What a on the seat of your pants, action packed, paranormal mystery and thriller! It was a little slow at first, but as expected for most books, it lays the foundation of what’s to come – and it sure did. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and can’t wait to read more!

Fantastic Urban Fantasy!!
A Weapon of Magical Destruction is a well-written, intense story with the perfect flow. Katie has managed to enthrall us with her world building urban fantasy and intrigue us with the action and suspense. Her characters are interesting, believable and relatable. This is one book I refuse to include any spoilers in my review. I can’t wait to read what Katie comes up with next. This is a must-read for yourself tale. I highly recommend this book. 5+++!

This is a fantastic read. This book drew me in right from the start and had me on the edge of my seat, I loved it the whole book takes you away in your own world. Sage learns that her Mother is killed and that not everything she was taught is quite as it seems. The Author really brings out the Character and I love the sarcasm she has. And the story building is great as well. There are twists and turns. And the Book cover is great as well. I definitely recommend this read.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This book is a gr8 way to start a series. Sage is a snarky nerd that happens to be more than she truly seems. I felt so many emotions while reading this, I even cried. Grey is just as snarky as Sage is, and I loved reading their interactions. I love Mat. He’s the perfect roommate/bff. There’s so much going on throughout this story, but it really was gr8. I can’t wait to read the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Sage just lost her mother and now finds out she is special. Magic can’t hurt her. She is immune to it. ASSET wants her to work with them, just like her mother did, keeping the peace between the magical community. But because everyone is either lying to her or not telling her the truth, she doesn’t know who to trust. And who is targeting the vampires? Is ASSET really the good guys, and are all the magical beings really bad? Sage must figure it out before war breaks out between the magical community and ASSET.
This is not just another zero-to-unexpected-hero story. The author does an excellent job of creating a relatable character (so like the wiseass know-it-all I can be) and describing her struggle to accept her mother’s death and legacy, which is particularly difficult since the legacy in question is to immediately take up her mother’s responsibilities as a secret agent protecting the world from malicious magic. It probably would have helped if our heroine Sage believed in magic to begin with. Now that Sage has accepted the legacy, let the training (and mayhem!) begin!

Wow, this book is really a breath of fresh air. Exciting & original. I enjoyed reading it. I definitely prefer fantasy or sci-fi stories that take place on Earth, much more homey & realistic, as if life wasn’t really all that boring. I would definitely recommend this book.

As I sit here staring at the blinking cursor, not yet recovered from my story hangover, I realize I have no idea what words to use to convey what I just went through with this book. Especially to be more relevant than the insipid “I liked it!” or “it was great!” without giving away the best parts of the story. This book combines all the twists, deceptions, and double-crosses of my favorite political thrillers with all the forces of the unseen of classic fables, fairy tales, and myths, along with complex, quirky characters that run away with the story. One of this author’s great skills is her ability to create a novice heroine who doesn’t have the first clue about anything happening around her, and then allowing us to learn and experience it all with her. That makes for very compelling reading. I’ve only just finished this book and already I want to know more about Sage and ASSET.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Thrust into a world she doesn’t believe in by her mother’s death, can our heroine accept her destiny before she gets killed?
This is an urban fantasy origin story as our heroine slowly awakens to the world around her. Eventually people actively trying to kill her does force her to accept her new reality, but it does take a while. And that is my one complaint about the story. I get tried of people constantly dismissing the truth in front of them, even it if is a hard truth to accept.
That aside, this was a good story with a rich detailed world and lots of interesting characters. It is a good thing that this is just the first book in a series, because there is a lot of ground to explore. I look forward to reading the next volume to see if our heroine truly grows into her role.
Recommended.

In the midst of grieving for her mother Sage’s world spins out of control. A certified geek she struggles to come to terms with the fact that all the stories she’s enjoyed in her life have a bit of reality to them. Except she can’t do all the cool things her healer character on her RPG game nights can, she is only immune to them, neutral, supposed to bring balance. Throw in a weapon that drains magic from those that possess it and an attack on the headquarters of the agency supposed to protect the weapon from falling into te wrong hands. To find out why her mother was killed and uncover the culprit behind a vampire genocide Sage must put her grief on the backburner and learn to trust her instincts. Great world building, fleshed out characters and a story arc that flows and grips you and doesn’t release until you finish it.

Everything she thought she knew has all changed since her mother was killed by a magical weapon. They tried to recruit her to be an agent but she thinks it was all a joke. Then she was attacked and now she needs to find the weapon. Will she? See if she will

I loved this unique and thrilling story. When Sage’s mother is killed she knew her life would never be the same again but she had no idea just how drastically it would change. By nature of a heritage she was totally unaware of, Sage is reluctantly drawn into the hidden and often volatile world of policing the supernaturals she had previously thought only existed in the games she played with her friends. I really enjoyed this fresh take on a world where paranormals are hidden in plain sight. Sage is a great character, she is strong, adaptable, a bit naive (but then who wouldn’t be when you find your world is suddenly not how you thought it was) and you can’t help but want more from life for her. The action, intrigue, secrets, twists and characters in this story are great. I enjoyed how feasible the hidden world seemed and the banter between Grey and Sage is excellent. Grey is an intriguing character, he is strong, moody and a bit oppressive, but there are hidden depths to him and I can’t wait to find just what makes him tick. I love Matt, his humour and caring nature endears you to him from the start but you do worry for his safety. There are some great characters in this enjoyable story and I really look forward to seeing how they develop, where the story leads and what other trouble Sage will get into in the next book.
