This is a wonderful story that makes it ever more thrilling because of the supernatural and superpowers of the characters. The love story is endearing and captivating. The fact that these are vampires doesn’t alter how wonderful Ana and Andree are, or maybe this is what makes them even more special. The alien twist is intriguing and, why not, believable. The action is fast-paced and you won’t be able to put the book down until it’s over… you don’t even have to like vampires (you’ll get over it after the first chapter) to love this book. Looking forward to reading the sequel.
I have been reading a lot of paranormal romances lately. Before reading Bloodline Origins, I was getting burnt out on them. So, when I had the opportunity to read/review this book, I already had an opinion formed about it. Then I read the book and was surprised. The author took a typical vampire romance and added her flair to it. I loved it!!
The plot of Bloodline Origins was interesting. Ana was attacked by Ivan and his friend on her way home from the beach. During that attack, Ana learns that vampires are real. So, she asks to join them. Ana finds acceptance and the courage to overcome past hurts. She falls in love. But, there are sinister forces at work. A vampire with an agenda is plotting to eradicate Ana’s new family. Can Ana save her family? Or will she watch them be annihilated before her very eyes?
I connected with Ana. She was a well-written character who had to overcome her past to morph into the woman that she became in the book. Ana wasn’t perfect. She was a normal human woman. I did like that nothing seemed to faze her, well outward. Everything was kept internal.
I liked her reactions when she realized what she got herself into. They went from fear to doubt to acceptance. I loved that she had an opportunity to back out at any time. The scene where she carved her initials on Andree’s hand was the turning point for her. The author created enough doubt for me to wonder if she’d go through with it.
I loved Andree. He was a little bit intimidating when he was introduced in the book. But that went away after a few of his interactions with Ana. As much as I loved hem, I did think that he took some liberties with Ana. Like reading her mind while she was sleeping. And then having David scan her while she was asleep. I got a little peeved with that. That was the only time I got annoyed with him. Every other time in the book, he was perfect. He was patient and so in love with her that I got jealous!!!
Ivan was a creep. I didn’t understand his obsession with wiping out Emilia’s coven. I did feel bad for him, kind of, when Collin was killed. But it fueled his desire to end them even more.
Bloodline Origins fit with the paranormal genre. I was interested in the plotline about the aliens and how vampires came to be. It was an original and different retelling. I am interested in seeing where the author goes with that.
I also liked the different take that the author took on vampires. For one, if a woman was pregnant when turned, she could give birth to a vampire hybrid. But, it was only between certain weeks in the pregnancy. I also liked that the full blood vampires could go out in the sun, but they had to drink a serum. But, the hybrids could go out in the sun, and they didn’t rely on blood to survive.
The book also fits with the romance genre. The love that Andree and Ana had for each other was terrific. Even though it was Instalove, they were bonded within a few days. As for the sex scenes, which are essential in a romance novel, they weren’t graphic. The author spent no time on them at all. It took me a few chapters, after the wedding, to realize that they had sex.
The end of Bloodline Origins was interesting. I am curious to see if what was said will come true. I am also eager to read the next book!!
I’m not generally drawn to read paranormal or stories about vampires but this book was a pleasant surprise to me and I really enjoyed it. I grew up watching the cult tv drama series “Dark Shadows” so I was curious as to what this story would be like. Would there be a Barnabas or Angelique? What would instigate a vampire’s need to “feed”? What could Ms. Foos write that would be different from any other book based on vampires? Would it be just another “biting” attack on innocent victims? Oh, it is far from all that and so much more. The writing is very well done with the character development and descriptive scenes. It was so easy to visualize what I was reading into images in my mind. It was like stepping into the pages. This book was a fresh and unique twist on any preconceived ideas I had about the vampire culture and mythology. For me this was a “good” verses “evil” tale with a passionate love story done with subtlety. From the beginning scene of this book, my heart was pounding and adrenaline rushing.
