From the co-writing duo of Mindy Michele comes a tale of small-town charm and backroads trouble.Seventeen-year-old Reagan seems like the perfect small-town girl. Dubbed a saint by her older brother, Lincoln, she serves the community, makes straight A’s, attends church, spends her summers working with special needs children, and is a piano playing prodigy. When you’re the daughter of the mayor and … daughter of the mayor and the police chief in a sleepy Kansas town, toeing the line is easier than the alternative.
That is, until her brother’s best friend changes the rules.
Reagan’s been subject to Ridley’s antics her entire life. Growing up, he tormented and teased her, but he kept his distance—until now. When Ridley breaks a promise, late night phone calls and secret rendezvous in the haystacks quickly transform into a reckless, all-consuming love.
Some promises are meant to be broken. Some secrets will not be contained, and sometimes the consequences we render are more than we can bear.
This is volume one of the Backroads Duet. Volume two, Loss in A Major, is available now.

OMG!!! Love in C minor was absolutely AMAZING!! I can honestly tell you I can’t count how many times I screamed in my head “just kiss already” bc of the wickedly cruel slow burn that was utter torture, and I can promise you it’s bound to grip your heart a squeeze and send you on a emotional roller coaster with all the best feels!!! All the Stars!!
Reagan, the small town image of perfect girl next door, always does everything to please her mom and others at the sacrifice of her own free time.Shes a straight A student, volunteer, summer camp consular who works with special need children, and a piano playing prodigy, But all is easily done when your the daughter of the towns Mayor and Chef of Police, because let face it toeing the line is easier than the alternative. That is until her brothers best friend Ridley changes the rules. Some promises are meant to be broken. After a quick get away turns awry after being subjected to attend another one of her mothers pageants, Reagan and Ridley can’t seem to fight their attraction for each other, but sneaking around will only last for so long.
The chemistry between Reagan and Ridley was refreshing and genuinely sweet. Reagan being the off limits little sister has been fighting her attraction towards Ridley for years. With her brother off to college there’s no one around to keep the boys from noticing her at school anymore and now Ridleys looking at her with an intensity that gives her butterflies.
Linc, Reagan’s brother was the perfect over bearing protective type, their playful banter was heartwarming and I really enjoying how their relationship developed throughout the book.
Trying to be vague so I don’t spoil anything bc this is definitely a book you want to read!! OMFG THAT ENDING I NEED the next book!!!! HEART BREAKING CLIFF HANGER!!! Hands down guys this book is AMAZING!!
I received an ARC for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my goodness! Y’all! This book!! I adore small town romances and brother’s best friend is my favorite romance trope and Love in C Minor has both of those things. Plus, it has the magic and emotion that is born every time Mindy Michele touches a keyboard. This story transported me right to the town of Ellbury and had me feeling every ounce of angst, adrenaline, love, laughter, and anger right along with the characters.
And oh my goodness, those characters! I see a lot of Reagan in myself, but I think I would love her anyways. Her spunky, independent side is my favorite. Especially, when she has a snappy comeback. Lincoln is such a protective big brother, which I think is adorable, even though I can relate to Reagan’s frustration with him at times. I love the little glimpses we get into his life throughout Ridley and Reagan’s story. When Lincoln and Reagan have their sweet sibling moments, it made me ‘awww’ and my heart happy. There is definitely a soft teddy bear under Lincoln’s prickly exterior.
And that brings me to Ridley. Ridley Goss. That man is definitely not Really Gross. He has such a big heart and combines sweet and sexy in all the best of ways. Ridley is true country boy with muscles in all the right places, he plays guitar and sings, he dotes on his little sisters, and loves his mama. *falls head over heals* If you want to know what to get me for my birthday, just mail me Ridley Goss.
Now comes the hard part, waiting until July for part 2 of this duet. Y’all know how I love the angst that comes with a great cliffhanger, but this one is a doozy and I NEED to know what happens next! I can’t wait until July…and not just because it’s my birthday month and July Fourth is my second favorite holiday.
In short, this story is passionate and extraordinary and you should have one-clicked it yesterday.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful story! Reagan and Ridley have known each other forever… their relationship has changed over the years, and this is their story.
The authors really pulled me in to this story and the cliffhanger has left me needing more!
Starla Huchton did a beautiful job with the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her performances.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
A beautifully written story about young love so, of course, there’s plenty of angst and emotion in this sweet romance. Ridley and Reagan are a lovely couple that have their ups and downs. Lincoln could be a pill at times but I hope he gets a story. This one ends with a set up for the continuation of Ridley and Reagan‘s story. I look forward to the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Love in C Minor by Mindy Michelle a sublime five-star read. This is volume one in a Backroads Duet and what a book, it will make you laugh and cry, so get your tissues at the ready!! Volume two can’t come quickly enough. I will be honest and it took me a couple of chapters to get into the story but once I did I couldn’t put it down, it went from a good story to one that had me so encompassed in reading that I didn’t move for hours, I suddenly sat up once it was done with tears flowing needing to grab a drink as my throat was so dry, my poor dog was looking at me like I’ve been trying to get your attention all day woman!! It was just so good, these two authors write as one they have such a great seamless flow to them.
Reagan Meeks is a character that I struggled with at first, she really is a yes girl, saying yes to be helpful and being the good girl that her family expected. Looking up to her bog brother and his best friend Ridley Goss watching them have fun and live the life of freedom. Rea has grown up in the shadow of the two boys, and she has always had a crush on Rid but always from afar, she wouldn’t dream of doing anything about it, that’s not what good girls do. Until one incident in a cupboard leads her to break the saintly shell she has always had. Would you risk everything for love?
This story will captivate you and break you, but it also has the power to put you back together. What a writing pair, I can’t wait to read the next book to find out, what happens next? Will love be able to fix the wrongs?
Thank you both for your amazing writing talents and creating characters that I have adored and can’t wait to hear more from.
5 STARS FOR LOVE IN C MINOR!! What a fun, sweet story that will keep you flipping pages. This story will take you down memory lane with all the feels. I loved Reagan and Ridley’s stories, it was perfectly written. This is the first book I have read by Mindy Michele and I can’t wait to read more.
First of this isn’t a standalone read this is at least a 2 book series and yes there is a cliff hanger. Now you have been warned now let’s move on to why I am so glad this is more than one book. First the author is able to not only introduce us to these folks but able to have us understand the depth of it all. This isn’t just about young love there is so much more and it’s so much fun being apart of it and watching them grow without the angst. Second the author has taken an ordinary topic and made it into an entertaining read literally leaving us with our mouths hanging open wondering WTH?!?!
That’s ok dear sweet authors. I understand. It’s what you do and what I continue to read your books. I love that this relationship stayed clean. I love that the story kept you invested in more from the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This is my first read by these two and it has been loads of fun and I look forward to more.
