Breaker is hired muscle who is forced into kidnapping Alex, little did he know Alex was a she. Alex is a hacker trying to bring down a nasty no good a**hole who treats women like punching bags and don’t care if they get up again when he knocks them down.
I loved this book! I loved the dynamic between Alex, Breaker and even Shooter. I loved how the story developed and I loved the character development. Jessica Gadziala creates some badass women in this world!
This was my first venture into Jessica Gadziala’s world…but I’m not leavin’ anytime soon! I could NOT put this down! I loved how well the author dug into the character’s personalities and really molded and shaped them into who they were. I felt that was very excellently done. It made them relatable characters in a world that most of us cannot relate to. And Breaker…O.M.G.! Loved him!! I like how he took charge of any situation but was still soft enough to care for and fall in love with Alex. Gotta love a bad ass with a heart of gold!
This is the first time I read this author and I really enjoyed this book, very much. Will be reading more of this author’s books.
STORY:
EDIT/PROOFREADING:
OVERALL: .5
STORY:
What a great story! I’ve read many stories about people paid to abduct women and women who fall for their captors, but this is not either of those!!!! MONSTER is far from the typical, boilerplate captive romance because Breaker is hired/bribed in to kidnapping Alex for someone else. And that someone else adds a whole other can of worms to the storyline! Yes, a romance does develop between Alex and Breaker, but it’s very unique and super hot! I absolutely loved these main characters and did not want their story to end!
EDITING/PROOFREADING:
The only negative about this book is that it is very poorly edited/proofread. My main complaint about the editing was repetition. Because this story was told from both the male and female main characters’ perspectives, the same scenes were often repeated, resulting in a lot of redundancy.
Regarding proofreading, there were blatant typos such as always using INTO instead of IN TO, ONTO instead of ON TO, MIGHT even though it should’ve been MAY, THAT instead of WHO, TICKING although it should have been TICCING, and FURTHER when it should’ve been FARTHER. GOD was not capitalized when it should’ve been, yet GODDAMN was capitalized even though it should not have been.
According to the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), ellipses were not spaced correctly. There were sentences with the wrong word (for example, “I meant it to me kinda funny.”), sentences with missing words (for example, “I woke up the next morning with jackhammer splicing into my brain,”), and run on sentences or sentences with missing punctuation (for example, “Someone I need to have a conversation with someone who has thus far eluded my men.”
Most of all, there were numerous mistakes regarding commas:
-The FANBOYS rule for commas was not followed.
-Rules for commas regarding the word OH we’re not followed (for example, “Oh baby” should’ve been, “Oh, baby”).
-Commas were not inserted before pronouns (for example, “Listen asshole” should’ve been, “Listen, asshole”).
-Commas we’re not inserted between multiple adjectives (for example, “thinning dark hair”).
After her Mom’s death, Alex’s focus had been on destroying the man who destroyed her mom. Breaker was hired for a job, a job he would have never accepted if he had know Alex wasn’t a man. He was hired to kidnap and deliver Alex to the very man Alex had spent years trying to destroy. Breaker has to find a way to save them both while showing Alex that life’s worth living
5 Monster Breaker Stars
I loved Monster and I’m loving catching up with both her Savage and her Henchmen MC Series.
I love the way that Jessica writes her heroes. They are supposed to be anti-heroes but they’re not. Breaker is hot, bossy, protective and dirty talking, Whats not to love!
Her heroines are tough, strong and smart. I loved Alex. I loved how her walls at first are built to be impenetrable but when it come to Breaker, they weren’t strong enough to hold. I loved watching them fall and watching her fall for breaker at the same time.
Alex Miller is a hacker and she has been on a mission since she was sixteen. She wants to destroy the man who is responsible for her mother suicide, Lex Keith. Lex is a ruthless crime lord, but Alex is not afraid of him or afraid to die for this cause.
Bryan Breaker, -Contract muscle/killer….Breaker has rules though, very big rule: he never messes with a victim’s children, and women are strictly off limits. He won’t touch them. Until he’s tricked then blackmailed into kidnapping Alex. . When Breaker is left no choice but to work for one of the worst bad guys around
I cannot believe it’s taken me so long to find this author( Jessica Gadziala ).. I loved this book and I truly cannot wait to read more books by this author!
March seem like a long way off to way for Shooter’s Book… I am hoping we will get books for Pain too!
I’ve had this one on my list forever while different book friends have recommended it to me. So, today was the day that I dove into it!.
I loved Alex’s snark as it never actually put her into danger. She was smart while living life on the edge just a bit. When Breaker bursts into her life she makes plans that most wouldn’t have the courage to do.
Breaker is not your typical hero though as he lives on the dark side of life and doesn’t regret it. I liked him well enough, but when he started to fall for Alex because of her argumentative nature, I totally supported him as a hero that could be rec’d in the future.
This book has been rec’d by readers that love a jealous, possessive, alpha hero. I love the same type of hero so I had some high expectations. However, I didn’t really get a taste for any of those behaviors from him until the end. And oh my, yes, that was very good, just not enough of it.
This was a pretty fast read with a lot of steam although I did initially feel a lack of chemistry between Breaker and Alex. I especially enjoyed the relationship he had with his friends and yes, I’ll totally be reading their story.
If you enjoy something between dark and light along with a couple that really know how to keep each other on their toes, you will definitely enjoy this one!
So this is my second book by Jessica and I will continue to read her books. I loved Alex, she was strong, smart, smart mouthed and had a temper she wasn’t afraid to use. Breaker was a strong and gentle (there were a few moments when he let you see this side) alpha who I was rooting for the entire time. You can even over look what he does for a living because of the way he looks out for Alex and Shooter. I can’t wait to read Shooters book. I have only read Reign(which was great) but it seems like there might be an order to read her books. Great job Jessica !!!
It is indeed an amazing Universe… the Navesink Bank Universe (with all the series) Book 1 – the Savages – Monster. Great characters, interesting stories, action, feelings and…the romance. Check it out, maybe you will also get addicted 🙂
Fantastic beginning to a phenomenal series!
These type stories are my guilty little pleasures. Tough, foul mouth (I think I laughed every time he said ‘da f^^k) anti hero who deep down has a set of moral lines he wont cross.
Bryan Breaker had a crap life and grew up to be a muscle for hire. One thing he doesnt do is children or women. Unfortunately his best friend is used as leverage to make him kidnap a woman by a ruthless kingpin.
Alex Miller has blamed one man for her mothers death for 10 years. She has made it her goal in life to bring Lex down. She figures her life has finally come to an end when a huge beast of man kidnaps her and tells her Lex is the reason.
Alex has lead a pretty shut in life with just her computer where she excels at hacking. Even with her limited social skills she has one heck of mouth on her and doesnt back down from Breaker. Its not long before the sexual attraction for the other boils over for some smoking sex scenes.. But they both feel like they are just living on borrowed time before Lex has them killed unless they can come up with a way to bring him down.
I loved the twist ending and can’t wait for the next book..
This was the book that started my love of all writings from Jessica.
