Sandy works in the Atlanta RTMC’s B&B. She’s a working girl. She’s close to graduating from Georgia Tech and doesn’t owe a penny in student loans. However, she hasn’t had a relationship in years. She has her trusty cocker spaniel, Prince, and a three-point-five GPA. There isn’t time for a man in her life, but she won’t even attempt a relationship while she supports herself with sex work.Vic … work.
Vic is a straight man who happens to be a bitchin’ drag queen. He’s also a peacock, which makes living in the city uncomfortable, but when his alter-ego Vickie gets a standing job as hostess of the stage for one of the premier drag shows in Atlanta, he moves into midtown — though thankfully he finds a condo adjoining Piedmont Park.
Can a drag queen — certain he’ll never find a woman who can handle the fact his wardrobe and makeup is better than hers — convince the workin’ girl to give him a chance? And can Sandy let someone into a kink she only discovered because a client asked for it? She’s never experienced it with someone she cares about, but it happens to be Vic’s kink, too.

The newest book in the Chattanooga Supernaturals series is one HOT read. Vic and Sandy are strong characters with super chemistry and they heat up each and every page with some super sexy and blazing hot love scenes, the story is also further heated up with some other sex scenes as well, so in case you haven’t figured it out yet, the story is definitely erotic. As usual, Candace Blevins really knows how to bring her stories to vivid life with lots of informative and descriptive scenes without making anything seem vulgar or in bad taste so if it’s not the reader’s kink they still enjoy reading the book, also if reader’s don’t really have an understanding of the erotic world, then Candace’s books explain things to the readers while they get to enjoy some really great reads. Vic and Sandy both have secrets to divulge before they can even think about a romance which adds a bit of intrigue to their romance as they work toward their happily ever after.
I really couldn’t put this story down once I started reading it and I love how Candace introduces new and unique elements to her stories and not just in the erotic area of the stories as with this one… Peacock shifters, I never thought of that one and I’ve got tell you I like it. If fact the only downside to this story that I have is that it was over too soon, but I console myself with the fact that I can visit the Kirsten O’Shea universe anytime I like and of course that Candace will soon be releasing another one.
Creative and touching, this cocky dare is an utter delight. If anyone asked me if a shifter peacock could be kinky and dominant whilst being a drag queen, I would have blinked and then laughed like a loon.
I probably would still read it because I love reading about non conventional shifters. Would it have been a story will a good plot and developed characters? Probably not. In this case, it is Ms. Blevins so I am intrigued. Because when it comes to character development, world building and kinky sex – she rocks it. In this story, she excels.
Throw in a little ageplay, spanking and cross dressing and I’m thinking dirty naughty thoughts.
Regardless of why this book came to existence, I am glad Ms. Blevins’ muse smacked her around and showed her who’s boss. I loved the story. First of all, the use of a peacock shifter is brilliant. When paired with a man who’s chosen profession is a drag queen, it becomes genius. I am so thrilled because as everyone should know, a peacock with the beautiful plumage is a male, not a female. This translation between human and shifter is so well paired. What caught me off guard was the kink.
Second, I’m a fan of age-play. How being a little blends seamlessly into this story is surprising. Ms. Blevins shines an insightful light into this kink. She is respectable about it and shows how it can translate into every day life. As someone who is into this kink, I thank her for it.
Third, casting characters who are playful, sweet and of substance with some far out there parameters is impressive. Sandy’s history and why she is goes to school at Georgia Tech is touching. Her chosen job to make money to pay for school takes guts and since this is a paranormal romance, it is done in a way that I admire and wish were real. Sandy is a good girl who knows her mind and is willing to do what it takes to make her dreams come true. She doesn’t sell herself short. She makes the use of all her talents.
Vic is the one I fell in love with… not only because he is a Daddy dom. His profession is not easy and from the looks of it, he carries it off with class. His personas are sexy. He is comfortable with his body and he knows his mind. He balances his masculinity and femininity perfectly.
