Entertaining and engaging story, right up to the rather abrupt, all neatly wrapped up ending that feels forced or like the author was bored and just wanted to be done. then on to book two about a different person…
Married to the bogeyman!
Robert Bruce sought to protect his daughter, Abigail, by hiding her in an abbey until she was grown and now wants to further protect her by wedding her to the Black Douglas. Abigail has no choice in the matter but the tales of James Douglas are frightening. He is the bogeyman used to scare children when they are bad, but …
I didn’t like reading attempted Scottish accents and almost never finished it due to many misspelled words in the begging. Liked the curvy main character because she was relatable to my body type and major studies.
love it.
Excellent romantic fantisy. Unusual plot. Great shifter story.
Great characters a great book
Kind of formula, but readable. I’d read more of the series at $.99 or free.
If you like romance, periodicals, and dragons, this one has it all! Fairly quick read but difficult to put down, so that’s a good thing. Definitely good to drop out of the real world with.
Great story! Loved the characters and looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Very interesting story line. Not your typical romance novel. Kept you engaged the whole time!
A great re
I still recommend- first in a series- there was nothing wrong with the story or the characters, it just felt more like a novella. Haven’t read beyond on this first- but the chemistry was hot!
Thos is another amazing book by Victoria Zak. Ms. Zak has an incredible mind and she k ows just how to word her books. They are rich with history yet at the same time there is also some wonderful fantasy include. The main characters are so full of love that it brings a smile to my face. The main characters also has a very high heat rating that …

He agrees to marry Princess Abigale Bruce (illegitimate daughter of King Robert Bruce of Scotland) even …
While I love shifter books I haven’t read any historical novels in years, until recently. I’m so glad I found these books. I really enjoyed Highland Burn. It kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and I can’t wait to read more in this series I just have to know what’s going to happen next. I loved that it was also about Robert the …
This is the very first PNR book I ever read. It was wonderful for me because it took my LOVE of History to a whole different REALM. I never really thought of reading A “Shifter novel” until I stumbled upon “Highland Burn”. Once I started reading this book I was hooked, I could not put it down. I read this book in about 4 hours. To me it was that …
