But as the undeniable pull between them intensifies, she starts to wonder if she will ever learn the secrets he’s been hiding—or if she even wants to.

Shattered Love transported me back to my teen years.
I loved Jaymerson’s growth and the way she stood up for herself (and Hunter!) and didn’t take crap. The twist on the twins was probably my favorite thing of all. There’s a reveal later in the book that just totally got me. I’m now crushing on Hunter.
Pulled in from the first page. The emotional journey taken by Jayme is intense, emotional, and the whole time you are experiencing it with her. Hoping she makes the right choices and can overcome her struggles along the way. Twists and turns add to the intensity of this book…now to wait for book 2 !! LOVED IT!
Amazing!!! I love Hunter and Jayme. I love this angst, tension, this magic connection between those two. It was amazing read and I want more!!!
** I have received an Arc for a honest review!! **
Shattered Love by Stacy is my very first read by this author! I can’t wait for book in the series!!
Made I was totally captivated by the covered and throughout the book! I fully enjoyed every second of it! Amazing read!
So many feelings and quite emotional, totally ripped my heart into tiny little pieces!
SOOOO GOOD!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Oh my dear heart almost couldn’t take this book. It was so full of angst and I loved it. Every single second of it. This was the first book I’ve read by Stacey Marie Brown and I can’t wait to find more of her books. Especially the next book in this series.
There were so many times I teared up while reading this book. I am not a huge fan of young romance (as the main characters are high school age) but I kept forgetting how young they were. They were very mature for their age. Of course, they went through something most people don’t go through in order to mature so young.
The story line was amazing. Twin brothers. The girlfriend. Twists that you don’t see coming. The chemistry. The connection. So much angst. The writing was fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about this book.
This book felt so real. The characters felt so real. I could relate to the main character. So many times you do things because people expect you to or because you don’t want to not conform with society…to be that girl that everyone can predict. She broke out of the shell and it was so raw. And Hunter was right there with her.
OMG, everyone needs to read this book.
So I don’t normally read contemporary novels, I’m more of a Paranormal, Supernatural, Urban Fantasy type. But I’ve read this author’s other books, so I figured lets give it a shot, what have I got to lose? Turns out this book will make you lose your heart!! It is very aptly titled!! You are going to be shattered!! And it happens in the first chapter!! There were so many strong emotions that the MC is literally being shredded. Both Jaymerson and Hunter are being torn apart, broken, and shattered, only to be pieced back together into a puzzle image of their former selves. But I think they come back a little bit stronger for it. I really enjoyed this book. Even if I was ugly crying and trying to convince the people staring at me that it was allergies…pollen or cat fur or something…yeah…totally not crying…**sniff sniff**
I wanted definitely to smack her parents on a huge number of occasions for pushing her to get back into the partying scene (I mean…really??) and join social situations before she was clearly ready. They obviously didn’t listen to her and pushed her to do more than she was comfortable with. And I really wanted to smack her “friends” for lacking empathy and understanding, but I guess that’s part of what led to such a great book. Most of the characters were revolting and I wanted to drop-kick them.
Stevie on the other hand, I thought she was one of the best characters and I’m hoping for another book with these characters. I would read more about Jaymerson, Hunter, and Stevie. Possibly even some of the other characters like Dougie, Jones, and Chris. The whole dynamic between all of them was interesting.
I like how Hunter kept his whole persona secret, so not a single person (outside his circle and brother) knew he was a Champion rider. He just flat out didn’t care what anyone thought about him, and I thought he was an amazingly written character. Jaymerson seemed pretty one-dimensional until Colton’s death and then she kind of opened up a bit.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it for sure.
***5 ‘Whiskey’ Stars***
ALL. THE. FEELS.
I mean I KNEW that going in, but even knowing that this would more than likely be a Category 3 hurricane of an emotional rollercoaster and preparing for it, it still hit hard and ended up making it so damn difficult to put down. I tried (because you know that #workthing) but it was a losing venture all around. Jaymerson’s journey of watching her entire world explode into little pieces and working through the process of figuring out if she wanted to put the pieces back the way they once were or reconfigure them was addictive and made my heart go all kinds of wonky, but in the best of ways.
I liked Jaymerson from the start and as the story progressed I started to love her and then adore her. This isn’t to say I didn’t get frustrated with her and growl a few, or more, times, but I understood why she did, or didn’t, do things. Her entire world has been shattered and being 17 years old and having to live through it along with the expectations being shoved at her from all directions she was bound to stumble, and boy did she at times. But she is strong, determined and the young woman she was slowly evolving into was definitely someone I could hang out with.