Lastly, the courting of Sandy by Vic keeps me riveted. He looks at her and really sees her. He understands what motivates her and how to bring her up. He pampers her, loves her and accepts her. What more could a woman want in a lover?
This titillating tale is condensed into a tightly woven novella. It is fast paced and the erotic scenes are hawt. All too soon, the story ends and I’m bereft. Hopefully this couple will appear again in one of the other stories in this supernatural series. I highly recommend this erotic delight to all readers who want to experience something unique.

I LOVED THIS STORY! Seriously. And I’ve been talking it up to friends with loads of prodding…”you’ll love it too.” The premise alone was enough to get my attention. A peacock shifter who works as a drag queen. Sign me up now. And once I got into it…all the specific details and nuances that only come from Candace Blevins came pouring out as I rapidly tapped those pages. This is a fast read with a c**cky premise, a sassy female lead and even more sassy male and a prince of a four-legged who can be bribed with chicken. You. Really. Should. Buy. This. Story.
A remarkable, fun union of species!
It’s unusual, a new kind of shifter, a new kind of mating bond, a strong, unapologetic female, the uncle-baby girl part is adorable and an enormous turn-on at the same time.
The ‘grown-up’ sex is through the roof and the dichotomy, or trichotomy (is that a word? ;-)), of Vic, Vicky, Victoria is just a lot of fun. And when he turns on the Dom, phew!
I love it!
This book is a true Candace gem, breath of fresh air between the oh-not-so-gentle-fairy-tale, and I’m loving every word of it !!!
fair warning, if you are used to Candace-style then you are in for a treat, cause this is like almost getting a full 10 sec glimpse of a unicorn before Sophia has them locked up :-p :-p yes, this was a shameless squeeze of other Candace books (but you will have to read them to get the details :-p) and I’m pretty proud of myself.
so, back to our book at hand. given the situation, I was rolling my eyes pretty hard at the title, but once you get into the book, it works, and I’m loving it !!! I looooooove a good drag queen and this one is perfect, and you will love everything about him, and his girl. but the real star of the book is Prince, the cocker spaniel that set the things rolling and was the most important character here. With all the diva attitude in her own home, I can see where the character reference for Prince comes from. Candace, Ivy needs a raise hahahha
but, in all seriousness, as I can muster at this hour, I freakin’ love this book, it was an easy read, like a breath of fresh air, but still true in our loving Candace-type-of-writing, and I promise you, you will come back for more. its a one-sit-read and it won’t leave you hanging (in a bad way, at least :p ) and it was perfect in putting me into a fresh mindset for the final book in our devious fairy tale – QUEEN !!!!! yeeeeeey *book swoon* *double swoon*
I am not a paranormal / shapeshifter reader. It is just no my thing. For me it is not something that could happen in real life. After reading Cocky Queen I think I need to change my mind about this subgenre.
I admit I love Ms. Blevins ‘Safeword Series’. I have read them more times than I can remember. All for the pure physical enjoyment I got out of the book. Oh, the stories are great and well developed also. Do not know the difference but this story highly appealed to me. Maybe it was the title or maybe it was the main male character. Who knows but after reading I was floored with everything.
Well not exactly floored lets’ just say Ms. Blevins writing is the cause of a cluster headache from all the wonderful ‘O’s” she helped to provide.
Who in their right mind would actually think different types of animal shifting to human would be great to read? Totally not this reader.
Let’s take Vic, a drag queen who knows how to strut his stuff and not ashamed to be a top Drag Queen. Vic is happy with himself and his career. Then we have Sandy. A female who has used her body to get her 4-year degree. Probably a hard choice to make but a smart one on her part.
These two people are perfectly made for each other. Ms. Blevins writing created two characters from total opposite sides of the field, brought them together (with readers almost seeing stars), add a little water and that was it. This relationship was sprouting before it received a pat around the seeds.
