LUCKY LIAR is the first instalment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult LUCKY ALPHAS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former friends from Birdsville, Ohio. This is thirty-one year old, billionaire businessman Wade Maxium, and twenty-six year old, waitress Zoe Young’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspective (Wade and Zoe) LUCKY LIAR follows the marriage of convenience between thirty-one year old, billionaire businessman Wade Maxium, and twenty-six year old, waitress Zoe Young. Zoe Young needed a quick influx of cash, and blackmailing billionaire and former Birdsville, Ohio alumni Wade Maxium was the perfect foil for her misplaced plan, a plan that went south with Wade’s offer of marriage and more. What ensues is the marriage of convenience between Wade and Zoe, and the potential fall-out as demons from the past demand payment for what happened years before.
Zoe Young accidentally discovered a secret about Wade Maxium’s past, a secret that could destroy his life but a secret known only to a few. Zoe, desperate for money to help pay for her mother’s continuing cancer therapy, soon discovers that blackmailing a billionaire isn’t as easy as set out to be. Wade Maxium’s sins have finally caught up with our story line hero, sins that involve several former friends whose actions, years before, have come back to haunt. Exposure would mean ruin, blackmail continues to be an on-going theme for the group known as the Lucky Lions.
The relationship between Zoe and Wade begins as a business arrangement following the wedding that never was. To avoid public humiliation after being left at the altar by an international model and star, Wade offers Zoe a deal she cannot refuse, a deal that would see her mother’s bills covered, and a two year contractual marriage to the man with whom she would fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive but I struggled to feel any palpable sexual attraction between our leading couple due in part to Wade’s verbal treatment of our story line heroine.
We are introduced to Wade’s former friends and the group known as the Lucky Lions: headhunter Harper Jones, singer Shane Collar, and businessman Leo West: Wade’s sister Sarah Maxium; and Zoe’s younger brother DJ , and their mother Diane Young. The requisite evil has many faces including Wade’s ex-fiance supermodel Tara.
LUCKY LIAR is a cautionary tale of betrayal and revenge when past sins resurface without warning. The premise is riveting; the romance is passionate; the characters are wounded, sassy and spirited. LUCKY LIAR does not end on a cliff-hanger but keeps open the prospect of continuing threats for the remaining Lucky Lions.

A 4.5 Star Rating For This Steamy & Suspenseful Romance!!
I really enjoyed this book, It was so easy to lose myself in. All of the characters were believable (within the context of the setting)
Zoe is in her mid twenties & her Mum, who has worked hard as single parent her whole life, has been diagnosed with cancer!! Zoe had to drop out of college due to a break down so works as a waitress in her home town. They’re struggling to pay for everything but Zoe is determined to make sure her Mum gets the treatment she needs and that her 14 year old brother won’t suffer either!! With that in mind she throws her morals & scruples out of the window and makes her way to New York City – She’s got a Billionaire to blackmail
Wade is at his wedding venue. He maybe slightly tipsy but who could blame him with the news he was just given?! He’s fuming, facing humiliation in his personal life but even worse, as far as he’s concerned, his business life too. His Fiancee has jilted him for another man & It puts a deal with the Chinese, worth millions, in jeopardy!! A gorgeous young waitress is in the side room he just shut himself away in and what does she say?? “I know what happened to your Father & that it was you. Give me $2m and you’ll never hear from me again!!” He takes It all in, then after a bit of back & forth replies with words to the effect of- “Marry Me instead?”
These two start out so unconventionally but It quickly becomes apparent they are at least attracted to one another The story really starts once they meet up the day after the blackmail turned proposal. It’s clear someone is out to get Wade in business but also personally!! He turns to old friends for help Zoe & Wade get closer as things get more tense Vulnerabilities are exploited and love may not be enough to save them
It was like the Author had breathed new life into her work for this book. It was written with perfect pace & didn’t feel rushed at the end, which was something I’d felt with some of her past books!!
It had suspense, romance, blackmail, kidnapping & sexy times too It was full of snark & whit, family & friendships as well as all the wonderful characters we got introduced to I really liked Scott, Sarah, Thomas (An mm book from Ms Crowe in the future perhaps??) and especially Harper – I hope they each get their own story’s
I’m more than happy to recommend this new tale by one of my favourite billionaire Authors

A marriage of convenience, one that was supposed to solve both their problems, becomes very complicated. Zoe finds evidence of a possible crime and despite her naivety, decides that she can use it to solve her problems. Wade, on the other hand, is horrified when Zoe states that she has evidence on his past, but he has his own set of problems. One look at Zoe tells him that she is no match for him when it comes to negotiating and he sets his own rules. However, once the lid comes off and the contents are spilled, there is no way of putting things back the way they were. This is a romance with a mystery to be solved and some drama. Despite his domineering manner and winner takes all attitude, Wade is nevertheless a likable character and the fact that he is able to change says a lot about him. Zoe is scared and naive, but she has gumption and even though her status changes, she remains true to herself and wins the approval of those around Wade. Thomas is delightful, and every woman needs a friend like him. This book is part of a series and although Wade and Zoe’s story is a standalone, the story ends on a note that leaves an opening for a follow-on. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is the start of a series and a great start. Zoe is struggling to help her mother who has cancer. Her life is a mess. She cant afford to pay for her mom to have good treatment and support her little brother. She’s just a collage dropout working as a waitress. Then an opportunity comes by ways of an old rusted box on a hike with a note implementing the very wealthy Wade Maxium. She figures hey not blackmail him on his wedding day but when his soon to be wife calls it off he has other ideas and now he’s calling the shots. It was a very enjoyable summer read. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series since the secondary characters are always have stories to tell. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and this is my own honest option.
Alpha Male Strikes a Deal.
Zoe attempts to blackmail a wealthy businessman in order to fund medical treatment for her mother and a day later finds herself married to him! Wade Maxium is a man who knows what he wants and goes for it; what he wants is a deal with the Chinese which will net him millions and obtaining a temporary wife will erase the humiliation of being jilted by his supermodel fiancée. A good start to a new series, with interesting characters and a marriage of convenience which becomes real. As the action takes place over a very short period I was pleased that there was an epilogue.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dramatic start. There is also good main characters who come from such opposite poles of life.
I did like Zoe and her often bold mouth but Wade? I switched back and forth between liking him and wanting to re-name him. Can anyone spell J-E-R-K? No wonder Zoe felt like life was topsy turvey when it came to him. Is he attractive? Check. Is he rich? Check. Is he hard to live with? Double Check. Can he be sweet at times? Check. Could he use his words as a weapon at times? Check. Hence, the reason I thought he was a jerk at times. The conversations between Wade and Zoe were often interesting just because of him being a jerk during those times. Zoe owns up to the fact that she can be snarky. So that brought out some humor. When Wade allowed himself to be caring and sweet, yes then he was quite charming.
There is a couple of mysteries going on that are causing Wade some major problems. The time or two that Wade took out his frustration on Zoe through his words (even though it hurt), she made sure to let him know it WASN’T okay.
The story does come to a satisfying conclusion, with questions answered. Plus an enjoyable Epilogue.
Nice artwork on the eBook cover.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
