I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. Each book in this collection is reviewed separately.
Alpha’s Heart – I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I just absolutely love how much trouble Taylor gets into and sometimes it’s not even his fault. I loved how much the Beas didn’t seem to like Taylor, and didn’t know how to take him, but it got even worse when he was meeting a couple of the snobby uptight den alphas and one of squeezed his hand really hard and as Taylor was shaking his hand out he knocked a whole tray of drinks from a betas hand as she was walking passed straight onto one the the alphas and then the other one slipped and fall onto another alpha and it was like dominos alphas crashing into alphas and then Walt, Taylor’s cousin yelled at him for causing a scene which Taylor didn’t like so he yelled back and then went outside to have a moment, his new friend and alpha heir Stefan comes outside and they both sat in the gazebo having a drink and talking. Stefan had been warned by Mikael that if neither of the wolf omegas were his fated mate he was to keep his hands off, but after a coupe of days getting to know each other more Taylor being Taylor talked Stefan into a completion to test their s*xual prowess but they don’t actually touch each other. They’d just finished the competition when they hear a extremely loud roar and then a massive bear charges at them and Stefan is frozen, shaking, apologising and smelling of fear as Mikael had told Stefan to not touch either of the omegas and to find them in the situation they were in and then smelling that Taylor was his fated mate didn’t help the situation. Taylor smells Mikael as well but as soon as he hears him going off at his friend Stefan he tells Mikael what he thinks of him and that it was his idea to do the competition so he should apologise to Stefan for charging at them.
I loved how Taylor wasn’t afraid to stand up for himself and I loved that Mikael could be reasonable and listen to Taylor’s suggestions and I also loved that Mikael accepted Taylor how he is, and told him that he should just be himself and that he shouldn’t change himself for anyone. I also loved the moment when Stefan tried to steal some pineapple from Taylor’s plate while he was pregnant and Taylor told him off then st*bbed him in the hand with a fork which started bleeding then Taylor started bawling his eyes out while telling Stefan how sorry he is, those pregnancy hormones are definitely no joke. I also loved how good Taylor is for Mikael and Stefan as well as being able to breathe some life into the den that totally need it, and hopefully most the bears will get with the times and stop being so formal. I also loved Taylor and Mrs. K’s interactions, and Stefan is so happy that Mikael and Taylor had an alpha their first try so he doesn’t have to be in charge if something happens to Mikael will at least until wee Alec comes of age. I’m looking forward to reading Sean’s book next as he definitely deserves his own happiness after basically becoming older brother/dad and raising Taylor, which Taylor didn’t make it easy that’s for sure.
Alpha’s Mates – I really enjoyed this book. I’m happy that Sean got his happily ever after, especially after becoming Taylor’s big brother/dad at 18 years old and let’s face it Taylor wouldn’t be easy to look after lol. I loved the connection between Sean, Colin and Jules, I love how suited they are for each other and I love that they’re all equal in their relationship and don’t expect Colin to stay at home and raise their cubs. I love how annoyed Colin was getting with all their talking when he just wanted to be claimed. I found it hilarious how fascinated both Colin and Sean were when they saw Jules knotting Vortex for the first time. I love Jules names of endearment for both Sean and Colin and I love how Sean and him call each other Pretty Kitty and Puppy Dog, luckily their mates so they both allow it but if anyone else tried they’d have hell to pay. I love how all three of them came together to re-open Colin’s family diner after Colin lost his dad’s in a car crash when he was abducted by the group of Rogues working for Yvonne, Mikael’s sister that’s banished from the area and made it their own and they pall decided to use their strengths to make it a family business like Sean doing the office side of things since he’s has a business and marketing degree, Colin will be in the kitchen since Cooking is his passion and since Jules doesn’t know much about either but he’s great at putting together a team he’s in charge of hiring the staff that they need. I loved the brotherly moments between Sean and Taylor, especially when Mikael was injured Taylor just needed a hug from his big brother/dad. I’m looking forward to Stefan’s story as he needs someone to keep him grounded and make him believe that he’s very capable, especially in being the alpa heir and he’d totally rock being the leader of the den if needed, well at least until Alec becomes of age.