As for Hunter and the whole romance/connection/hate thing they have going on. (Prepare yourself for vagueness) It is quite convoluted, but the why behind it as everything unfolds is…understandable. Their journey is an extremely rocky one and there were times when even I winced at their treatment of each other, I also wanted to knock some sense into both of them, but they are teenagers who were dealing with a lot of stuff and they had to figure it out for themselves. Do they by the end of the book? Maybe? But what I can say is that I adored Hunter and even when they were snipping at each other, I loved them together.
I’ll be honest and admit that even though I love the author’s writing, I was wary to dive into the book simply because it is a duet and I knew that my emotions would be ping ponging all over the place. And they did, but the balance of angst, humor, heartbreak and swoons was done so well that it only heightened my need to keep turning the pages. So bravo to SMB for a very well put together novel. As for the supporting caste of characters. Honestly, I didn’t like many of them, but they were very necessary to the story. My favorite though was Stevie ~ she is AMAZING! Now this is a duet so there is a part two coming for Hunter and Jayme, I’m not sure if I’d call the ending a cliffy, but it was the perfect place to pause at…so while I am concerned at what they will go through in the next book (I really, honestly think they’ve been through enough) I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

I don’t think that I was fully prepared for the outrageous roller coaster ride of emotions that this book provided me. It was insane! I suppose that I shouldn’t have expected anything less after reading Brown’s Darkness series, Collector series, and Lightness Saga. Those series blew me away and this book did just the same! This book may be a different genre, but the writing and the storytelling were just as incredible.
This book has an all-consuming, emotional plot. Like, drama central. This book will give you whiplash and you will thank it for the trouble. I literally could not put this book down for a second. I was so into the story and all of the plot twists were exciting and shocking. Some of them I had guessed ahead of time, but they were still extremely well plotted.
This book has a typical high school setting so the world building in pretty bare bones. The details contained in the book were sufficient to help me visualize the story. I didn’t have trouble putting anything together in my mind.
The characters and the plot are the leading factors in this story. The characters have so much depth. These characters are real. They have flaws and they can think for themselves. They don’t fall into a mold like a lot of young adult books tend to have. I loved the struggles that the characters had to face and how they were able to grow as a result of them. I loved how addicting these characters were and how likable. I loved how these characters are not black and white. There is a lot of gray area.
The romance was amazing! I was rooting for Jaymerson and Hunter the whole time. Even through their struggles. The romance was written very well. You could feel the love radiating off of these characters through the pages. I loved that things were not easy for these characters where the romance was concerned. There were so many obstacles that they had to face that made their love stronger and meaningful. If anything bad happens to their love in the next book then I will riot!
Overall, this was a splendid, emotional romance that is really set apart from a lot of young adult contemporary that I have read. This love story isn’t shiny or bubbly. It is raw, messy, and real. Life happens. Real life. Real love. If you are a fan of emotional contemporary young adult fiction then you’ve found your next read! And you won’t be disappointed.
Ugh I can’t even with this book. It tore me down and picked me back up over and over again. SUCH an emotional roller coaster with all the heat and steaminess you’d expect from Stacey’s books.
OMG! This is a beautiful, emotional, and well written story! I love Jaymerson and Hunter’s story, and now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Broken Love. Eva Kaminsky did an amazing narration. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
One thing is for certain; Stacey Marie Brown always surprises me with her books and Shattered Love was no different! I am completely blown away by this one, I was a bit nervous during the first half of the book because I wasn’t a fan of what was happening. The feeling of just annoyance with the supporting characters was overpowering everything that I was feeling for the book but things quickly changed and we’re thrown into Jaymerson and Hunter’s story. This book challenged me a bit and took me into all sorts of directions, emotionally. Their story is completely complicated with too many secrets, but it’ll punch you right where it hurts every single time.
Let me start off with the fact that this book brought back so many reasons why I hated high school. The teenage years are horrible, nothing great about going through all the angst and teenage bullsh*t, plus teenagers are downright vicious. I’m just so thankful that I don’t have to go through high school EVER again, well until my child is that point in her life. Someone save me!
