I read this book years ago. The story was very original and suspenseful. The movie was not as good as the book.
As always, Crichton delivers a science fiction story that hooks you and it is hard to know when you crossed from fact to possible fact to actual fiction. Preferred the book to the movie, by the way. Made me look up the history of the area too.
His stories are always engaging. Never read a Crichton I didn’t enjoy.
A much better ending than shown in the movie of the same name…
This is one of my favorite books. It has a great story with time travel.
A modernized and more serious version of a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.
Part way thru realized had seen the movie. Still a good read.
My first Crichton. Well-researched and adequately paced, but not very well written as prose. It feels like it was slapped on the page without a second draft or an edit flicking through to see if it could be improved or if some of the exposition was too clunky or on the nose. Disappointed in that. But the story is undeniably interesting.
Absolutely great. If you have any interest in medieval history, this is your book.
A very good story put together by one of America’s fantastic writers.
This was a great book.
