Hoping to find romance, Scarlet Telfair tries her hand at online dating. However upon making a new online connection she unwittingly engages with evil. (PURE EVIL!) Fascinating story! As always from this author, the writing is witty, the descriptions vivid, and the story line completely engrossing. Krall is an astonishing storyteller. All in all, Noble Jones is an engrossing read that I highly recommend to all readers, especially lovers of suspense and mild horror. Well done!
This story was not what I expected. Ms. Krall spins a wonderful and chilling tale of the online dating world. Forebodings and numerous signs along the way tell of evil to come. Noble Jones will cause many to pause before venturing into the online dating scene. As always, the authors descriptions capture eerie spectral moments superbly. This is a fast and thrilling read. Can’t wait to read Ms. Krall’s next supernatural tale!!!
After purchase, I intended to just peek at the first few pages and before I knew it I had reached the end!
This is a dark tale cleverly concocted by author Bibiana Krall as we are quickly drawn into Scarlett’s world and her search for romance. As each word unfolded, a movie played out in my mind and I was gripped; I had to know what would happen next. Set in Savannah, Georgia, one of the most haunted cities in North America, it’s hard to separate reality from the supernatural.
I love the author’s writing style and the way that she quickly draw’s the reader in and conjures up just the right emotions. This is a worthy 5 star read and I can’t wait to see more from this talented writer.
Here It Is…
Bibiana Krall’s Noble Jones is about as unpredictable as it gets. As usual with Krall, the writing is the strength of the piece, the poetry, the descriptions, and most of all the economy of words. The author can take you from home to a full day of work, shop for food, go back home, cook, and then drop off to sleep, all in one passage. And don’t feel like you’ve missed anything. Before you know it, Voilà; you’re in the dream, er nightmare.
Briana Krall handles the short story more like an abstract artist would a painting, which makes sense, and you only get a true sense of her rendering when you step back and take it all in, or in this case experience the final word. We, like the protagonist, Scarlett, are along for the character-driven ride. Fasten your seatbelts for this one. It’s kinda spooky. Five stars, please.
Author Bibiana Krall once again weaves a haunting tale of intrigue in this short story. Scarlett Telfair is a successful architect, looking for love with dreams of settling down in her home town of Savannah. She browses the dating sites and is drawn to Lovelorn123, a shadow of a man surrounded by mystery–and no past to be found. Strange events begin to haunt Scarlett as she struggles to keep them at bay–flickering lights, strange smells. an open fridge–she wonders what is going on. Adding to her stress is a leering boss who wants to restart a past moment of indiscretion.
Lovelorn123 begins to dominate her dreams, capturing her in nightmare scenarios. Unmasked as Noble Jones, will she be able to stop his insidious overtures? Or will he be back when she least suspects it–capturing her for eternity? Be careful where you step and roam, ladies! A suspenseful short story that will keep you guessing…
Oh,naive Scarlet!Sometimes, you do need to pay attention to those foreboding nuances and pay heed to your gut instance. Noble’s online profile and the overnight influx of millions of new females seeking to make the same connection as you. Online dating-you’ve been down that road before-but, your need to find ‘the one’,settle, create a stable home with children-sigh. All these have apparently supplanted your common sense. Once again, Ms. Krall captures your attention with her magnificent use of palpable descriptions, realistic dialogue, and a well-developed plot. Not only do I wish to visit Savannah, specifically the Noble’s home, but hang out and visit the local clubs, restaurants, bars, and landmarks she talks about on Noble Jones!