Shattered Love turned out to be something so different than I thought it would be. During the first 40% of the book, I struggled with the story so much. I couldn’t deal with Jaymerson’s parents, so-called friends (they’re the worst!) and even her teachers. This girl went through one of the most traumatic experiences in her life and in such a short time, they expected her to go back normal. Uh, hello … it doesn’t work like that. She was beyond angry about everything, not just with the people around her, but with Colton and Hunter. It was just the three of them that night when everything went tragically wrong. Everything she was feeling was absolutely normal and no one understood that except Hunter. She bottled up all her anger and I was waiting for her to finally release it all … even though I finished the book, I’m still waiting for her to just spew her anger over EVERYONE. I NEED that moment! But SMB captured the teenage mind so honestly, being someone so young and just stuck in your mind where no one really understands. Definition of a teenager, everyone.
“I don’t care what everyone else thinks. You make me feel alive. Happy. I can be completely myself. Real”
Hunter … all I have to say is that people have him so wrong. But I’ll be honest and say that I never liked Colton … and that’s probably as far as I’ll touch on that topic. I love Hunter, he was quite the mystery for most of the book, but constantly leaves you begging to know more about him. He’s definitely dubbed as the bad twin and yes he has his flaws, but I always believed him to be the good twin. Colton rubbed me the wrong way and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one that got the same vibe from the very beginning. I just wanted more about Hunter, so much more. Even though some truths are revealed by the end, I’m still left with so many questions. But seriously, be ready to fall in love with Hunter, everyone.
Aside from all the struggles I went through with this book, I absolutely loved it.. Jaymerson was on edge the entire book, she had such a whirlwind of emotion and you couldn’t help but feel for her. A girl who just needed to truly find herself again after the huge trauma she went through in her life and no one was really letting her do that. I have so many hopes for her in the next story and more than anything, I think she needs to get away from everyone and everything. She needs just be on her own to figure herself out. She’s like a bird stuck in a cage, she wants nothing more than to be free, but there’s just so much holding her back.
“Shed your feathers and soar. Be yourself. Fly free.”
If anything, this book was more about Jaymerson than it was Jaymerson and Hunter’s story. I’m hoping we get some of Hunter’s POV in the next one. I think there’s still so much to learn about him.
The end of the book wasn’t quite a cliffhanger, but I have a feeling of what will be happening next in their story. And let’s just say that I’m rooting for that because they BOTH need it. I know that this little paragraph will be confusing as hell, but Jaymerson and Hunter haven’t really had the chance to properly heal from what they endured. They haven’t had time away and they desperately need it. As much as you’ll constantly beg for them to finally be together, I want them apart for a bit. I seriously think it’s necessary for them to grow. These two are fighters and I’m sure nothing will keep them apart, so I know we’ll be in for another hell of a ride in Broken Love.
So yes, absolutely loved this book, SMB does it again with her words! Jaymerson and Hunter’s story is a duet, but there’s a third book in the series and I’m curious about who it will be, but I have inklings. Prepare to have your heart shattered all over the damn place with Shattered Love. SMB fans will love it!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Shattered Love Stacey Marie Brown is book One in the Shattered Love Series. This starts the story of Jaymerson Holloway and Hunter Harris. Jaymerson was a young girl with what people thought was a great boyfriend, Colton. But when a tragic incident happened it set her course in a different directions. Hunter was Colton’s twin brother and he is thought to be the ‘bad’ twin. But the more that we start to learn them more that might not be the case. Feelings are high between Hunter and Jaymerson with what has happened and what they are feeling. This is a page turner of a read and I hope to read more of it soon.
At first I thought this was going to be another cliche love story you always find in romance novels. But the suspense kept making me want to know more! In the beginning of reading I felt very emotional and empathetic toward Jayme, Colton, and even the “delinquent brother” Hunter. It was like I was watching a movie and could relate to the troubles that were brought along with the journey of becoming a newly adult. There was definitely twists I was not expecting and had me going through an emotional roller coaster. Can’t wait to read the next one!
Shattered Love is one of those books that stay with you long after you finish. The story of Jaymerson and Hunter is tragic, heartbreaking, and angst-ridden. But through it all, there is an underlying message of hope and forgiveness. Even when secrets are revealed that could break anyone, Jaymerson and Hunter seem to rebound with the support of each other.
Stacey Marie Brown did an amazing job of building the relationship between the major AND minor characters. I am absolutely in love with Stevie. She added the subtle comic relief and strangely, the calm mind, in this turbulent story.
Honestly, this book will be one of my favorites for 2018. I am looking forward to what happens next in Hunter and Jaymerson’s story.