I love the characters of Ana and Andree. Ana has felt she’s never really fit in or belonged and she’s felt out of place. She’s been fascinated by vampires and has had an inner yearning to become one…but do they even exist and how would that even happen? Until one evening her life takes a turn she never expected when she’s saved from attackers and taken to the Third Coven of Queen Emelia De Croix. Ana feels and knows this is where she belongs. Andree is the queen’s son and as soon as he’s entered into the story, the attraction he has to Ana is overwhelming. Love at first sight overwhelming. I loved the way their love story developed through the pages of the book. The attraction and chemistry to each other is intense, romantic and heart-throbbing. They belong together but she’s human and what will it take for them to have their HEA? Ana is different and the vampires who come into contact with her sense it right away. “There’s something about her “presence” that is strong. Is this Ana’s fate or is this her destiny?
There is so much detail in this story. It’s written so well that I would forget I was reading the book. I was in the pages myself. This author has a vivid way of bringing the reader into the world she’s created. One so different from what I expected. The title of this book, “Bloodline Origins” is perfect for the story between the covers. It’s the beginning of what’s to come. This is a great debut novel that sets up a continuation for the characters. The ending was perfect and left me satisfied but also yearning to know where the story goes from here.
I want to thank Ms. Foos for the gift of a copy of her wonderful novel. Again, it’s not something I normally would have picked up to read but the story is original. It’s a non-stop, page-turning, creative adventure into a unique vampiracle world full of the unexpected. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my heartfelt own.
This book is way more than I thought it was going to be. Anna asks to be turned into a vampire and along the way she has to fight her trust issues, enemy vampires, and her own fears. Love isn’t easy when you’ve been hurt in the past. There’s also some secrets hiding in her family tree that change everything for the coven. No major explicit content but there is a bit of violence.
This is an amazing new look in the world of vampires and you get to experience it with Ana as she begins to become one. No everything isnt all cupcakes and rainbows for her either. A war is raging to keep ancient secrets hidden. I love this new take on vampires; it different, creative, and definitely makes you wonder.
From the moment I opened this book I knew my adventure would be different from all the others this story would take me to a whole new level of imagination. I was not disappointed! Bloodline Origins wrapped it’s pages around me and sent my imagination on a journey unexplored. I met characters that set my heart to soar. I fell in love I laughed I even cried a little. I took a deep breath and when the last page was done I felt alone and immediately knew that the only cure was to search out the next book!
Wow. This book was a fantastic read and fantasticly written. I was shocked from the start. Its funny how I actually wanted to be a vampire. Lol So much action and so much emotions happening in such a short time. I was so surprised at a few spots.
Everyone should read this book.
I love love this story.
Thank you for writing it.
I have to admit that I’ve never cared for stories with vampires in them. But Bloodline Origins changed my mind 100 %. The chemistry between Ana and Andree is there from the very beginning, even though Ana has doubts about it. I loved all the characters (except a couple) each had their own feeling, wishes, thoughts and even those that they care about. I feel in love with Ana and Andree’s relationship. Each strong in their own way and their minds set the same way.. After reading Bloodline Origins I love Juliana Foos. I’ll be looking for more of her books to read
Ana has always felt different. Like she didn’t belong. One night she’s being hunted and is saved by a different coven of vampires. Little does she know then that that chance meeting would result in a new life and love. Andree can’t believe his eyes when he meets Ana’s eyes. Love.
This is a debut book for this author. Saying that it’s a really good start. There are some problems throughout but experience will help with that. Ana is very sweet and easily likable. Andree was a lot to take in the beginning but being a Prince that’s expected. There is Insta love on his part and it was hard for me to digest how quick he was to love Ana when she didn’t exactly return feelings for awhile. She just never let herself feel her emotions. She was mentally abused her previous marriage so I understand her reluctance. It got old after awhile though when everyone proved their caring and trust. It really wasn’t until the end where she let her past go and allowed Andree in. A trait I really dislike is when comparing previous ex’s to the person your currently with. Ana did this constantly. Poor Andree. Anyways story was ok but needs a little more filling out in parts. The alien thing was a little weird and the author didn’t sell it to me. All in all not a bad book. Not great but decent for your first!
this is a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
What do you do when you just don’t fit in anywhere . That is what is happening to Ana . She feels she doesn’t fit in anywhere until the night she starts her journey in becoming a vampire . After running into two warring factions . When she meets prince Andree there is an instant spark . But like always there is danger on the horizon and will they survive the impending war .
