George Washington Township, New Jersey has been relatively quiet ever since it was turned upside down following a high profile kidnapping. During the lull in excitement Detective Claire Goodnite has enjoyed being in the love bubble with the sexy SAIC Wesley O’Connell.Never fully believing that she was capable of a committed relationship—with Wes or with anyone—leaves Claire feeling undeserving of … anyone—leaves Claire feeling undeserving of the elusive happily ever after. She has never let herself enjoy what was within her grasp . . .
Until a string of murdered women dressed and posed like sleeping dolls shakes the very foundation of everything Claire thought she knew. Particularly when the only connection to be found between the three victims is the man who finally stole her heart for keeps, Wes.
But it’s like she always said, she’s bad at love.

Tuck Me in Tight by Jennifer Rebecca is book Two in the Clair Goodnite series. This continues the story of Wes and Claire which started in the first book ‘Tell Me a Story’. I haven’t yet read that book so I was able to make this a standalone book.
This book has a underline mystery while working on the romance story too. This is my first book by this author but enjoyed this one enough that I will be looking for more from this author.
See my review for this series under my review for book 3, Say a Sweet Prayer!
This isn’t your typical indie romance novel. To be honest, it really reminds me of a romance novel published by a big time publisher like Penguin or Harper Collins. It’s a second in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I’m not sure how to really describe what this book felt like to me while reading, just that maybe it felt a bit more… sophisticated that what I’m used to reading.
That’s not to say the sex scenes aren’t what you’d find in a typical indie romance novel, because they totally are. They’re totally hot and very well written. I guess it’s just that along with the sex and the relationship trouble, there was a lot to the story too.
The synopsis drew me in when it said that girls were being murdered and posed like dolls. And while I had a good feeling I knew who the murderer was (I was right), I was never absolutely certain. Jennifer Rebecca does a good job of creating doubt when it comes to solving the case.
This book also reminded me a lot of NCIS. Especially with the look into the morgue. Emma reminds me of Abby from NCIS. Read it and tell me I’m wrong.
There’s also a second “story” that’s happening along with the present case. Claire keeps having dreams that are flashbacks to when she was kidnapped as a little girl. I feel like this part of the book was kind of left open-ended, which I guess it was meant to be, because they never caught her kidnapper. But, I would have loved to read more about her time with the kidnapper and how she escaped.
I will definitely be reading more of this series. I love Will and Claire, because they are meant to be together forever.
The second by Jennifer Rebecca in some ways creeped me out and got me excited. Wes is stronger than ever making it very well known how much he wants Detective Claire Goodnite. The sex scenes between them are hot and the chemistry hotter than ever. Claire is strong and brave yet still haunted by what happened to her years ago. Jennifer Rebecca and her murderer each time was creepy how it happens. All in all this is one series that is becoming a favorite of mine cannot wait what Wes will do next and Claire surviving his love.