Alpha’s Strength – I really enjoyed this book. I loved how Taylor and Stefan were joking about how Colin’s soup is life changing and then when Stefan arrived at Three Hearts Cafe for their grand opening he scents his true mate Diego, who is Jules’s cousin he had just arrived at Jules and his mates’ place after fleeing Belize with some of the gold from the dowry that was paid for him to mate with the Chieftan’s alpha son since he didn’t want to mate with him plus he was way older than Diego. I loved how Diego shocked Stefan when he asked him why would he be dropping him at Jules’s house since wouldn’t he be living with him, as Stefan thought that Diego may want to have a courting period but he was like we’re true mates so what’s there to think about as fate put us together so why would we fight fate. The war with the Rogues and Yvonne is heating up and the Den was attacked and they lost 17 people. I also loved that Diego considering the house beta assistants as part of their extended family and marked them all while in his Jaguar form so he could locate them if anything happened while they made their way through the woods to the alpha mansion after the attack began, I also thought it was cool that Stefan okayed for Diego to help be one of the points even though he was pregnant, yes Stefan was scared that he might get hurt but he knew that there was no point in arguing as his senses are more refined so he’d know in advance if anything was coming their way. I loved how when Stefan was freaking out when the points wanted to know what to do when they were in the woods about to make their way to the alpha mansion, and Diego noticed this and used their bond to calm him down as well as give him some different options on what to do. I still love Taylor and Stefan’s friendship and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the war with the Rogues and Yvonne.
I’d definitely recommend this collection, each book in the series and author to everyone.
This bundle is the first three books in the Northern Pines Bundle. I listened to the audio version. I loved the narration and just the slight differences in tone to distinguish the different characters. This book features two strong couple and a unlikely triad. I love how the different characters fit each other so well. The drama is laid through the books and when these moments happen they are intense and harrowing. But the romance is also allowed to build and is not overshadowed by the happenings. I can’t wait to listen the next set of story to see the end of the rein of terror on these wonderful shifters.
Individually, these books are short and fast reads. I like it better when the books are bundled together because I feel it flows much better. This series has fluff, romance, sex, and true mates. It also has action due to the Rogue War that threatens both the wolf and bear shifters.
Narration: I also listened to this bundle after I read the stories. John Solo does an amazing job with bringing this story to life. His performance is spectacular and I’m amazed at how many voices he can do.
Overall Rating: 3.75 Stars. It’s a fun series with the action really picking up. The sex scenes are hot and varied with wonderful characters that I can’t help but love. Plus, lots of fluff and sweetness.
This is my review of the audiobook:
This was a nice bundle of inter-connected stories, and I found it to be a fun read. Other than the crazy alpha female making life difficult for the Northern Pines Den, the stories are primarily lighthearted and are full of sex between fated mates.
My favorite character throughout the stories was Stefan, and he was the one best portrayed by the narrator, in my opinion. The voice portrayal of Jules, on the other hand, made me want to speed up the playback. I did love how the bear shifters all had a similar, almost laid back sound to their voices.
I felt like some things, such as the death of Colin’s parents, could have been a good time to show more of the omega’s grief and emotions, but I still enjoyed the story as it was written. I liked the fact that the omegas were not looked at as weaker than the alphas in this world.
This is an author who obviously has a great sense of humor, and I appreciated it very much in this bundle of stories.
This bundle includes books 1-3 in Susi Hawke’s Northern Pines Den Alphas series. This is a great series filled with funny, sweet and sexy characters, getting knotty, being sassy, and making you fall for them all.the universe created by Susi Hawke is amazing and I’m addicted to this world. Definitely recommend this bundle!
