Once you’re in a prison gang, you’re in it for life. That’s what Mason Harding thought until the boss accepted his resignation. After the State releases him on parole, a sexy divorcée behind the wheel of a car almost ends his life quicker than a shank. His chance encounter with Mia Eddison results in a night of passion, but her brother–his parole officer–catches them together and doesn’t … approve. Mia falls hard for the cocky ex-con, but not because of his chiseled body. She vows to break through his walls and discover his secrets, but never expects those secrets to threaten her life. When members of an organized crime ring kidnap Mia to force Mason’s return to the gang, he goes up against an old friend to save the woman he loves. Will his sacrifice be enough or will everything fall apart in a blaze of gunfire?

What a great start to a new series. This is the first book I gave read by this author and I will be reading more. Mason has a past to overcome and I really enjoyed seeing his growth throughout the book. Mia is spunky and stubborn and able to see past the past. Definitely an interesting storyline with plenty of twist, heat and emotion
This is my first read from this author and I enjoyed it. I loved that Mia never gave up on Mason. It’s always great to have some one in your corner when you’re trying to do better. There were some slow parts but all in all a good solid read.
Amber Daulton has written a 5-star book. Mia is late for work and she almost runs Mason over as she makes a turn. After they talk and she makes sure he is fine Mason asks her out. They hit it off on their date and end up at her house after and spend the night together. Mason wants Mia but he feels she needs to know that he had spent the last 10 years in prison. She doesn’t react to the news like he thought she would. The next morning she is fixing breakfast when her brother Jim comes in. Unknown to Mia and Mason, Jim is Mason’s parole officer. Mia tries to get Jim to leave but before he does, Mason comes out and Jim gets mad seeing him. He tells Mia that she needs to stop seeing Mason. Mia gets mad over this and tells Jim that she likes Mason and for Jim not to mess it up for her. Jim puts a curfew of 8:00 p.m. on Mason. Mason lives with his brother and Mia has gone over there and when Jim finds out about this, he puts a band on her going over there. This really makes Mia mad. Mia and Mason find a way to make things work out for them. They are out to dinner when a couple of men show up and they are guys from Mason’s old life. The men are Trent and Pedro and Trent invites Mason to a party he is having that weekend. Things after this do not go so well for Mason. Douglas is the person that wants to see Mason and he wants him to work for him. Mason doesn’t want to have anything to do with that life again and he tells Douglas that. While Mason is talking to Douglas, there is someone going after Mia. Mason goes to Mia’s after his meeting and finds her gone. Jim shows up after Mason gets there and asked what happened. There is a phone call and Jim answers. When he hangs up Mason asked, “Who was on the phone?” Jim said “the kidnappers. They want us to take a little ride.” Jim and Mason now have to work together to save Mia.
When Mason and Jim get to the meeting, things go from bad to worse for the three of them. Mia is tied to a chair and Mason and Jim are in a fight to save them.
Can Mason get Mia and Jim free?
Can Mia and Mason work things out?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.