This is an interesting book . The characters are well written and you will love them . Ana is such a sweet woman, who doesn’t really feel like she belongs . Coming from an abusive relationship . She is wary and untrusting of everyone . As you read and get into the book you see her grow and she becomes really confident but also she has the feelings of not being good enough . When you meet Andree he comes off kind of cocky , like most princes are . I truly liked him, he truly loves and cares for Ana and wants to keep her safe . But knows not to mess with her when she is set her mind of something . They are great characters on their own but when they are together they are great . There are other characters that we find are good and not so good . That just keep wanting to keep the wars going . Ivan is the character that you will love to hate . You will either like him or hate him
This is the first book for this author . She takes us on a rollercoaster ride . An original twist on the vampire lore, throwing in the alien aspect in the mix . We get to see a love story unfold before us also with Ana and Andree . I must say it was a little slow at the beginning . It seemed to take awhile to get to Andree and Ana’s story . Also the alien aspect did kind of threw me for a little bit . Over all I really enjoyed this story and the authors writing . So if you want a original twist on vampires check it out .
I really wanted to love this but it fell short for me. The beginning felt so awkward and unnatural. It’s hard to describe but it just rubbed me the wrong way. There were a lot of points in the story that I felt like this. It was just weird. I couldn’t really connect with the characters because I couldn’t believe them.
The story itself was a good concept. There was action and suspense and of course romance but there was something with the characters and their dialogue and reactions that didn’t work for me.
Ever felt like you’re going through life without fitting in… anywhere? Not with friends, family, co-workers… there’s something different about you, and you just can’t put your finger on it… until one day you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ana meets a group of vampires and finds that one place she has always wanted to be is where she belongs. Unfortunately, she slips away from a very angry vampire but gains a gentle, but powerful vampire. She meets Andree and gets to join their coven. I was given the opportunity to follow Ana’s and Andree’s journey of falling in love and facing their biggest threat. Will they find the love they have been searching for?
This is a really good start to a series. The characters were strong and well written. I immediately fell in love with Andree. The story is funny and the secondary characters are just as awesome as the main characters. Foos tells a story in a way that pulls at your heartstrings and laugh within the same scene. It also ends in a way that leaves you wanting more. There’s no cliffhanger, but you will want to know what happens next. I, for one, cannot wait!
The Aliens Are Coming!
OMG when I first took on reading this book I would not have thought it would be this good especially since it’s the authors first, well I was very wrong, she writes like this is her 20th, or even more… Ms. Foos has achieved the impossible from me, feel the passion without one single erotic love scene and that is quite a feat!!!! Her take on the vampire world is so different and refreshing, I love it!
Ana has always felt like an outsider and she had a very disturbing relationship with her ex husband which has left her trust in men in shatters her only relief is sitting by the ocean, painting and her desire to live in that fantasy world she has always read about. She is suddenly thrust into a world she had only imagined herself in and with no fear for what she wants….To become a vampire. The only thing she will miss is her independence and not ever being able to have a family, or will she?
Prince Andree De Croix never imagined that the early pull towards his mother’s home would be the gorgeous human he falls in love with at first site, he must turn her, but he will miss what he first fell in love with, her humanity. Ana turns out to be so much more than he imagined and when an outcast shows up claiming to be her guardian, the truth of where the first vampire came from is revealed.
The power play comes to a head as Ana proves who she really is.
Kudos Ms. Foos!
