovered quietly in the background, taking care of Jamie and Jess without them being aware of it. When an incident brings a teaming up of resources, Adam takes his chance and begins a tentative courtship of Jamie. Although the story depicts the rhythm of small-town life, it nevertheless keeps the reader’s attention all the way through, as it is well written, emotive and touches the heart. Adam is a delightful, caring hero, and Jamie a charming albeit slightly frazzled heroine. Jess brings light and humour to the story, and without their family and best friends, this story would have less character and depth. Characters from the previous book in this series appear in this book as well, however it is nevertheless a standalone and has a really good ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
