Although I am not a huge fan of historical, I am finding that this author possesses the ability to draw me in. I liked how the main couple was forced into each other’s company and had to discover and admit their shortcomings in their failing marriage. Through this process, they both discovered that their love was still strong and if it wasn’t for the meddling of jealous instigators, they would have never split. Thanks for another great read.
Lady Aisla Maclaren has been living in Paris for years. Her best friend has suddenly asked her to marry him. There is a big obstacle to that, a certain Highlander she left behind in Scotland.
Laird Niall Maclaren has spent the last few years dragging himself out of the bottle and rebuilding his life. His family keep telling him that he needs a woman, but nobody can take the place of the one that he sent away.
An emotional story with lovely characters that have a tendency toward self destructive behaviour. Our hero had something taken from him as a lad, and has spent the rest of his life trying to prove he is not a cripple. Jealousy and temper tantrums play a big part in the difficulties they face.
This does say it’s the first in a series but I know I’ve met this hero before when he was a young lad. A very entertaining read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Boy I adore stories about Highlanders and second chance romance. This story contained enough angst to keep you glued to your ereader. I loved the plot. I really breaks the heart to see two people who are meant to be together, separate. In this case, it was a good thing, I hated to see the book end as I was really enraptured by their stories. It was like saying good-bye to friends.

My Thoughts:
This is another seamlessly co-authored book by this amazing pair of novelists.
I have read the entire first series and highly recommend all of these authors books. They need not be read in any particular order and are all able to be read as a standalone although there are some characters that do carry over.
This is book #1 of the new series.
I had previously been introduced to our hero in one of the other books and was glad that he got his own story.
Our heroine was so briefly mentioned before that it was more like an oh yeah!
Both characters were well thought out and make for an intriguing second chance romance.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 2.75 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy isn’t nonexistent but more of an after thought in this book.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Not having read either author before but they seem to know how to lure one in. The story was right up my way that I wanted to step back in time with one such as these. This one has two characters that will stir up plenty in their quest to have their way. Niall and Aisla will take you on a second chance romance but in Highlander fashion. The personalities when crossed create some high entertainment with also some roaring heat that make it squirmy. part of the allure of this one was seeing whom was going to get what they wanted.
Sweet Home Highlander by Amalie Howard; Angie Morgan is book One in the Tartans and Titans series. This is the story of Aisla Montgomery and Niall Stuart Maclaren.
Aisla and Niall were married but there was a misunderstanding that took them to start living separate lives away from each other. Now all these years later Aisla comes asking for a divorce and Niall will give it to her if she stays with him for a week for every year they were apart..which turns into 6 weeks. But they start to learn more about each other and what happened those years ago….can they turn away from each other after their time is up.
This was a really good story that touched on a disability that the hero had along with some witty banter!
This is the first of a new series but features Niall & Aisla who we met in My Scot, My Surrender, I’m thrilled that Niall has his story. At the end of the previous story Niall & Aisla had just returned from their elopement & were expecting a baby, this story begins six years later & the pair are estranged. Niall Maclaren is now the Laird of Tarbendale the estate he has bought from Sorcha, his sister after proving he could make the estate profitable. Aisla is living in Paris & known as Lady Aisla Montgomery. When Aisla returns to Scotland to sever ties, Niall agrees on one condition—one week with him for every year of desertion. Six weeks as his wife in his castle…in his bed…in exchange for her freedom.
Another very good page turning read from the authors. A story of second chances, Niall has totally changed from the young whisky drinking man, Aisla has become far more independent & has grown in confidence. Their path to their HEA isn’t smooth with accidents at the mine & misunderstandings. There’s also teasers, I hope, for further stories concerning Ronan & Makeena
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
A bunch of brawny highlanders, oh yeah I’m there. This second chance romance is a slow burn that kept me on my toes the entire book. How would Niall and Aisla work through their misunderstandings and the deceptions of others? I loved the idea of the wager and seeing each other, especially Aisla, try to seduce the other. They each grew up and had a better relationship because of it. Their chemistry was definitely hot. There are lots of secondary characters that hopefully get their own stories.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Sweet Home Highlander by Amalie Howard and Angie Morgan
Tartans and Titans #1
Historical romance set in Scotland with a second chance at romance theme for Niall and Aisla proved to me that what is usually wrong with a relationship in the beginning is often a problem later on or should the two get back together again.
Both hero and heroine seemed a bit lame brained at times and had me scratching my head thinking they must be daft or not have thought things through before saying or doing what they said or did. I wondered about their getting together the first time even though I kind of remembered older brother Ronan confronting Niall over his drinking…wanted a few more details about the beginning and that might have helped me understand why they were still so in love with one another even if unwilling to communicate with one another.
The two did get their happily ever after eventually. Evil was thwarted. There is an intriguing side story that has me wondering if Julien and Makenna might end up together or at least find their own HEA together or with someone else. And I also wonder if Ronan will eventually find a bride.
I enjoyed the story but wished that Niall and Aislin had communicated more openly and thus avoided the angst and drama they seemed to have to deal with. I have told friends that to make a marriage work there needs to be communication, commitment and trust…these two had a problem with these throughout the book…I do hope they get things right after the book ends.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing – Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
Sweet Home Highlander by Amalie Howard and Angue Morgan is #1 in “,Tartans and Titans” new series Great beginning to what promises to be a great new series. Lady Aisla Montgomery and Niall Stuart Maclaren, the rugged Laird of Tarbendale’s, story is entertaining, compelling and intriguing. Their witty banter, their bitter partakes, and their growing attraction makes them an enjoyable couple. I enjoyed the fact that Niall had a disability, which the authors did a wonderful job convening this fact to readers. It did not hold him back from life nor his circumstances. They also handled Aisla’s reaction with care that left Niall’s dignity intact. It was easy to forget about his disability, although, some people underestimated him due to his disability. He shows them how unwise that can be.
Steady paced, well written with exciting and engaging characters. The storyline was unpredictable, intriguing, adventurous, with danger, turmoil and finding a HEA.
I truly love Scottish Romance, Medieval romance, brawl highlanders, feisty lasses and unpredictable stories. These authors did a great job with this story, I thought. I look forward to reading more from these authors and reading the next adventure in this intriguing series.
I received a complimentary copy, however all opinions are my own.
How often do we get a second chance at love? For Alisa and Niall, it could happen. Married young and then separated for six years (why you ask? will have to find out!) Aisla has been living in Paris and decided she wants to remarry, but has one problem. She must divorce her husband first. Returning to Scotland to confront Niall, she finds he is not as willing as she thought. The only way he will grant her the divorce is that she live with him as a wife for six weeks and then he will give her the freedom she is asking. That seems simple but there is so much more to this story. Mystery, humor and of course strong emotions that come to the surface as someone tries to harm Niall and his family. Will they be able to reconcile and love each other? A wonderful story not to be missed and cannot wait for more in this series!