I highly recommend this book. I highly recommend this whole series. And if you don’t like shapeshifters just read it for the hot, sex and unlimited organisms you will end up having. Ms. Blevins should be proud to know her books are able to bring so much physical pleasure to the life of others.
Thanks again for allowing me to read this book Ms. Blevins. A 5-star read all the way.
Reading the blurb supplied for this story basically just gives the facts describing these two people. Then we are introduced to their personalities and the attraction between them. Sandy understands her kink from her job and has gotten some satisfaction from it in the past. When she meets Vic and sees how different in can be in real life she sees and feels the difference.
I loved it when Vic described how he expected the relationship to work first for him and then how it would be for her as her understanding grew. It was very enlightening. And the kink was both unusual and hot! I loved seeing a snippet of the lifestyle described so eloquently.
And then to see how they managed the two jobs both at the beginning and then as the story progressed was another display of the character development Ms. Blevins does so well. How she fits so much into a novella with such intensity amazes me.
Once again I started at the first page and couldn’t stop until finished. An addiction to her delightful and captivating storytelling is fortunately a healthy one because I am caught in the web of words that she weaves.
I loved this story! There’s not a lot of drama, angst, intrigue, mystery or danger. What the is, is a heartwarming love story between a shifter and a human with some kink mixed in. Vic and Sandy fulfill a need in each other. His loving caring demeanor gives her the safe, peaceful environment she needs to flourish. Her need for a protector or “daddy” to her little, speaks to his need to nourish and cherish her. They just work!
Oh…I love this story! I’ve read a lot of shifter books, this is the first one that’s had a peacock shifter. Vic is smart, classy and a drag queen. Yes!! Sandy is wicked smart, beautiful and works at the RTMC B&B to pay for school. She’s also has a sweet dog, Prince. Prince takes some winning over. All of Candaces books are heavy with BDSM. Cocky Queen shows us another side of the kink culture with Vic and Sandy. Made me do a happy dance to see this dynamic. Your going to have to read this novella to find out…….
Can I just dance around and scream about how awesome this book is? I mean really, besides having our leading man as a peacock shift drag queen, he is also a daddy Dom, so that means *squeals* our heroine is a little . I know, your super excited as well, I can tell!!!!!
Bird shifters are a little well, um, endowed for girth, but luckily our girl is a working girl. They also are polyamourous, but can be monogamous, so again, no worries with the working girl. Good thing, because the attraction is immediate with them. They have seen each other, having run into each other in the park in passing. Both work nights, so their work schedules are off from the norm. Sandy’s cocker spaniel has horrible taste in men, so the fact he doesn’t like Vic actually puts her at ease. He decides to win Prince over, and that leads to them actually talking to each other. They quickly get the big things out of the way, and then figure out how to try and make a relationship work
Sandy needs to figure out what she wants in the bedroom as her, not a working girl and for her clients. Vic needs to make sure knows what he needs and wants from her. They both need to figure out what they are doing with the next step in their lives. We get to be along for the ride, and it is a fun one to be on!

it was amazing
OMG I really enjoyed this book Vic a drag queen,Dom, peacock shifter meets Sandy a awesome leading lady. both characters were great together I really love how Vic support Sandy and never judge her work decision. Sandy was a good match for Vic she meets all his needs. Throw in some hot love scene this book will have you rooting for the main character I never wanted this story to end. No spoilers I voluntarily review this book for my honest opinion.
What a fun and interesting and definitely hot quick story this was. I’ve said this once and I know I will say again many more times…authors just amaze me with the way they can put stories together. Candace is there at the top of my list.
Sandy and Vic are two people with more in common than they think, for one thing, they both have ‘odd’ jobs, not your typical job. And my most favorite part is that they are both into kink, he is a Daddy Dom and she is a little. Their story was just delicious, it met my need for a love story, it had the right amount of kink and even a quirky little cocker spaniel.
I totally recommend this story, it a story you can read in one sitting, the characters just come to life in front of you and you are totally immersed with how they both evolve.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I loved this fun, entertaining story. It was a great read
